Is Vice President Kamala Harris Really So Unpopular Among Voters?

Is Vice President Kamala Harris Really So Unpopular Among Voters?

Harris’ address at the Air Force Academy was powerful and shows she can discharge the duties of President.

While I was in Italy, I caught a news report that Vice President Kamala Harris was wildly unpopular among potential voters and a drag on the Democrats’ 2024 ticket.

With voter concern about President Joe Biden’s age haunting his chances of reelection, a new poll shows his next in line, Vice President Kamala Harris, facing serious doubts about her ability to win the presidency herself, or to perform the job well were she to inherit it.

The POLITICO/Morning consult poll reveals that only a third of voters think it’s likely Harris would win an election were she to become the Democratic nominee, and just three of five Democrats believe she would prevail. A quarter of independents think she would win.

That skepticism extends to her potential future role as the head of her party. Forty-two percent of voters described her as a strong leader, including three-quarters of Democrats but only a third of independents.

However, I have come to doubt everything presented as “fact” and “news” related to this administration. Is she really that unpopular, or is there push-polling or other motivations behind these reports?

After all, Hillary Clinton, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Biden himself all have motivation to make it seem as if Harris is problematic.

Recall that less than a week ago, we were being told that concerns about Biden’s age were “cheap fakes” and numerous media organizations touted that Biden was vital enough to continue for another four years.

Thursday night showed the consequences of the mainstream media and Democrat politicians propping up this massive lie for the entire world to see. How can one believe any report related to the White House going forward?

Professor Jacobson correctly noted that Biden’s cognitive decline is a “national security threat of the highest order.” I would like to pair his thoughts with a personal observation I now have about Harris.

The Vice Present was the keynote speaker for the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) graduation this year. While many of my friends joked about my ability to listen to her address, I intended to giver her the benefit of the doubt. If Harris managed to focus on the cadets and did not promote DEI or insult Republicans, I would applaud quite happily.

Her speech at USAFA academy was pitch perfect. Harris spoke passionately, without slurring, and presented her administration’s defense priorities intelligently.

In her address to this year’s U.S. Air Force Academy graduating class, the vice president called on the cadets to continue the legacy of innovation that has served as the foundation for the nation’s dominance in the skies.

“As it has been for generations, America’s national security and global stability depend on our strength in the sky and space,” Harris said. “And our officers, our nation is counting on you to preserve and extend that strength, including, I will add, through innovation.”

This call to action, Harris said, comes as the United States depends on the air and space prowess it has maintained for generations to deter competitors and defend allies against aggression.

“It was America’s forces in the air that bombed train tracks and fuel depots to prevent Nazi reinforcements from reaching the front lines and helped defeat tyranny and fascism in Europe 80 years ago,” she said. “Over the beaches of Normandy, America won control of the sky and we have kept it ever since.”

I was very pleasantly surprised, and gave her enthusiastic applause . . . as did the rest of the audience. Harris even shook the hand of each and every cadet, including my son. Bonus: She did not fall down on stage.

Now, I am not a fan of her policies. And I will simply point to my 2016 post indicating Harris would likely be a worse U.S. Senator from California than Barbara Boxer.

However, it is clear that Harris is a fully functioning human being capable of making reasoned decisions. She is able to discharge the duties of President.

Interestingly, there are now attempts to rehabilitate her image. A columnist for The New York Times now thinks she can carry the banner in 2024.

A campaign is not a debate, and there is a long road ahead. But the job is to rouse the country out of an alternative universe in which the Trump presidency was actually not that bad. I think she can make that case better than almost anyone in the Democratic Party.

Her polling before this debate was not great — her favorables are as dismal as Biden’s — but recent polls in swing states have shown she could gain trust with voters should she step in for the president. Unlike a drafted candidate, she would start with low expectations she could quite easily exceed. In a world filled with peril, she has been involved in major national security issues, not relegated to ribbon cuttings. Paired with, say, a strong, centrist governor like Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania or Andy Beshear of Kentucky as her running mate, she could win this.

As a side note, here is a picture of me and my son during his graduation week.

And at our stop at the CERN Supercollider in Geneva, Switzerland.

Finally, here I am enjoying a great Swiss beer. I sense I will need even more alcohol as we continue covering the 2024 election.

She is yet another empty suit. We saw that in Barry “peace be upon him” Hussain that at the speech where all he has to is say pretty words he can be a good speaker YET when off prompter and when trying to basically speak off the top of he head he’s about as engaging and interesting as a cock flavoured lollipop.

