Biden’s Executive Order Shows No Impact on Border Crisis

Border patrol sources told Fox News’s Griff Jenkins and Bill Melugin that President Joe Biden’s executive order supposedly limiting asylum seekers on the border has shown no impact.

No impact besides going into effect immediately because no one is seeking asylum.

There are too many caveats and exceptions and insufficient personnel to handle everyone.

“President Biden is issuing a presidential proclamation that will temporarily suspend the entry of non-citizens across the southern border once the number of average border encounters exceeds 2,500 a day over seven days, officials said,” said the White House. “That will stay in effect until 14 days after there has been a seven-day average of less than 1,500 encounters along the border.”

Daily crossings have averaged 4,000 people daily.

That means officials should have stopped many people starting yesterday.

Well…Jenkins wrote on Twitter:

NEW ~ NO IMPACT: CBP sources tell me & @BillMelugin_ that in the first full day of Biden’s EO – no impact on the border… plus NEW numbers since Biden took office:Yesterday, Border Patrol apprehended just about 4,000 illegal immigrants between ports of entry at the southern border. On par w/ averages in recent weeks…Overall, there were roughly 5,600 CBP encounters yesterday, which includes the 4,000 illegal crossings and CBP One App releases at ports of entry. On top of that, CBP data provided by our sources shows over 1,000 illegal immigrants were released into the U.S. yesterday, just in San Diego sector alone. Mass catch & release continues.

I know it’s conservative stations covering the border, but come on. Melugin and others interview the people crossing the border. They rarely mention asylum.

This morning, 200 people crossed into Jacumba, CA. They came from China, India, Mauritania, Peru, and other countries.

Gee, I wonder how many are claiming asylum?

I’m going to say none.

Bill and his team witnessed another large crossing, around 140, this afternoon, made up of mostly adult males.

Most of them came from China, Egypt, and Turkey.

It took over four hours for border patrol to come to get them.

The border patrol also told Jenkins and Melugin some new numbers under Biden.

It’s not good:

CBP sources also confirm since Biden took office:January 20, 2021 – present (southern border)Total CBP encounters: 8,051,059Total Border Patrol apprehensions of illegal immigrants: 6,960,016Total CBP port of entry encounters (including CBP One App): 1,091,044Unaccompanied children encounters: 503,022Special interest alien encounters: 162,173
