Remember those brave West Virginia girls who refused to compete against a boy in a track and field meet?
They couldn’t compete in the next competition.
Four of the five students filed a lawsuit:
The parents of four out of the five Lincoln Middle School students have filed a lawsuit, according to a press release from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s office. The suit argues that the students’ protest “lasted approximately 10 seconds each and did not disrupt the track meet in any way” and “did not affect any other competitors.”
“The only thing this decision does is teach these children to keep their mouths shut and not disagree with what they saw as unfairness,” Morrisey said in the release. “That is outrageous and it tramples these students’ rights to freedom of speech and expression.”
The lawsuit alleges the defendant, Harrison County Board of Education, violated the girls’ First Amendment rights.
The minor student athletes’ protests were silent. They each stepped into the shot put circle, raised the shot put to their chins, and then stepped out of the shot put circle and handed the shot put to the official.
The minor student athletes’ individual protests lasted approximately 10 seconds each and did not disrupt the track meet in any way.
The minor student athletes’ protest did not affect any other competitors.
Following their protest, the minor student athletes did not receive any notice that further action would be taken against them for protesting and forfeiting.
During practice the following week, however, the five student athletes who participated in the protest were instructed to run “Indian sprints” by coach Dawn Riestenberg.
The girls attended a press conference on April 24 with Riley Gaines, Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, and others. (Video at the end of the post.)
The following day, on April 25, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Plaintiff Mitchell Scott Guthrie spoke with Lincoln Middle School principal Lori Scott, who informed Mr. Guthrie that the student athletes who engaged in the protest, including his daughter, would not be permitted to compete in a scheduled track and field meet on April 27, 2024.
Plaintiff Clifford Powell spoke with the track coach, who told him the students couldn’t compete “because it was her job ‘to score points for the track team,’ directly correlating the minor student athletes’ protest and subsequent appearance at a press conference to the decision to ban them from competition.”
Morrisey filed an amicus brief in support of the lawsuit.
The Fourth Circuit struck down the West Virginia Save Women’s Sports Act, which banned males from competing in female sports.
The decision allowed Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 13-year-old male student, to compete in the track and field meet with the females on April 18.
Five females refused to compete against him in the shot put.
Jackson won the shot put by three feet.

Months ago on another thread about the trans agenda in school, I commented that there are no ‘red’ school districts no matter what the broader political landscape may bei in the state where the school district is located. The reliably reddest states have – at best – very purple public schools and often have public schools that are indistinguishable from any district in California or New York. Leftists absolutely dominate public education at every level and in every state.

There is no local control, and this is a false idea. If the schools take ANY money from the feds or the State, we have already lost “local” control. If our teachers are licensed and certified by the state, there is no local control.
Any government-run school is a cancer on a free society.

Thomas Jefferson was completely wrong. He advocated for government-run schools because he was afraid subsequent generations would forget the virtues of the nation’s founding as a Republic rather than a Democracy.
How did that work out for him – and us?
Jefferson was good in some ways, and horrible in others. Like all human beings.

The girls cannot be compelled to compete against Mr. Pepper-Jackson. They also do not have an automatic right be on the team.
Recall that an integral, necessary part of peaceful protest is to accept the punishment that follows, so that the point of the protest is thereby given authenticity. If you can protest all day without punishment, either your cause is trivial or you’re a Columbia University student.

The school should not punish the girls, without going through procedural due process.
But the reality of Peaceful protest is it is contingent upon active and sometimes violent pushback after people see the unfairness highlighted by the protest.
Ghandi was peaceful. But millions of Hindus rose up and rioted following his arrest.
(1) The school will not relent — at least not in any time frame to help these specific students. (2) The question is whether the punishment fits the deed. In this case, I would argue that the punishment is excessive.
The coach is a trans-activist.
There is something to be said for that. Continue to train hard, don’t disparage the coach, or others, and recruit your team members. If they all protest in a similar fashion, they will get the attention this matter deserves, moreso by being upstanding adults in how they handled themselves.

If it was filed in federal court, then they would be screwed by the CA4 precedent.
Its also good that the WV attorney general filed an amicus brief in support of the girls
As has been stated before, it won’t end until girls and women refuse to compete with the males. It’s that simple and that complicated, but is has to be done.
The girls should resign from the existing team and the school should create an “XX Chromosomes Only” competition.
This madness has to stop somewhere.
Establish a private league where only those with XX chromosomes can compete in the girls competition.
It’ll be ugly but it’s also going to take some ‘reductio ad absurdum.’
Sympathetic men – say 50 – who play soccer, should decide they’re wormen and try out for the womens national soccer team and displace every single woman on the team. There used to be name for it when Russia and other Eastern Block countries sent “female” athletes of questionable gender to compete in the women’s side of Olympic sports.

It should be obvious when so many average male athletes who declare a female gender to compete in the female version of a sport they instantly become superb high end athletes that growing up with male physiology is an unfair advantage. It’s like weight class in some sports, it certainly wouldn’t be “sporting” to let a heavyweight qualified boxer compete as a welterweight.
On top of issues of basic fairness, some sports are dangerous when there’s to great a advantage to physiology by a biological male competing with biological females.
I think each biological girl on any team with a guy should get about $ 10,000,000 per event until “sports” does away with this ridiculous charade.

Mark, I presume you are not a golfer. The Red tees for Ladies are fast disappearing, red having been designated a sexist color by those of the liberal persuasion. That tee box is now known as the “Forward Tee” and has markers of various colors and numbers but never red anymore. It is used by women, of course, but by Senior Men as well, at least those that have no sense of pride left and are over 85 years old. Because the Forward Tee is now being used by these Senior men the Senior women, of course, are demanding an even more forward tee box for them to use. And it will not end there.
Red tee markers, forward tees, whatever… The bottom line is that the average female golfer is closer to an average male bowler in how far and how fast the ball moves. Certainly, there are women who can crush a golf ball but, as is the case with soccer, a decent junior high school boy would have no problem at all defeating an adult woman.

A million years ago- I actually got my entire school to walk out in protest. It was over the dress code which didn’t allow us to wear knee high shorts on scorching hot days.
Most returned to class upon threat of expulsion, but we had non-idiots for a principal and vp. I was informed later both were proud of what I did. I did not need them to be- what I needed was for the policy to be changed.
The dress code was changed by the end of the week.
School is worse and worse. My sons finished HS in the early 2000s and we were forced to tutor them to teach them properly. I feel for these girls as I worry for my oldest son’s kids as one is in middle school and one is in elementary.
The Dems and the push to dumb down America is now a push to change gender. This gender change is so Big Pharma and Big Med can make Big Money as they destroy more of the Nuclear Family. It is nothing good and should be stopped by law.