CamelToe is basically Barry “peace be upon him” Hussain but in a dress. Yes she’s capable of delivering a good speech when she’s been set up for it, has thoroughly rehearsed that speech and sticks to that speech BUUUUUT we’ve seen the real CamelToe who can’t string together a coherent sentence when off prompter and trying to speak off the top of her head.

Don’t be fooled by the empty suit. The world needs a real leader and anyone with a (D) after there name isn’t the leader the world needs now, or ever.

Trump is the real empty suit. He promised to drain the swamp. But he never did. In fact he hired mostly hired swamp people to be in his cabinet, which was a disaster, which he will likely repeat if he he is reelected. He promised to build the wall, but he never did. Trump is all talk, but he doesn’t walk the talk.

Did you also buy an electric car?

    JohnSmith100 in reply to E Howard Hunt. | June 29, 2024 at 4:43 pm

Clearly, electric cars have some merit, keep then away from floods., charge them from your own solar system, keep the in warmer climates, use them for shorter commutes.

I would say that maybe a quarter of the country is suitable for electric car use.

That is not a pretty picture.

So she’s finally got a grown-up to write her speeches. That doesn’t make her presidential material.

healthguyfsu in reply to McGehee 🇺🇲 FJB. | June 29, 2024 at 4:30 pm

If she’s writing her own speeches, that’s a weakness. It means that the only way she can be coherent is if the words come from her. It means she can’t delegate lower tasks (like everyone else who delegates speech writing) and she has mental deficiencies in language processing.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to healthguyfsu. | June 29, 2024 at 4:40 pm

If she’s writing her own speeches, that’s a weakness. It means that the only way she can be coherent is if the words come from her.

That’s just silly and completely backwards.

        No it isn’t at all.

For one, a POTUS has to be able to delegate. There’s been nothing but dysfunction mentioned from Harris’ office since she got there and most of it is staffers saying they can’t work for her. If she’s writing her own speeches now, it is probably because of all the ridiculous freezes and gaffes she has had that make her look unprepared.

Secondly, there are plenty of people with processing disorders that would have trouble reading from a page that wasn’t their own words. The aforementioned gaffes could be symptoms of such a disorder.

Educate yourself a bit before you call something backwards.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to healthguyfsu. | June 29, 2024 at 5:41 pm

Secondly, there are plenty of people with processing disorders that would have trouble reading from a page that wasn’t their own words. The aforementioned gaffes could be symptoms of such a disorder.

          WTF are you talking about??

First of all, this is sillier than your original idea.

Secondly, Harris is a moron. We have heard her try to speak extemporaneously. She’s retarded. It has nothing to do with reading anything.

And your thing about “people who can’t read other people’s words” is just pop-psychology junk science. WTF are you talking about? People who can’t … read?? Most of the stuff people read in their lives is “pther people’s words” (almost all of it, actually) .. but you are trying to make some claim about some very rare neuorological syndrome that … I don’t even know what.

Harris is a retard. That is known.

People who need others to write speeches for them are less than competent (and probably should let the people who write the speeches take the position.

The idea that someone is less impressive because he or she writes his own speeches is crazy. Where would you ever even come up with such an idea – super-rare neurological syndrome notwithstanding??

healthguyfsu in reply to healthguyfsu. | June 29, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Tell me you aren’t under the impression that Trump writes his own speeches?

The only way Harris would write her own is if she had such a rare issue because it is a small task delegated to support for anyone running for office.

I didn’t say she was the optimum president, However, she is far better than Biden.

You can’t undo years of word salads.

There is a CIO of a major corporation that is often in the news who is as bad as K.

Qualified for nothing. Runs the business into the ground. Only has held positions (no pun intended on K’s questionable history) because she is female.

I get your point ; she is an actual functional human being who is not in early stage dementia. I don’t not like Harris, I think she’s an airhead with a religious obsession with DEI and a penchant for cackling, lying and having no empathy; but yes it would less scary to have her in charge because at least you would know she was in charge versus Biden where we don’t know whose pulling the puppet strings.

          Congratulation on your son’s graduation!

Harris problem has been that she doesn’t like to prepare, and doesn’t put the effort in.

Speaking off the cuff is not a strong suit, and she breaks down at hard questions.

Everything she was responsible for in the administration was worse under her.

