Russian Warships Will ‘Visit’ Cuba Next Week
The Russians will also visit Venezuela.
Cuba announced that four Russian warships will arrive in Havana next week. The fleet includes a nuclear submarine.
“This visit corresponds to the historical friendly relations between Cuba and the Russian Federation,” Cuba said in the press release. “None of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not represent a threat to the region.”
The ships will stay in Havana from June 12 to 17.
The Russians will also visit Venezuela. Gotta visit all the Commies I guess.
Because, you know, Russia has never put weapons in Cuba.
It’s weird, though. Twice this week alone, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he has no problem sending weapons to countries not friendly with the West:
The Russian leader on Wednesday told international journalists that Moscow could provide long-range weapons to nations to strike Western targets, a threat that comes after the U.S. gave Ukraine permission to strike with American-made weapons in a limited area of Russia.
“We reserve the right to act the same way,” Putin said on the sidelines of the forum earlier this week. “The response might [be] asymmetrical, and we will think about that.”
Putin on Friday also reaffirmed that he is prepared to use nuclear weapons if he sees a threat to Russian sovereignty, even as he said the current threat level did not warrant the use of such weapons as stipulated in Moscow’s nuclear doctrine. However, he noted that could change.
“We have a nuclear doctrine which states that the use of nuclear arms is possible in an exceptional case, when the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country is threatened,” he said. “But the doctrine can be changed.”
Putin made similar remarks on Friday.
“If they supply [weapons] to the combat zone and call for using these weapons against our territory, why don’t we have the right to do the same?” Putin told those at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Officials have already kept their eyes on Russian ships and planes expected in the Caribbean.
Anonymous sources told The Associated Press that Russia is responding to Biden’s continued support for Ukraine by flexing its muscle.
I bet Russia feels the need to flex because Ukraine has hit targets in Russia with weapons from Biden.

Missiles of October redux.
Except that in 1962 we had a real President.
Kennedy would be kicked out of today’s dumpocrap party. The only thing he has in common with today’s dems is a super-charged and reckless sexual appetite.
We have a DC establishment that seems fixated on using ‘Russia, Russia Russia’ as the permanent boogeyman excuse for all sorts of shenanigans. Then after making deliberate decisions to take actions they know damn well will be seen as provocative by Russia these same DC goons act with feigned surprise/outrage when Russia makes any counter moves. Even in a hot shooting war the enemy gets a ‘vote’ about how things unfold. This also holds true for the periods between or before a conflict.
A continuous and escalating series of actions to deliberately PO a nuclear power seem unwise. When the inevitable occurs and Russian transferred weapons end up in unfriendly hand to the US and worse get used on US soil (as US supplied weapons are v Russia right now) I suspect the DC establishment will be calling this a travesty, a hostile act or an act of war. Simultaneously refusing to answer any questions about their own culpability in doing the same thing in reverse which may have been the final straw that Russia felt they had to answer in kind. Decisions create actions and actions have consequences. We need to ensure that those who make these sorts of dumbass decisions out of arrogance, hubris or plain old stupidity fully answer for their responsibility.
Well said.
Sounds quite similar to their actions against their political opposition.
The problem is that this warlord in the Eastern Hemisphere doesn’t have to share a country or laws with them.
Yeah, though many members of the DC establishment do seem to visit Zelensky quite often….the Eastern European warlord/despot who cancelled scheduled elections, seized all radio/TV stations, shut down opposition newspapers, jailed Eastern Orthodox Clergy among other tyrannical acts.
USS Caron getting rammed by the Russians in the Black Sea – Feb 1988.

Another Navy ship was rammed on the same freedom of navigation tour. Aircraft carrier?
I doubt that Turkey would let an aircraft carrier through the Dardanelles.
It would be an extraordinarily foolish navy who would risk getting an aircraft carrier stuck and held hostage in the lake that is the Black Sea.
With the speed and range of aircraft and ballistic weapons now, there’s not much difference between the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.
There is a huge difference.
The exit from the Eastern Med isn’t 3000 feet wide and controlled by Turkey. It also doesn’t have three bridges across it, any of which can be dropped by anyone to block it..
Russians moving Syrian and Near East “migrants” to the borders of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Finland. All of them hostile males of fighting age. All of them well dressed and well fed. Some wielding farm implements. Because they’re farmers. Some are carrying bolt cutters and ladders. Maybe they’re firemen.
This week – Polish soldier stabbed by migrant at border with Belarus dies. In two other attacks on troops at Poland’s border with Belarus, one soldier was stabbed by a knife fixed to a stick […]

The top tier Russian boyars/nomenklatura are congenital irredentists.
Given that we put missiles on their doorstep and are actually giving them flight control information for those missiles, is anyone surprised?
… and a sea-going tug …
I’m not sure I understand.
Do the Cubans have bridges in need of rapid disassembly?
The tug is to get the Russian ships back home…
Russian Navy can’t go anywhere without tug boats.
Yeah the Russian Navy is not exactly top notch to say the least. I suspect the priority for Navy funding goes to their submarine force while the surface fleet gets whatever is leftover.
Their subs can still launch multiple warhead nuclear missiles. And as they showed in Ukraine, quantity is a quality unto itself.
The worst thing you can do in war is underestimate your enemy.
I wonder if they can build a pier.
“… a threat that comes after the U.S. gave Ukraine permission to strike with American-made weapons in a limited area of Russia.”
Yet another example of Biden’s big mouth being connected mainly to his narcissistic ego. HE brought that topic up in the first place thinking it made him sound like a big wheel, then he waffled on it.
II you don’t want them firing those missiles into Russia then don’t give them to Ukraine in the first place. Don’t come along later and try to take ownership of them and how they are used,
fjb:
I remember when I instructed jfk on the bay of pigs
and how to get marilyn
hurry send them the “migrants”!!!!
“got to visit all the commies I guess”
so they are coming to the white house
Nothing to worry about we have Sleepy Joe at the wheel.
Aw- they are coming to celebrate pride month.
They should wear masks so their sailors don’t catch monkey pox.
The Russian ships didnt have that far to go seeing as how they dock around the Boston harbor
