Over $350,000 Raised to Thank UNC Pi Kappa Phi Brothers for Defending Flag Against Pro-Hamas Mob

“Throw ’em a rager.”

Over $350,000 has been raised for the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill Pi Kappa Phi fraternity as a thank-you for protecting the American flag from the pro-Hamas mob.

“Throw ’em a rager,” wrote the organizer, John Noonan.

The mob took down the flag on Tuesday and replaced it with the Palestinian flag.

UNC Chancellor Lee Roberts took it down and re-raised the American flag.

The Pi Kappa Phi brothers formed a circle around the pole to protect the flag.

The school had been flying the flag at half-mast to honor the four Charlotte officers killed in the line of duty on Monday.

Guillermo Estrada explained why he led the community to protect the flag. I love his story.

Yeah, some people will try to make money off it. But what I’m seeing is what I expected to see a LONG time ago… red-blooded American boys saying “ENOUGH!”. Let the a$$ beatings commence, and may they continue until morale improves.

Burning the flag is legal, ass-beating is not. Get straight which one is American.

Paul in reply to rhhardin. | May 2, 2024 at 11:43 am

What’s “legal” and what warrants an ass-beating are sometimes two very different things.

rhhardin in reply to Paul. | May 2, 2024 at 11:50 am

The thing about American is you agree on the rules, namely the Constitution. If you agree, you’re American. If you don’t, you can’t be American. It’s why Muslims can’t be American, they don’t agree on those rules.

If you think ass-beating ought to be in the rules, I don’t see where.

Burning your own flag is legal. Taking someone else’s flag and burning it is not.

        _______________________________________________________________________

” legal ” can be rather subjective in the moment–defending what you believe in, in your way of life from those who are bent on your destruction, those who have openly declared they obey no ” rules ” of ours require action against them–not words

        good on those young men

I’m worried that thanks to the need for clickbait that the right will wind up as stupid as the left. Then in effect we’re ruled by the new left instead of the structure that guarantees freedom.

On burning the flag, the Supreme Court always comes down 9-0, as I recall.

BierceAmbrose in reply to texansamurai. | May 2, 2024 at 4:37 pm

“On burning the flag, the Supreme Court always comes down 9-0, as I recall.”

They haven’t ruled on intimidation within political speech, though they have had some things to day about burning crosses in church lawns, as I recall.

I don’t recall a decision from The Supremes on taking someone else’s flag by force, to burn it or otherwise. Nor one on whether and how much impassioned political speech is allowed to encroach, consume, and destroy other people’s property, presence, speech, and safety.

As I recall, Larry Flint (in)famously wore — and perhaps crapped in — his own American Flag diaper during the free speech case about cartoons in his own magazine. Stealing someone else’s flag to make his diaper is rather a different question than the court ruled on Even crapping on someone else’s flag otherwise in place isn’t quite simple “free speech.”

It seems vandalism, theft and physical abuse aren’t contested enough issues to get to the top court. Though I think the message of “political” vandalism and so on is much more the threat than the claimed political issue. “What are you willing to arson n smash against?” “Whadda ya got?”

I suppose the assault — threat of violence — isn’t enough either. “We can take your stuff to destroy it to make a point.” is clearly part of the message here. Not strictly political, More personal. And certainly threat-y.

Now do a high-school kid wearing the wrong hat while a pseudo-Indian professional activist performance arts in his face. Way inside conventional “personal space.” What’s the message there, political or otherwise?

        true

but when lefty uses violence to get what they want then the message to alll of society is clear

        only violence will stop violence

only a good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun etc

CommoChief in reply to rhhardin. | May 2, 2024 at 1:41 pm

Sure choosing to burn the flag you own is under most conditions a lawful form of free expression. Taking the flag (property) of another individual or entity is theft of property. Burning that stolen flag is doubly illegal. Doing so on a public area by a mob which illegally occupied the public space without a permit is another crime.

Attempting to attach the label ‘free speech’ onto otherwise criminal activity as a ‘reverse uno’ or ‘get out of jail free’ card is not gonna fly.

rhhardin in reply to CommoChief. | May 2, 2024 at 2:34 pm

Are you crime-angry or flag-angry? The flag seemed to be the clickbait object.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | May 3, 2024 at 11:38 am

I am anti crime. You seemed to imply that free expression via flag burning somehow provided a presumptive 1A shield. It doesn’t work that way. If you didn’t understand that previously now you do. If you did understand that previously but still decided to offer up a falsehood you could reflect upon whether intentional dishonesty will assist you in advancing your positions to convince others.

        ttucker99 in reply to rhhardin. | May 2, 2024 at 7:01 pm

Burning the flag is legal when you bring the flag. Pulling a flag down off a pole owned by the university and burning it is absolutely not legal even if you are a student at said university.

        That’s easy, dingus… ass-beating is American.
You’ve crossed over into parody status at this point.

Ironclaw in reply to rhhardin. | May 2, 2024 at 11:30 pm

That’s real easy, dumbass. You burn all the flags you want and I’ll beat your ass for every single one of them. Then once I’ve made you my bitch, then youThen once I’ve made you my bitch, then you will no longer be an American either.

