George Stephanopoulos Rips the Mask Off, Gives CNN Advice on How to ‘Get’ Trump in the Debate

George Stephanopoulos Rips the Mask Off, Gives CNN Advice on How to ‘Get’ Trump in the Debate

It’s time for people to stop treating him as a journalist and acknowledge him for what he is. A former Bill Clinton staffer and Democrat party strategist masquerading as a member of the press.

George Stephanopoulos recently appeared on CNN with host Abby Phillip and advised the network on going after Donald Trump in the first debate.

This is the political director of ABC News advising another media outlet on how to take down a candidate. That is not the role of people in media.

It’s time for people to stop treating him as a journalist and acknowledge him for what he is. A former Bill Clinton staffer and Democrat party strategist masquerading as a member of the press.

How does he even have this role? Imagine Steve Bannon or Stephen Miller as the political director of NBC News. Do you think anyone on the left would accept that?

FOX News reports:

Stephanopoulos gives debate advice, urges CNN to grill Trump about 2020 election during upcoming debate

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos advised CNN that former President Trump should be confronted with whether he believes in the results of the 2020 election during the first upcoming presidential debate.

When asked by CNN host Abby Phillip on Monday night what the “most important question” for both candidates should be in the June 27 debate moderated by the network, Stephanopoulos responded that it should be “very simple.”

“Who won the last election?” he said. “Let’s discuss and debate.”

Stephanopoulos said that he has made it a “point” that if he is speaking with a candidate or a politician who won’t accept that the 2020 election was completely legitimate, then he will not “go on to other issues.”

“I’m not going to participate in some kind of a sham where you somehow equate the legitimacy of an election or the peaceful transfer of power with a debate over tax cuts or environmental regulation,” he explained. “If you can’t pass that fundamental threshold of saying, ‘yes the last election was not stolen,’ two, ’I will abide by the results of the next election,’ then I think that’s all voters and viewers need to know.”

See the clip below:

This gotcha from Stephanopoulos isn’t even hard to refute. If I were advising Trump, I’d tell him just to turn the question back on Democrats and the media. I’ll tell you what George, I’ll say Biden won the 2020 election fair and square if you admit that Democrats and almost everyone in your industry lied to the country for four years about me winning the 2016 election because of Russia. Do you admit it?

I might also suggest bringing up Molly Ball’s February 2020 Time Magazine column, in which she brags about the ‘shadow campaign’ that ‘fortified’ the 2020 election. They don’t get to shriek if you question the 2020 election, then turn around and brag about how they rigged it.

Stephanopoulos is laying the groundwork for a narrative that Trump is not legitimate. Look at what he recently said to an editor for Mediaite.

He is a vicious little toady and extreme partisan. Republicans should shut him out completely. Don’t do his show, don’t talk to his people, and don’t respond to their requests for information.

With all due respect, we have known this for the past two decades. Toady, indeed, apt description.

Team Trump should be able to handle this. This show Dems narrow mind. They keep asking this question and failing.

That is really a double edged sword.

The last time Democrats accepted the election of a Republican President was 1988. They contested and still don’t accept W, or W2, and certainly not 45.

So, Democrats, who won in 2001, 2004, and 2016? You answer that and then Trump might be inclined to answer who won in ‘20.

Maybe go back to ask about 1968 and go forward from there. That seems to me to be the closest example to 2020.

True. I meant ’60. Must have fat fingered or maybe it was Freudian slip with George Wallace declaring there wasn’t a ‘dimes worth of difference between them’? That has changed among the voters but DC establishment still seems stuck on far more uniparty than difference.

Indeed, my immediate response as well; the long forgotten never again mentioned Chicago voting machines about which half the population alive today has never heard.

In the distant future historians will marvel at subsequent creation of a Federal Deep State over a half century’s time. It became so widely and deeply corrupt and arrogant that it was able to create a near decade long of series of investigations with the sole purpose of publicly destroying the reputation of a single man for the sole reason that they didn’t like him and that he had exposed its existence.