Lastly she is 100 % behind the bad policies that people are rejecting, and she was in on the big lie that Joe was AOK!

The voters, or at least a majority of them wont support her.

Kamala is dingbat. She actually attempted to speak english in what she thought was french accent, when visiting europe.

Harris is a horribly bad politician and stikes me as singularly unimpressive. In CA, a.one party d/prog State, she enjoyed the anointing of the CA d/prog elders….one in particular… and was elected on the strength and the power of the CA d/prog political machine. Without such built-in levels of support she failed about and sputtered in the ’20 d/prog primary famously getting gutted by Tulsi Gabbard during an early debate and dropped out within a few days having less than 5% support. She is VP only because Jim Clyburn demanded the selection of an African American female as his price to throw his support to Biden in SC, the South in general and within the ‘black’ d/prog constituency of the d/prog party nationally.

Harris? Hell to the no, no, nooo.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | June 29, 2024 at 4:34 pm

LOL. To quote George Thorogood:

“Ever-body funny … now, you funny, too!”

Change her out at the convention for someone Democrats want to succeed Biden.

But if she is president, who knows? She will get public support, but how long would the honeymoon last.

Would she have any better chance against Trump, whose case seems stronger by the day.

Clinton lurks. Vindication for 2016. Stranger things have happened.

Clinton is as spry and healthy as Biden. She passed out at an event in scorching 70 degree weather in 2016. She hasn’t gotten younger since then.

She buried exculpatory evidence to imprison innocent people, particularly young black men. Make that well-known, personalized with some of her victims on camera, and she wouldn’t be able to get elected to hall monitor.

She was selected VP so no one would dare remove Biden.

And I wish people would stop confusing being able to read other peoples’ words with intelligence.

How is that different than any other Democrat? Yes she is awful …

… and I think she is broadly disliked – but the warning to not underestimate the ability to airbrush her and try to rehabilitate her is a good one.

Stakes are too high to risk having her in the White House if she becomes the nominee.

The biggest reason is that she can’t run away from Biden’s record.

You get her in a debate and she will melt down. She lost right out the gate in the 2020 primary. Her unlikability is almost Hillary Clinton levels.

Put lipstick on that pig and call it a Clark bar, for no matter how you slice it the nuts are always there.

wever, it is clear that Harris is a fully functioning human being capable of making reasoned decisions. She is able to discharge the duties of President.

Interesting

You are EASILY influenced and oh so terribly wrong

Scary that you wound even wrote this

Keep clapping

We can be guided by dialogue from two iconic Hollywood movies, to learn what is likely transpiring behind the scenes, as jilted harlot “of color,” Kamala vents her pique and frustration at narcissist-incompetent-dunce, Obama (AKA, Biden’s puppetmaster):

““I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!

I’m not going to be ignored, Barack!”

Congratulations to your son. Perhaps I’ll see him when I’m grocery shopping at McGuire AFB commissary.

Congratulations on your son’s graduation, Ms. Eastman. However, it is likely that the excitement and happiness around your son’s graduation biased you toward a more favorable opinion of that speech. And it also was very likely the speech was written for her by a team of aides.

PS. Enjoy the moment. That’s what it’s all about.

amatuerwrangler | June 29, 2024 at 5:59 pm

Kammie has been given several tasks within the administration and none came to much. Remember, she is the “Border Czar” . As such she only ventured in the direction of the southern border once, and that was a drive-by. And the border is as much, or more, of a disaster as it was when she got the job.

She was once the CA Attorney General. I know a person who worked in that office (clerical staff) who describes things as constant turmoil, so much that people left. My friend opted for a clerical spot in a prison as a relief from it.

Leslie, you have to look for more than a single data point before you plot the curve. A speech that involved no decision making or consequences to her if it did not come off well is not a sound basis for predicting success as POTUS.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to amatuerwrangler. | June 30, 2024 at 8:21 pm

“Joe Biden” gave her an impossible task for which she was guaranteed to fail. The problem with the border is Joe Biden’s policies.

Harris is as bad as Loathsome Joe.

Sane volema kara rara kamelo venas.: “A healthily wishful dear rare camel is coming.” (Esperanto palindrome)

We live in the American era of failing upward.

The British polished it to a high standard. Just before the outbreak of war, Mountbatten took command of his new ship, HMS Kelly:

{…} In May, Mountbatten first found himself isolated off the Dutch coast, fruitlessly chasing a U-boat, and then needlessly broadcasting his position by signalling with a bright Aldis light; one message read: “How are the muskets? Let battle commence.” The immediate result was the Kelly was torpedoed, blasting a 50-foot hole in the starboard side, killing 27 and wounding many more but, though heavily damaged and with only emergency lighting, she had survived.

