Students of ‘Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee’ Renounce Protests in Favor of ‘Open Intifada’

Students of ‘Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee’ Renounce Protests in Favor of ‘Open Intifada’

“Let’s be clear: this isn’t about free speech, this is a call to terrorism, plain and simple.”

Students who are part of the anti-Israel ‘Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee’ are now eschewing protests and calling for ‘open intifada’ in ‘every capital and city.

Remember when Democrats and the media called the Tea Party a terrorist organization? Where are they now? These student radicals are getting a pass because they’re part of the Democrat voter base.

In a curious twist, Harvard supposedly suspended this group back in April.

The Harvard Crimson reported:

Harvard Suspends Palestine Solidarity Committee Amid Wave of Protests on College Campuses

Harvard College suspended the Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee and ordered the group to “cease all organizational activities for the remainder of the Spring 2024 term” or risk permanent expulsion, according to an email obtained by The Crimson.

The suspension comes amid a wave of pro-Palestine student demonstrations across the country, with students staging occupations at universities including Columbia and Yale Universities. Though there have not been occupations at Harvard this semester, the University restricted access to Harvard Yard on Sunday in anticipation of student protests.

The PSC was one of several student organizations, including some unrecognized student organizations, to stage a rally in Harvard Yard on Friday in solidarity with student activists at Columbia, more than 100 of whom were arrested on Thursday by the New York City Police Department…

The group also found itself at the center of controversy in the immediate aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel, when the PSC published a statement co-signed by more than 30 other student groups that stated it held “the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence” from Hamas’ attack.

After the suspension, sympathizers invaded Harvard Yard to set up an encampment.

Early in April, Professor Jacobson pointed out that these campus protesters were getting frustrated because no matter how loud they scream … it’s really not getting them anywhere:

The anti-Israel groups are really ramping up. We see it at Cornell also, the administration is struggling to prevent them from marching through buildings with bullhorns disrupting students who are studying.

So I think there’s a real frustration growing among the anti-Israel students that no matter how loud they scream, no matter how nasty they become, no matter how many die-ins they do, it’s really not getting them anywhere. And I think it’s going to get a lot worse. And unfortunately, the Jewish students, but not just Jewish students, but students who support the United States, pro-American students, pro-Israel students, pro-Western civilization students are the ones who are the targets.

Now they’re calling for escalation and open intifada.

The longer this is allowed to fester, the worse it will get.

DeSantis was not wrong. As he said back in October shutting down certain groups, he claimed that pro-Palestinian groups on state campuses had “themselves said in the aftermath of the Hamas attack that they don’t just stand in solidarity, that they are part of this Hamas movement”.

It’s not just a free speech issue in a vacuum.

But I repeat myself.

Saying that they are part of the Hamas movement is free speech, and Desantis had no right to act against them over it.

But acting on it is not free speech, and the moment they do they should be arrested.

Rachel in reply to Milhouse. | May 29, 2024 at 9:22 am

Yes, they can say that they’re part of the Hamas movement, but whether that is protected speech depends on whether they explicitly incite violence against Israelis, non-Israeli Jews or anyone else. In fact, since Hamas’s charter states that its goal is the elimination of Israel as the first step towards the genocide of Jews worldwide, it could be argued that saying that one is part of the “Hamas movement” is in fact incitement to genocidal violence.

Milhouse in reply to Rachel. | May 29, 2024 at 10:32 am

No, that is complete nonsense. There is no exception to the first amendment for “calling for genocide”.

Incitement is an exception, but nothing they have said comes anywhere even remotely resembling incitement.

Not only is saying that one is part of the Hamas movement not incitement, neither is explicitly announcing from the rooftops that the Jews should all be wiped out, that Hitler had the right idea, that Auschwitz should be restarted, etc. That is all 100% protected speech, and nothing even resembling incitement.

Threats are another exception, but nothing in the above paragraph comes anywhere near being a threat either.

“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, said. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

CincyJan in reply to Milhouse. | May 29, 2024 at 3:30 pm

I think if I were Jewish I would consider those actual threats, and my next move would be to assess if those making the threats had the ability to carry them out. I wouldn’t be so cavalier about those words, particularly if I had Jewish children and grands.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | May 29, 2024 at 8:12 pm

I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, said. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

And? What has this got to do with anything? Surely you’re not suggesting that she broke any law by saying that, or that it’s not protected speech?!