The investigation featured a cast of characters ranging from a tawdry pair of second rate adulterous lovers, through dozens upon dozens of shabby, preening bureaucrats up through several cycles of the most senior level, unelected appointee, devious and openly dishonest, arrogant, pouting bureaucrats. Over time the decade-long investigations were shown to have been a complete fictional fraud, but to no matter.

Because, all the while there grew a professional cast of little nebbish-like creatures, similar in so many ways to the sycophantic eunuchs of earlier ages, who publicly skittered about at the feet of this colossus yipping constantly to the citizenry at large like a pack of puppy-like little dogs and hyenas.

The upshot of this half century of political intrigues was the “election” of a third-rate, debauched, mediocrity to the self-deceiving position described to a snickering world as “the most powerful man on earth” and the installation of a supporting cast of improbable inept administrators of comic descriptions. The entire period will rival any tragedy or history Shakespeare ever wrote about.

George Stephanopolous’s role in the drama will have been as one of the eunuch-like yippers skittering about the stage.

Who were the moderators for the Lincoln-Douglas debates? Oh, that’s right. There weren’t any. Conservatives have to move away from these joint press conference and back to actual debates. Partisan journalists (redundant, I know) shouldn’t be asking questions of candidates. They should be announcing topics and keeping the time: ‘Gentleman, for the next 15-minutes, the topic will be the Israel-Gaza war.’ That’s it. That’s the ONLY roll of the ‘moderator.’ Enough of this this tag-team BS where the panel of ‘journalists’ works with coordination to attack the GOP candidate and protect the DNC candidate.

Of course, it’s too late for this now because Trump accepted the terms of the debate without any conditions whatsoever.

Yes. I should have been more clear. Exactly like the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the debate topics would be established before the debate began. When both men showed up, they knew exactly what the topic of debate was going to be that day. It would – should – work the same way today.

When are conservatives going to realize that there is no “Free Press?”

The “Press” (normally referred to as the Mainstream or Old Media, which also includes Fox News and any other so-called “Center Right” or “Right” news), whether broadcast, broadsheet, or Internet are nothing more than Corporations.

They are all in the business of making money, and anything they put out is to generate revenue.

As Corporations, they should not be granted 1st Amendment “Freedom of the Press” similar to what our founding press had.

Especially given that the left wing media is more of a Soviet/Nazi propaganda arm of the Marxist Communist Party (previously the Democratic Party).

    TargaGTS in reply to AF_Chief_Master_Sgt. | June 12, 2024 at 8:31 am

FWIW, the term ‘free press’ – when written by James Madison – had nothing to do with professional journalism. It was referring to the literal printing press. In colonial America, the crown controlled what was said in the American colony by setting prohibitive taxes on the importation and use of the printing press, paper and ink. They made using the press so expensive through taxation that it was not accessible for most normal people.

It wasn’t until some time in the very late 19th (or more likely) very early 20th century that the phrase ‘free press’ came to be a euphemism for professional journalists. It was most likely coined and advanced by publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who later created the ‘Pulitzer Prize.’

Now, with respect to corporations not enjoying the protection of the 1st Amendment, that’s a bad, bad idea. Do you want to live in a world where the smallest and largest, most impactful organizations – all of which are corporations don’t get to say what they want without government approval? Of course not. The left would use this power to IMMEDIATELY silence the NRA, The Heritage Foundation, Rumble, Dailywire, LegalInsurrection and countless other non-traditional media outlets.

My terminology for freedom of the press as it relates to Corporations is meant for the extraordinary leeway given to corporate media using the frees press moniker as a shield.

That does not in any way remove freedom of speech from corporations, as I believe you are alluding to.

I only want corporate propagandists to be held to the same standard of freedom of speech given to corporations. A corporation can be sued for slander and libel, but a corporate press has an extra-Constitutional claim of being able to say and do anything they wish.

