Former DEI Chief at Providence College Files Discrimination Charge Against School

“Kole, who is nonbinary, said they had filed complaints with Providence College’s Human Resources department, claiming violations of Title IX’s rules around gender discrimination and retaliation”

Providence College is a Catholic school. Where did they think the hiring of a DEI official was going to lead?

The Boston Globe reports:

Former DEI director at Providence College files discrimination charge

The former head of Providence College’s diversity, equity, and inclusion program filed a charge of discrimination with the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights against the institution on Monday, claiming they experienced a pattern of discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity.

E. Corry Kole, the former director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Education and Professional Development at Providence College, resigned on March 8, sparking criticism from students and staff who accused the college of systemically oppressing LGBTQ+ individuals on campus.

“During Kole’s three-and-a-half year employment with the College holding the first position in its history to address LGBTQ+ inclusion, they experienced direct, repeated, patterned and systemic discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity,” said Joseph Daigle, an attorney for Kole, in a statement to the Globe on Monday.

In the charge of discrimination filing, Kole, who is nonbinary, said they had filed complaints with Providence College’s Human Resources department, claiming violations of Title IX’s rules around gender discrimination and retaliation. The college, they alleged, “failed to act promptly by taking measures reasonable designed to protect” Kole from “further mistreatment.” Kole said they resigned “due to ongoing harassment and bullying.”

“Providence College has been given multiple chances to address my client’s complaints of discrimination,” Daigle told the Globe. Filing a discrimination charge “is the only remaining means available to E. Corry Kole to obtain justice,” he said.

While the commission has the authority to award monetary compensation for the harm employers have caused, Kole “seeks something more important — institutional change,” Daigle added.

Kole was hired at the private Catholic institution in 2020 as a resource coordinator in the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. They were promoted to director in 2022.

Now (while whining) try to imagine how Jewish kids feel on Columbia and other antisemitic campuses.

Why would a private Catholic college even have a DEI position at the school?

Biden took all the teeth out of Title IX. I don’t think this lawsuit will go anywhere.

Just one question: did E. Corry Kole ever do a damned shred of work other than sit behind a desk and issue memoranda, emails and sloganeer with diatribes against white men?

“…It’s what they do. It’s all they do. And they absolutely will not stop…”

Insanity is the order of the day. Legal filings with the incorrect and grammatically confusing ‘they/them’ pronouns? The mental illness has seeped into everything. Now we’re all being held at gunpoint.

I didn’t vote for pandering to crazy people but that’s all there is anymore.

“Kole, who is nonbinary, said they…”

Well, if they is nonbinary, then they is singular, and the correct pronoun is not they, but it.

“Kole, who is nonbinary, said it…”

Much better.
