Chicago Mayor Faces Criticism From All Sides Over $70 Million Package for Illegal Border Crossers

“When we don’t have money for after school programs. We don’t have money to help our kids get off the street. But yet, we would just blow money left and right. That’s a fundamental problem”

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson wants $70 million to spend on people who entered the country illegally and is being slammed for it, even by members of his own party. Johnson has already spent upwards of $150 million on illegals in the city and residents have been making their opposition known for months.

The new package goes up for a vote this week.

FOX News reports:

Dem Chicago alderman warns ‘we are not taking care of our own’ as city approves $70M for migrants

A Democratic alderman in Chicago warned city leaders that they are neglecting their own citizens by voting to pass Mayor Brandon Johnson’s request for an additional $70 million to help care for migrants who have arrived in the city.

The budget committee voted 20-8 on Monday to advance the proposal to the full City Council after a lengthy debate.

“We are not taking care of our own,” Ald. Chris Taliaferro of the 29th Ward said during the meeting. “We have all but forgotten the residents on the West Side and South Side.”

The city has already allocated $150 million to help with the growing migrant crisis, and other city officials also questioned Johnson’s request for the additional $70 million in funding.

“Here we are begging for more money when we don’t have money for the people here,” said 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale, a Democrat who opposed the proposal.

ABC 7 in Chicago has more:

“When we don’t have money for after school programs. We don’t have money to help our kids get off the street. But yet, we would just blow money left and right. That’s a fundamental problem,” said 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale.

“The great news actually is in our city, that we’re doing all of that work and voting to expand that work. At the same time that we’re voting to support those in need,” said 1st Ward Ald. Daniel LaSpata.

The mayor wants to take $70 million out of a surplus fund to care for the new arrivals. His budget director told members of the council budget committee they don’t anticipate asking for any additional migrants in 2024, but there were still concerns.

“We are not taking care of our own. We have all but forgotten the residents on the West Side and South Side,” said Ald. Chris Taliaferro.

There is much at stake, with the county and state already committing to fund their portion of migrant care.

“This kind of partnership is the right way to go for the taxpayers. It’s the right way to go for doing what’s right for the new arrivals in Chicago,” said Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.

This is simply not sustainable, and everyone knows it.

Why is he creating a special program to handle Quisling Jo’s illegal liens? They are just poor people who need help. He is doing this so he can get the Feds to pay for it.

The Feds should be paying for it — the Regime to pad the population numbers for the next census to gain more seats in the House and Electoral College, after all.

No, the feds SHOULD NOT be paying for it because then it steals from ME to pay for it and I don’t agree with turning all of those criminals loose in the country. We should not be rewarding the violation of our immigration laws.

The feds didn’t declare “sanctuary cities” which served as bait for their illegal aliens.

The blue cities were more than happy to do it for them, so pony up the cash.

These “visitors” are guests in our country. As such, it is important to treat them with respect and to provide them with all necessary goods and services. The $70 MM Is peanuts — there needs to be at least a billion dollars to provide each of our visitors with a single family house.

Great Maker, it’s fun to watch blacks realize they are no longer the favored minority and all the gibs me dat money and benefits are now going to the illegals that are flooding across our southern border and into Chicago. Fun times indeed.

How about schools focus on why recent reports show not a single student could pass math tests in 67 schools and 32 in English?

After school programs are surely important but unless those programs are for extra curricular help, it’s also wasted money.

Send all those illegals back south of the border. Those who crossed two countries are not eligible for asylee status.

“When we don’t have money for after school programs. We don’t have money to help our kids get off the street. But yet, we would just blow money left and right. That’s a fundamental problem,” said 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale.

Yet you continue to vote to subsidize Democrat policies that are breaking the bank and creating more problems.

“The great news actually is in our city, that we’re doing all of that work and voting to expand that work. At the same time that we’re voting to support those in need,” said 1st Ward Ald. Daniel LaSpata.

At some point, you silly dingus, you run out of other peoples’ money. But don’t worry though, I’m sure Chicagoans will continue to vote for you.

“Vote?” The guy’s a black Democrat Chicago Alderman. He IS the problem! The standard Democrat spend-spend-spend policy is suddenly too extreme for a committed spend-spend-spend Democrat. Alert the media!

This is all caused by too many people attending college and being granted worthless degrees. Only 15 percent of the population should attend college and households permitted only 8 hours a week of heavily controlled, improving TV content. Let’s repair the natural hierarchy.

Howard – somehow I don’t think your point (while valid in other contexts) is relevant here. Neither these illegals nor the Blacks who would normally receive this money through aid programs are likely to be attending college.

These people according to RJL above aren’t even bothering with hight school.

I’m guessing that you were too stupid on your ACT or SAT scores to be admitted to any college, including a state college or community college . I fell sorry for you. Well not really. I just feel pathetic for you.

Your own what? People? These are your new people. You’re being replaced, and you’re voting for it.

If your city has $70 million dollars in surplus funds…… then you are excessively taxing your residents and that money needs to go back into their pockets not a corruptible slush fund. And that’s assuming you are actually taking care of the things that need to be done under a city charter – streets, utilities, and emergency services.

Democrats made a national industry out of providing legal recognition to every nutbag in the country who demanded that his personal fantasy be enforceable as legal reality, despite its contradiction of actual reality.

A “new reality” constructed out of chaotic and basically inconsistent denials of true reality inevitably destines future Ragnarok moments, in which a Democrat ruler finds herself forced to adjudicate which of two economically rival “new realities” will prevail over the other.

This is where Brandon finds himself — torn by the demands of two intersectional imperatives, and in not just professional, but personal peril if he disappoints either one.

Good.

I hope to see a lot more Democrat mayors and governors in this dilemma.

There seems to be a misapprehension going on here. There is talk of the Chicago government not listening to the wishes of Chicago residents. Since when have the wishes or needs of Chicago residents been a factor in what the Chicago government does; let alone any sort of priority? Chicago is an Oblast of the American Peoples’ Republic, and its government will do as it bloody well pleases for what it sees as its own benefit and that of those it chooses to favor for whatever reason.

Not “Americans in waiting.
ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Chicagoans will vote 90% Democrat even if they are broke, homeless, sick, starving, unemployed, and naked.

It would take a heart of stone not to laugh at their collective idiocy.

And I don’t have a heart of stone.