Noting your mention of the constant lies from this regime and the Left in general, one key question:

“Harris spoke passionately, without slurring, and presented her administration’s defense priorities intelligently.”

What basis do you have to believe that any of the things she said had even a passing relationship to what she really wants, believes, or would do if in power?

Subotai Bahadur

Biden’s condition is a now a national security issue; Harris gave high-quality address at USAFA and I assert is far more capable of being President than Biden.

People can rise to the occasion. Again, not a fan of Harris….but she is a far better option at this point than letting Biden continue.

CommoChief in reply to Leslie Eastman. | June 30, 2024 at 10:13 am

TBH, I would prefer the continuity of whomever is actually running the Executive Branch, as disastrously stupid as the decisions have been, to the potential for even greater chaos from Harris trying to make her mark over till January. Harris with her hands on the levers of power is not a risk I want to be part of. It isn’t as if Biden’s Staff and more specifically Jill are letting grandpa Biden make actual decisions anyway, why allow someone as actively stupid as Harris who wouldn’t be controllable to govern? Hell to the no, no noooo.

        The_Mew_Cat in reply to CommoChief. | June 30, 2024 at 8:19 pm

I’m not sure you are right. “Joe Biden” has been continually escalating the stalemated Ukraine War. What happens if Ukraine starts to actually lose in September or October? Will the people running Biden send in US Troops? Probably. That would be a disaster that would put us on a rapid path to nuclear war. Would KH send in US troops? I don’t know, but I have a little more confidence in her than in the DS bureaucrats running Biden. Not much more confidence, but we are talking about survival here, and every little bit helps.

amatuerwrangler in reply to Leslie Eastman. | June 30, 2024 at 11:59 am

People CAN rise to the occasion.

Harris has never chosen to do so.

She is as much a pawn of the cabal that installed and manipulates Biden as Biden himself.

She is neither competent nor capable.

Insisting that she is anything more than another disastrous option is hurting your credibility.

She was forced off the campaign before the first primary vote. Tulsi Gabbard dropped a nuclear truth bomb that devastated her campaign.

Then the private corporation democrat decided she will be the democrat choice for vp and everyone will like it (or else) because she checks off the boxes they demanded. Besides, she is insurance that old Joe will finish his term in office.

The campaign was the past. Today, Biden’s dementia is a national security issue.

wendybar in reply to Leslie Eastman. | June 30, 2024 at 6:13 am

The article’s headline asked if she was unpopular, not if she was an immediately necessary replacement for the named president who can now be clearly seen as a figurehead who is incompetent to stand trial for crimes committed and totally incapacitated to be president today. So yes, this is a national security issue.

The democrat party, a private corporation, quite obviously made the decision who was to be the vp, for whatever reason. I am certain it wasn’t her public popularity that carried her over the line

The answer to the headline is Yes, she is. RCP’s latest favoribility polls have her at a -15 slightly less than Biden but 3 pts worse than Trumps -12. Don’t get carried away because that bag of hammers read a prepared speech ok.

“ However, it is clear that Harris is a fully functioning human being capable of making reasoned decisions. She is able to discharge the duties of President.”

Because she read a speech?

The_Mew_Cat | June 30, 2024 at 8:12 pm

Could Harris function as President – yes. Is she preferable to the senile sack in the White House right now? Yes, simply on national security grounds. Could she win the 2024 election as President? I don’t know. Lots of Democrats don’t have any confidence that she could win the election. That lack of confidence is for very good reason. She is not a good politician, and she is not likeable to swing voters. Biden won 2020 primarily on personal likeability, as seen by suburban swing voters. KH would have to pursue a different path if she became the nominee. I think she could do it, but she would have to take Taylor Swift as her VP and bank the entire campaign on getting young women to turn out at >80% rates.

I don’t think Kamala Harris could win, but it won’t go over big with the identity obsessed Democrat base if they don ‘t pick her as a replacement for Biden and go with a White man or a White woman, namely Newsome and Whitmer. To them, that screams of racism, and it won’t go over well with Black voters especially Black female voters. As far as I can see if they don’t play by their own stupid identity politics rules they are screwed. Meaning if Biden is to be replaced it has to be Harris.
