SCOTUS Chief Justice Roberts Also Declines to Speak With Democrats About Alito and the Flags

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts told Democratic lawmakers he would not meet with them about the flags at Justice Samuel Alito’s home.

The Democrats have been trying everything in their power to make sure Trump loses his cases regarding the 2020 election and January 6th protests.

The Appeal to Heaven and upside-down American flags outside of the Alitos’ house are the latest weapons to use against Trump. (And Alito…their hatred for him went through the roof when someone leaked his opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.)

The Democrats want Alito to recuse himself.

Alito already kindly enough told the Democrats to, you know, um, go away.

Roberts, like Alito, was more eloquent than I would have been:

I must respectfully decline your request for a meeting. As noted in my letter to Chairman [DICK] Durbin last April, apart from ceremonial events, onlu on rare occasions in our Nation’s history has a sitting Chief Justice met with legislators, even in a public setting (such as a Committee hearing) with members of both major political parties present. Separation of powers concerns and the importance of preserving judicial independence counsel against such appearances. Moreover, the format proposed – a meeting with leaders of only one party who have expressed an interest in matters currently pending before the Court – simply underscores that participating in such a meeting would be inadvisable.

In other words…stop politicizing SCOTUS.

An Appeal to Heaven and upside down American flag ticked off the Democrats because the Alitos flew it outside of one of their homes. It’s a sign of hatred and stolen 2020 election because people carried it on January 6!

They also carried American flags and the Gadsden flag.

The Appeal to Heaven flag has roots back to the Revolutionary War. I’m glad to know that the Democrats hate America. Well, we knew that, but happy to know they won’t hide it.

Alito said his wife did it. So what if she did? Do these men want Alito to control his wife, or do they want women to be free and make their own decisions?

Guess who flies the flags in my household? ME. Alito reminds the Democrats his wife is her own person:

My wife and I own our Virginia home jointly. She therefore has the legal right to use the property as she sees fit, and there were no additional steps that I could have taken to have the flag taken down more promptly. My wife’s reasons for flying the flag are not relevant for present purposes, but I note that she was greatly distressed at the time due, in a large part, to a very nasty neighborhood dispute in which I had no involvement. A house on the street displayed a sign attacking her personally, and a man who was living in the house at the time trailed her all the way down the street and berated her in my presence using foul language, including what I regard as the vilest epithet that can be addressed to a woman. My wife is a private citizen and she possess the same First Amendment rights as every other American. She makes her own decisions, and I have always respected her right to do so. She has made many sacrifices to accommodate my service on the Supreme Court, including the insult of having to endure numerous loud, obscene, and personally insulting protests in front of our home that continue to this day and now threaten to escalate.Anyway, I honestly think all the justices are sick of everyone trying to politicize SCOTUS. It should rarely be used.

MIC DROP:

I am confident any reasonable person who is not motivated by political or ideological considerations or a desire to affect the outcome of Supreme Court cases would conclude that the events recounted above do not meet the applicable standard for recusal. I am therefore required to reject your request.

Alito admitted he lacked familiarity with the Appeal to Heaven flag, which shocked me. But whatever.