I think if I were Jewish I would consider those actual threats,

You can certainly take these things to heart, and take appropriate precautions, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about whether the government can do anything about them, and that depends on whether they are legally threats, which are an exception to the first amendment.

And the thing is it’s not up to you or anyone else to “consider” them threats. The law says they’re not. The government can’t just “consider” something a threat, it has to fit within the very narrow definition that the Supreme Court has laid down; anything outside that definition is not a threat, and is thus protected speech.

years back would have agreed with you

but you are thinking on HOW IT SHOULD BE /WAS

now pro americans are “Arrested” for disorderly conduct

that was already proven to you last time you posted the same message on a different article

again,,, you are thinking about the way should be or was

WE HAVE TO DEAL with what the reality is

you would then say but we are bowing to their ways

and I would AGAIN state they only understand violence

they dont care about debate etc ( defeated your pov on THAT regarding Roth at the University)

      again

lefty is ready and willing to do violence

      thattt is the difference

      we dont want violence

      but they do

      they dont want debate

Milhouse in reply to destroycommunism. | May 29, 2024 at 8:29 pm

        The constitution has not changed.

You have never proven anything to me.

Nobody is arrested for expressing protected speech; you did NOT prove otherwise, no matter what you imagine you did. And you were wrong about Roth, too; you didn’t defeat anything, you simply made a wrong assertion.

In any event, even if what you were saying were true, it wouldn’t change the fact that for the government to infringe the freedom of speech is ILLEGAL and it is EVIL, it is exactly what the USA exists to prevent, so NOTHING can justify it. It doesn’t matter what they want, or are ready to do; so long as they are merely expressing an opinion the government CANNOT do anything to them, and any official who does so is a CRIMINAL. There, are those enough capital letters for you?

PS: I really wonder whether the problem with so many of your comments is simply a language issue. Maybe you’re just not fully comfortable expressing yourself in English. That would explain a lot.

rwingjr in reply to Milhouse. | May 30, 2024 at 7:14 pm

If they are saying they are part of the Hamas movement, and the Hamas movement is calling for insurrection and the elimination of Jews, I don’t believe that is protected speech if they decide to set up encampments preventing students, particularly Jewish students from attending school. That is acting on it and is illegal. In addition, they are calling for acts of violence against others and, in some instances, attacking them. If you claim that is not illegal, would it be legal for those being attacked to pull out a weapon and start shooting them? Of course, it would be legal, as Kyle Rittenhouse showed. Wouldn’t it be better to stop all of that before it takes place? Stop it with the threats, which appear to be credible in this case. By declaring they are part of Hamas, they are declaring they will commit violence and that would be similar to “yelling ‘Fire’ in a crowded theater”.

The Hamasholes should be very careful what they wish for; they may get it, good and hard.

drsamherman in reply to Dimsdale. | May 28, 2024 at 2:46 pm

Just expel them, especially the foreign students if they are advocating violence. I do believe that advocating violence against the US is a violation of Visa terms and subjects one to revocation of said Visa.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to drsamherman. | May 28, 2024 at 6:40 pm

Under the current administration, advocating violence against the US is a plus towards permanent residency/citizenship.

. I do believe that advocating violence against the US is a violation of Visa terms and subjects one to revocation of said Visa.

No, it can’t be, because that would violate the first amendment. People outside the USA who have advocated violence don’t need to be given visas, but once they are in the USA they have the absolute right to advocate whatever they like, no matter how evil, and the government cannot punish them for it in any way, including by withdrawing privileges they didn’t have to be given in the first place.

This certainly worked during the Antifa/BLM riots. The Latin Kings told the Chicago Police they could send cops elsewhere because the Latin Kings would take care of their own neighborhood. Then word went out that any Antifa/BLM rioters entering Latin Kings territory would be killed. Worked like a charm to maintain the peace.

henrybowman in reply to destroycommunism. | May 28, 2024 at 2:01 pm

A definition entirely convenient to a Marxist, being as it is totally wrong.
Under this definition, the text of the Second Amendment itself qualifies.

The people of the US are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution.

2smartforlibs | May 28, 2024 at 1:51 pm

Useful idiots, only the name changes.

