Biden Admin Finally Giving RFK Jr. Secret Service Protection
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that Biden will finally give RFK Jr. Secret Service protection.
It took an attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life to do this, even though assassins murdered RFK Jr.’s uncle and father.
From Axios:
The big picture: “In light of this weekend’s events, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide protection to Robert Kennedy Jr.,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said at a White House press briefing Monday.
- “Our entire administration is grateful that former President Trump is okay,” Mayorkas added, thanking Secret Service agents for their work and extending condolences to the family of Corey Comperatore, a rally attendee who was killed in the shooting.
- “We are in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment,” Mayorkas added.
- Trump was given increased security before and after the rally shooting, in anticipation of being officially named the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, he added.
- The Kennedy campaign did not immediately respond to Axios’ request for comment.
