Iran has launched a massive suicide drone, cruise missile, and ballistic missile attack on Israel, both from Iranian territory and proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
This is a fast developing story, As in all such situations, initial reports can be wrong – sometimes unintentionally, sometimes intentionally.

Whew! For a second there I thought they might surrender.
From the best I can find [and that gives a lot of leeway] as of this month the flagship of the 6th Fleet is NOT a CVN, but is rather the Amphibious Command Ship [LCS] MOUNT WHITNEY. In a quick search it may be that we do not have a carrier battle group in the Med right now. The EISENHOWER [CVN-69] is in the 5th Fleet area with escorts near the Saudi peninsula I believe. Sorry I cannot find more right now.
I note that given the current National Command Authority, if I were Israel I would not trust or depend on the US response given his statements over the last week or so.

I’m waiting for the Iranians to shut down the Persian Gulf — not directly all at once, but by going after single ships, one at a time, until the global insurers forbid shipping lines to go there.

Iran started this by their proxy attacks from Lebanon and Syria and act like the victim after Israel takes out their military leaders in a building “next” to an embassy. I repeat not an attack on the embassy.
Maybe they take out Iran’s oil shipping facility which is based on an island or a large chunk of their electrical grid. Either one would inflict a major economic blow and maybe a lot of internal pressure on the Mullahs.

Attacking a U.S. carrier would be a galactically stupid move on Iran’s part.
They can attack Israel all they want without fear of an American response; Biden will ignore it and find other places to be and things to talk about.
If Iran attacked a U.S. carrier, though, the carrier CO will respond on his own authority until ordered to stand down (which would be a 3 am phone call Biden won’t answer), and there’s a 50/50 chance they’ll be ordered to keep up the counter-attacks to remove Iran’s ability to launch further attacks.

A clean gun is a happy gun. It’s always important to introduce questionable people to a happy gun. Over at Ace of Spades one commenter stated that in rural areas there can be a few sociopaths… not more than say 7 rounds in a 1911 mag.
A word about gun-cleaning. My cleaning regimen is different. I clean my guns before going to the range. If they function properly at the range, I leave them alone, and then clean them before the next trip to the range. I consider range time “function test” time. Once tested, I don’t mess with them. I know they’re running, and will continue to do so for hundreds of rounds. (I may run a patch or three down a bore, but I don’t futz with the gun otherwise.)
Caveat: My ARs are gas piston guns, so they don’t shit where they eat. They run super-clean, even after hundreds of rounds. The bolt/bolt carrier assembly just requires a wipe-down with a rag and re-lubing, and that’s about it. No special tool necessary to pick off baked-on carbon fouling, because there’s no carbon fouling anywhere to be found.

I will only clean the bore of a rifle every 300 or so rounds. I will however clean and lubricate the action after every range trip, and periodically check for any gummy or hardened lube if it sits for an extended period of time. Handguns, I clean them after every range trip, and occasionally for preventative maintenance.