They need to enforce a permanent expulsion, Then give them an hour to vacate the campus. If they are on campus after an hour have them arrested for criminal trespass.

So they are openly advocating terrorism. Gotcha.

Milhouse in reply to Andy. | May 29, 2024 at 6:03 am

Advocacy is protected speech. Acting on it is not. Actual, specific, and credible threats are also not protected, and are a crime.

That seems clear enough. The members who disagree should immediately and publicly resign their membership in and/or affiliation with these groups. Those who don’t do that can’t claim ‘oh, that’s not what I believe’ at some future date. No lenient sentencing or kid gloves for these latter day versions of the 60’s & ’70s domestic terror org.

Milhouse in reply to CommoChief. | May 29, 2024 at 6:05 am

or attacking maga people with charges of disorderly conduct while ignoring the actual violence of the left ( look to the trump 2016 primaries where even the police chief of one ( milpitas??) area said he would do noting after leftists attacked trump supporters etc etc

you are trying “too hard” to play /pretend?/be fair

Milhouse in reply to destroycommunism. | May 29, 2024 at 8:57 pm

I don’t care what happens in “western” countries that don’t have an equivalent to the first amendment and don’t respect fundamental human rights. These are also countries where people are arrested for “hate speech”, and for providing themselves with the means to defend themselves from attack, where they are deprived of due process, are subjected to retroactive taxes, and all kinds of other violations.

In the USA nobody is arrested merely for expressing their viewpoint. Nobody is arrested for praying, or for “hate speech”, or anything like that. Of course people are arrested for trespassing on private property, or for harassing people, or for disorderly conduct; nobody has any right to do these things even if they are expressing an opinion at the same time, and those who do so deserve to be arrested. The fact that leftist violence is ignored is irrelevant; it does not change the fact that those on the right who were arrested for disorderly conduct were guilty and deserved to be arrested for it.

People are also arrested for violating the small buffer zones that state and local governments are entitled to establish around abortion clinics where experience shows it is necessary to prevent protesters from obstructing access or from harassing people; such zones are required by law to be no larger than they have to be, and they may not be so large that protesters are prevented from conveying their message to those entering and leaving.

Right now, while it’s easy, someone should be collecting the names of the students and publishing an easily accessible listing to aid future employers.

Sadly, I suspect that most of them are trust-fund babies who don’t actually need work.

Well, our DoJ domestic terrorism folks will be all over that in a hot minute…

Ha. Ha, ha, ha. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Saying ‘I am a terrorist” is free speech.

Saying ‘I am a member of a terrorist organization’ is free speech.

Saying ‘I am going to engage in terrorism’ is free speech.

Saying ‘I am going to kill the jews’ is free speech.

Saying ‘I am preparing to do this’ is free speech.

Saying ‘I am going to do this right now’ is free speech.

No specific Jew is threatened. No specific way of killing is elaborated.

It’s all free speech.

It’s not a madman letting us know he’s a madman and giving us chance after chance to stop him.

No.

We have to wait until he’s standing over a corpse. THEN it’s acting .

The First Amendment is not the suicide pact the left wants you to think it is.

Free Speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of that speech.

The left wants you to hate free speech so when they try to get rid of it you’ll gladly help.

We don’t have to wait until they act.

We can take them at their word and behave accordingly.

The left wants free speech to be a noose.

We need to make people remember that it’s a Colt

Whoever says “the constitution is not a suicide pact” shows himself to be an enemy of the USA and everything it stands for. Starting with Justice Robert Jackson, who seems to have invented the phrase in 1949 in order to undermine the freedom of speech.

even when on video when the good person is attacked the blmplo lawforce has made sure that it is to be known that any opposition to their status as always the victim

can and will be met with violence or as the left likes to say

      peaceful protests

Milhouse in reply to destroycommunism. | May 29, 2024 at 8:59 pm

That is completely irrelevant. If you are demanding government action that violates the constitution then you are the enemy and have no right to consider yourself better than a communist or a nazi.

They’re taking it to the streets.
We thought the 2020 “Summer of Love” was bad, buckle up

Bullying liberals with threats of violence appears to be a totally successful tactic. Not sure actual violence will work as well, especially outside liberal areas. I’m not even sure threats of violence are protected free speech. What I am sure of is that the pro-Palestine movement is over-playing its hand.
