Biden Administration Trying to Implement Its Own ‘Pandemic Treaty’

I have been covering the recent attempts by the media and Big Government entities to gin up fear and angst over the bird flu and monkeypox.

In a previous post, I noted that the World Health Organization’s attempts to persuade countries to agree to the terms of a pandemic treaty have been floundering. Essentially, it is because no sane nation wants to hand over control of its population to activist bureaucrats who use pseudoscience to implement liberty-crushing, economy-destroying, nonsense policies.

Been there. Done that.

In fact, it appears the Republican party was gearing up to make this treaty an issue in the upcoming election.

“The COVID-19 pandemic showed us that the WHO is not the preeminent global health institution that perhaps it once was,” said Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, who chairs the House Oversight and Accountability Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. “Politics should never have a place in science.”…[A] growing coalition of Republicans on Capitol Hill, as well as supporters of former President Donald Trump, have been rallying against the treaty. During a news conference Monday on Capitol Hill, Reps. Christopher H. Smith, R-N.J., and Wenstrup argued the treaty is too political and relies too heavily on financial support from U.S. taxpayers.Tony Perkins, president of the conservative Family Research Council, called the draft “a global power grab” that forces progressive social policies on countries.

However, the allure of control to the power-mongering members of the Biden administration is like catnip to a cat. So, it’s coming up with its version of a “pandemic treaty“.

…Biden’s administration will help 50 countries identify and respond to infectious diseases, with the goal of preventing pandemics like the COVID-19 outbreak that suddenly halted normal life around the globe in 2020.U.S. government officials will offer support in the countries, most of them located in Africa and Asia, to develop better testing, surveillance, communication and preparedness for such outbreaks in those countries. The strategy will help “prevent, detect and effectively respond to biological threats wherever they emerge,” Biden said in a statement Tuesday.

The agreement is being referred to as the “Global Health Strategy.” As I projected, it is being created because the WHO failed to launch its treaty.

Interestingly, the administration is using the monkeypox outbreak in the Congo as the rationale for the “strategy.”

The announcement about the strategy comes as countries have struggled to meet a worldwide accord on responses to future pandemics. Four years after the coronavirus pandemic, the prospects of a pandemic treaty signed by all 194 of the World Health Organization’s members are flailing. The U.S. program will rely on several government agencies — including the U.S. State Department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health and Human Services and the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID — to help countries refine their infectious disease response.Congo is one country where work has already begun. The U.S. government is helping Congo with its response to an mpox virus outbreak, including with immunizations. Mpox, a virus that’s in the same family as the one that causes smallpox, creates painful skin lesions.Last year, the World Health Organization declared mpox a global emergency, with more than 91,000 cases spanning across 100 countries to date.

A review of the comments on social media indicates Americans are as unhappy with this strategy plan as they were with the WHO treaty.

The Global Health Security Strategy concerns many Americans because of the COVID experience. One activist, agenda-driven bureaucrat (Dr. Deborah Birx) silenced all debate on the COVID response, silenced reasonable and qualified critics, and undermined the president’s authority.

“I made it very clear to the Vice President, and I said, “You know I’m saying exactly the opposite of what the president is saying, and what Scott Atlas is saying. And the Vice President said, “You do what you need to do.I just want you to grasp this: The White House with the White House emblem on it is send this report to governors every week. And it says completely the opposite of what the President is saying. Despite the fact Scott Atlas would say, “The President’s policy is…I’m like, “Have the President tell me”.I went tp the communications leads and I said, “You can’t put Scott Atlas out”. I can’t stop him from talking to the President. But I can stop him being on national news. They said, “OK”.

If this plan is allowed to proceed, we will all be less secure and less healthy, which seems quite consistent with Biden’s “strategy”—such as it is. After all, we are experiencing epic inflation after implementing his “Inflation Reduction Act.”
