McGill University Student Appears to Spit on School President at Graduation Before Unfurling Anti-Israel Banner

A student at McGill University in Quebec appeared to spit on the school president as she was presented with her diploma, before unrolling an anti-Israel banner with a BDS related message on it.
One has to wonder if she had family in the audience and how they feel about her behavior.
The College Fix reported:
Anti-Israel student ‘spits’ on school president, other faculty while receiving diploma
A graduating pro-Palestinian student at McGill University made “spitting motions” at two faculty members, including, allegedly, the school president, while receiving her diploma this past week.
The unidentified student also unfurled a banner which read “Divest from Death.”
According to The Gazette, the official McGill video of the ceremony does not show the student making the spitting motions (it remains unclear if she actually spit) nor holding up the banner. But unedited versions (below) began circulating on social media.
In a statement, McGill said it was “focused on the ceremony itself, and therefore did not notice if the graduating student spat.”
It added, however, “it was […] clear the student was yelling and highly disrespectful. The university remains firmly committed to peaceful and respectful dialogue, even on the most divisive and painful issues.”
Citing privacy concerns McGill refused to say if the student would face any discipline, but did note it would take action if the student code of conduct or the law were “breached.”

Just a few days ago, anti-Israel students at McGill took over a campus building and had to be removed by police.

Montreal police fired tear gas at a crowd of pro-Palestinian protesters outside McGill University’s James Administration Building, where activists had blockaded themselves on the third floor Thursday evening.
Around 6 p.m. inside the building on the university’s downtown campus, masked demonstrators could be seen opening windows, chanting and waving a Palestinian flag on what appeared to be the third floor.
A line of police officers stood on the street below, but soon the protest grew larger, with protesters occupying the campus square and carrying banners. About an hour into the protest, police in riot gear appeared in the windows where protesters had been. They began to shut the windows and removed flags and banners, including one that said, “You could have divested 41 days ago.”
Around 7:30 p.m., officers used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowd outside the building.
Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) McGill posted a lengthy statement on Telegram, saying the university has so far shut down its demands for McGill to divest from companies with ties to Israel.
Sounds like a charming student body, doesn’t it?

A corruption of the language that has gained almost universal acceptance surrounds the verb, “graduate.” The institution; not the student, graduates. The proper usage is Mr. Robert Smith was graduated from Yale. Mr. Smith did not graduate from Yale. Since the institution has the sole power to confer a degree, it likewise has the power to deny or revoke it. Spitting at faculty during a graduation ceremony should always result in degree denial.

How are any investors, universities or otherwise, supposed to know if the companies they invest in, when they buy the SP500, or any other index, are engaged in commerce with Israel? Where does that end? Why not include muslim countries with human rights records violations?

If the university truly “remains firmly committed to peaceful and respectful dialogue” then it will determine that this students’ actions violated the code of student conduct & will punish the student by withholding the degree and updating the student transcript with an expulsion.
A proper response would have been to punch the student in the mouth. Then have a provost escort the student from the property while tearing up their diploma and preventing them from ever claiming credit for it.
This “violence never solved anything” sure has destroyed our society by allowing bullies and brats to walk all over “civilized” people.
It’s not very popular, but violence has, can, and will solve many problems. When reason fails, violence, properly applied, is the only thing that stands between civilization and barbarism. The public’s lack of understanding of this fact has led to striping police departments country wide of their will to maintain public order. There is going to be a whirlwind to reap.