And for the flag at half mast for the officers, when will someone in government finally be held responsible?

Charlotte Shooter Had Been Charged 49 Times

Posted Apr 30, 2024 8:52 PM CDT

The man who killed four law enforcement officers
and wounded four others in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday has
been identified as Terry Clark Hughes Jr., a 39-year-old man with a long
criminal history in the state. The Charlotte Observer
reports that according to court records, Hughes had faced 49 criminal
charges since 2001. His convictions include breaking and entering,
reckless driving, eluding arrest, and illegally possessing a gun as a
former felon. He spent time in prison in 2011 and 2013. Police say he
opened fire on a US Marshals task force that was trying to serve a
warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators said Tuesday that they are still working to determine the
timeline of events and they are no longer sure there was a second
shooter, the AP
reports. They said an adult woman and a 17-year-old female who were in
the home are cooperating and have not been charged. Earlier reports said
the 17-year-old was a male

because the murderer was a blk male the “urgency” of the story moves well below the next white kid who sings the exact lyrics to a rap song and the outrage and “fear” that will engender

This getleman seems like a fine potential political operative in the “break other people’s stuff to make the point that we can” category.

    Was he on campus?

One thing that Biden got wrong, but everybody does, is “law and order” seems like a pleonasm. Law is not the same as order.

rhhardin in reply to RITaxpayer. | May 2, 2024 at 3:18 pm

      I found it for you.

“Considering the cult of the Kill from Veblen’s angle of vision, we ca also get a glimpse of its earlier relation to social hierarchy. Hunting was thus not merely the insignia of privilege; it did reverence to the principle of order. (For though we tend to think of “law and order” as a pleonasm, like “house and home” or “day and time,” the second word refers not merely to regulation, but to hierarchy. A genuine “new order” is a new social ladder.)

Kenneth Burke, A Rhetoric of Motives, p.264

I read the book in the late 70s. When I read something, it stays read.

destroycommunism in reply to rhhardin. | May 2, 2024 at 5:13 pm

        in a free society

“order” can and will be changed by a capitalist move>>>merit

in alllll other societies …force etc must be used

I,,as many others do,,prefer capitalism as opposed to violence
yes,,,including the founding of this country,,which was the initial attempt made but ignored by the Throne of England

slavery ,,from its inception in africa and then brought to the new world (“order”)

was anything but capitalism..it was force and of course wrong b/c it was used against people who were not being violent towards the europeans,, as far as we know

Hunting was not just a sign of privilege ( but I dont disagree with your context) but a need to survive sooooo

the “law and order” statement/post you first made is true

but it doesnt mean that the “order”aka the hierarchy changing is bad

iffff the changing is in keeping capitalism /freedom at the forefront FOR ALL

Will you please take everyone’s heartfelt advice and choke on the biggest bag of dicks in the history of dick-bagging, you fucking pedantic, pretentious jackhole?

Love to see these young adults respecting the US and raising money to have fun , college is supposed to fun and about being social too, feels like the current crop of kids have no idea how to socialize and have a good time.

Morning Sunshine in reply to schmuul. | May 2, 2024 at 12:58 pm

who has taught them to socialize? Their parents who are on screens all day and feel/felt that the best way to raise quiet children was to give them screens? Daycare/school employees who also want quiet, compliant children in their care? Peers who mostly communicate with them over screens? Bosses – oh, wait… none of these kids have had a job.

schmuul in reply to Morning Sunshine. | May 2, 2024 at 1:08 pm

Yup! Good points! When I’m doing social skills groups with children; I have to keep telling them to look at each other and face one another when they speak. I can recall just even 5 years ago, I didn’t have to tell non-Autistic 7 year olds to do that.

Kudos to these gentlemen. We should be upholding this sort of action as examples of real men.

destroycommunism | May 2, 2024 at 1:30 pm

the best defense against the lefty is a crushing offense

proof of that once again

I watched a YouTube video of this event. All the students were smiling and singing “The Star Spangled Banner,” except for a young black woman in the foreground who was just weirdly contorting her lips in all directions. I wonder what was up with her.

$350K? That is quite a rager. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Trump make an appearance at the party.

I’m kind of surprised GoFundMe hasn’t pulled the page down, usually they hate patriotic Acts

    diver64 in reply to Ironclaw. | May 3, 2024 at 4:45 am

GoFundMe sent someone down to NC to handle the donations for the group. Donations were finally halted at midnight with over $517,000 raised. The Frat has said that they are going to throw the epic party and donate the rest to charity.

I would hope the young men would consider the FAMILIES of those OFFICERS who were killed or wounded and make sure THEY are the charity that benefits! Sure they deserve recognition for their stance, but there are four FAMILIES who have lost their FATHERS/HUSBANDS. and other FAMILIES with wounded and as yet, no idea of the certainty of their future well being. Keep a few HUNDRED for a couple of kegs and do the RIGHT thing with the rest!

destroycommunism | May 3, 2024 at 12:26 pm

lets see if the university doesnt find OR CREATE a law that says their frat is in violation by having collected money