OK, I get your point. What you’re describing is not a ‘free speech’ issue per se, but rather, it’s a ‘media’ exception that has been carved out (almost exclusively by the judiciary) to defamation laws. The Founders NEVER intended the 1st Amendment to be a shield against defamatory language, never meant to prohibit people who were victims of defamatory language from having access to civil courts to get justice.

Correct. Thanks for the opportunity to explain.

The corporate propagandists abuse the privilege that they get by using the freedom of the press to shield them from lies they tell.

About that “election,” what amazes me is that academia churns out an overabundance of liberal arts majors who have to scrape the bottom of the barrel straining to find something to write about, can’t, and waste their time with the most absurd minutiae of irrelevant matters yet ignore the 2020 election. An almost revolutionary shift in how elections previously occurred, with serious historical, political, and legal implications up to the @#$! and, by some forced consensus, academia is virtually silent. I think wankers is an apt description of them..

“That is not the role of people in media.”

It is the role the “media” members have been working to expand since their days of covering for Roosevelt the Younger, promoting him and his programs while hiding his disability from the people. With particular exceptions they have become the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

The term “mask” is a misnomer. It actually consists of a tube of lipstick Democrats apply liberally to their fair-haired loved ones.

Ann Richards once said, “Well, you can put lipstick on a hog and call it Monique, and it’s still a pig.”

Or you can call it a Stephanopolis, and it’s still a freaking pig.

In Ann Richards case (which was probably of cheap vodka), she was the pig wearing the lipstick. My grandparents knew that woman very well. She was notorious around Austin for going on benders and horrifically abusing anyone that came within her (double vision) sights and leaving a path of destruction a mile wide. She had a great sense of humor, just not about herself—and certainly never showed a scintilla of remorse about the damage she caused.

Take that back. ABC is as Progressive as Georgie. Considering they count The View as part of their news division, just goes to show they are all there to Propagate the Progressive party agenda.

Just ask George to look into the camera and say that he truly believes that Joe got 81 million legal, Constitutionally qualified votes in 2020

George has a master’s degree in theology. That makes him a journalist in his eyes.

the cloward-piven arm of the law has been utilized to its need and has taken over the american way of life

now normalized via the

if we can do this to trump think of what we can/will do to you people ,next

and its working

the msm salivates over its next…

look, a karen called out a poc etc etc

the infrastructure of america has been taken over

we alll know it

and it frustrates those who hate the hypocrisy etc alll b/c we really know what the only solution is since the ballot box isnt working and when the left

ALLOWS a victory by the “opposition” the lefty is really still in control via the

aforementioned cloward piven msm schools being run by the left

The question pushing a candidate to accept the elections unconditionally is getting tiresome.

I would suggest that Trump respond to that question by saying, I am planning to follow the advice of one the currently most astute political observers of our time and ” not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out, and eventually, I do believe [ I ] will win if we don’t give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side is,” That bit of advice was given to the current president in the 2020 election by Hillary Clinton.

That’s actually a loser of a question. So many Americans believe the 2020 election was stolen that an admission by a candidate that they believe that this is so isn’t going to hurt anyone.

Answer, “I believe the 2020 election was stolen. And I will contest any election I am a party to when I think the results have been miscounted or in which criminal activity influenced the count.”

People who are still on the fence don’t want to hear mealy-mouthed platitudes and the politically correct answer (literally what GS says he would require in reply to the questions). Americans want a candidate who says what me means and means what he says.

CNN still hasn’t come clean about which of their employees gave all of the debate questions to Hillary for her debate against Trump (which DNC Chair Donna Brazille admitted happened).

Insane that they’re allowed to host a debate at all.

I fully expect this “debate” to be just like every other debate I’ve watched over the last 50 years – the “moderators” will debate the R candidate, choosing questions designed to hurt him as much as possible, and toss a few softball questions to the D to make him look good, and jump in to save him any time he gets into trouble.
