Turkey’s Erdogan likens Netanyahu to Hitler, Vows to ‘Firmly’ Back Terror Group Hamas

Turkey’s Erdogan likens Netanyahu to Hitler, Vows to ‘Firmly’ Back Terror Group Hamas

Erdogan: “Turkey is a country that speaks openly with Hamas leaders and firmly backs them.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sharpened his attacks on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, comparing him to Adolf Hitler and other dictators of history.

Erdogan, who once praised Hitler for his iron grip on Germany, likened the Netanyahu-led Israeli government to “Nazis” for the ongoing military operation against the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza, launched after the October 7—the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

The Turkish leader pledged his country’s ‘firm’ support for the Gaza-based Islamic terrorist group Hamas. “Turkey is a country that speaks openly with Hamas leaders and firmly backs them,” he declared.

This is not the first such bizarre outburst by Turkey’s president since Hamas carried off the October 7 massacre. In late December, Erdogan compared the Israeli prime minister to Hitler and called Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, a “terror state.”

The Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported Erdogan’s rant:

In his speech in Istanbul on Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan compared Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the world history’s worst dictators: Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini.

“Netanyahu and his administration, with their crimes against humanity in Gaza, are writing their names next to Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin, like today’s Nazis,” he said.

Erdogan also reiterated his support for Hamas, noting that no one could “make” Turkey “qualify Hamas as a terrorist organization,” citing criticism over Ankara’s refusal to designate the group as a terrorist movement.

“Turkey is a country that speaks openly with Hamas leaders and firmly backs them.” (…)

Since October 7, Erdogan has been consistently making anti-Israel statements. The last time he compared Netanyahu to the Nazi Germany leader Hitler was back in December, to which Israeli Prime Minister responded that Erdogan is the last person ‘to preach morality’ to Israel.

The Turkish president’s latest tirade is a glaring example of self-projection. It is Erdogan, who harbors megalomaniac fantasies of conquering the world, particularly the Christian West.

He openly dreams of taking over Europe through higher Muslim and Turkish birth rates. “I am calling out to my citizens, my brothers and sisters in Europe,” Erdogan urged at a 2017 rally. “Have not just three but five children.”

He sees the religion of Islam as a weapon against the demographically declining West. “The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers,” Erdogan told his followers in 1998.

WSJ: Hamas demands scuttle hostages-for-ceasefire deal

Hamas scuttled the hostages-for-ceasefire deal ahead of the Ramadan by raising unrealistic demands, an article published in The Wall Street Journal on Friday indicates. The terrorist group refused to provide information on the well-being of the hostages and called for a permanent end to the Israeli military operation.

“Arab mediators say Hamas refused Israel’s request for a list of living hostages. Israel has said Hamas has ignored its requests to provide a list of living hostages the group would be willing to exchange as part of a deal,” the WSJ noted.

Out of 134 Israeli hostages believed be in Hamas’s captivity, some 60 have ‘died,’ a senior Hamas operative told the newspaper. This number is higher than previously presumed.

The WSJ reported:

Hamas is sticking to demands for a permanent end to the Gaza war, a senior political official in the militant group said, showing that wide gaps with Israel remain as negotiators prepare to resume truce talks.

Unyielding positions by Israel and Hamas have caused negotiations to stall. Arab negotiators are meeting Sunday and planning to push for a much shorter cease-fire than discussed before—a two-day pause in fighting at the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which is set to begin either Monday or Tuesday.

The senior Hamas official, Husam Badran, warned that unrest would escalate in the West Bank and Jerusalem without a deal and said that his group was ready to keep negotiating. (…)

Israel has said its priority in the talks is to secure the release of dozens of hostages captured during the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attacks. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israeli negotiators are facing a “brick wall of delusional, unrealistic Hamas demands.”

The race to forge a deal that halts the fighting in the Gaza Strip comes at a critical time as Israel has said that it would begin an offensive in Rafah—where over a million Palestinians are sheltering and where Israel says Hamas leaders are hiding—during Ramadan. Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer and reflection for observant Muslims, can also be a time of heightened tensions in Jerusalem as tens of thousands of Palestinians, facing movement restrictions, seek access to holy sites that are under tight Israeli security control.

Arab mediators are trying to salvage a proposal that involved a 40-day cease-fire and the release of around 40 hostages.

Badran said discussions on a swap of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners had taken a back seat to questions of how to relieve the humanitarian situation and end the fighting. He said at least 60 hostages taken from Israel had died in captivity, a figure slightly higher than the estimated 50 dead provided by private Israeli assessments, which the Journal reported on last month.

Arab mediators say Hamas refused Israel’s request for a list of living hostages. Israel has said Hamas has ignored its requests to provide a list of living hostages the group would be willing to exchange as part of a deal. Badran denied that, saying there had been no official Israeli request for such a list. He said many of the prisoners are held by other factions, including Palestinian Islamic Jihad, making them harder to locate.

The talks, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and the U.S., ran for four days this week. They are expected to resume in Cairo on Sunday, Egyptian officials said. Badran said Hamas’s political leadership in Doha was meeting Saturday afternoon to discuss the negotiations.

Hamas is seeking to unleash a campaign of terror during Ramadan. The terrorist group is egging Palestinians on to riot at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

Hamas in a recent statement threatened Israel with more terrorist attacks if military-aged men were restricted from entering the Temple Mount during Ramadan. On Friday, Abu Obaida, spokesman for Hamas’s terrorist fighting force the al-Qassam Brigades, declared Ramadan a month of ‘jihad and victories.’

“May the approaching month of Ramadan be a month of obedience, jihad, and victories,” Abu Obaida declared Friday. “As Muslims worldwide prepare to welcome Ramadan, we have offered a sacrifice to Allah – a cascade of pure blood and pure souls. We welcome it with the peak of Islamic zeal, jihad, steadfastness, and combat during a time when men are honored [for jihad terror during the month],” he added.

There are signs that Qatar, Hamas’s longtime patron, is losing patience with the terrorist group. “According to Egyptian and Hamas officials, Qatar has threatened to expel Hamas officially from their base in Doha if they don’t come to an agreement,” the Jerusalem Post reported Friday. Besides Qatar, other Muslim countries like Iran, Turkey, and Syria are possible safe havens for the Palestinian terrorist group.

Israel hits Gaza terror targets, captures Hamas cell in northern Israel

The Israeli armed forces are conducting joint operations and precision strikes across Gaza, particularly in terrorist-infested southern strongholds. “IDF special forces are continuing to operate in the Hamad area in Khan Yunis, conducting close-quarters combat with terrorists, while receiving aerial cover from the IAF,” the Israel military said in statement Sunday morning. “IAF fighter jets also struck terrorist infrastructure in the areas of Jabalya and Beit Hanoun overnight.”

While the IDF takes on Hamas’ terrorist fighting force in Gaza, the security forces are battling Palestinian terrorists inside Israel. On Sunday, a joint Israeli police and intelligence operation busted a 13-member strong Hamas terrorist cell in northern Israel.

The Israeli news website Ynet reported:

Police and Shin Bet reported on Sunday uncovering a terrorist cell in northern Israel planning to carry out attacks on behalf of Hamas.

According to a joint statement, a total of 13 suspects, all Israeli Arabs mostly from Sakhnin, were apprehended and are expected to be hit with terrorism charges.

Some suspects were involved in a firebombing attack on Kibbutz Eshbal during the May 2021 Gaza war.

Four firearms, ammunition and bulletproof vests were seized as part of the operations. The weapons were reportedly purchased from operatives in the West Bank.

One suspect was in contact with Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip, who provided him with instructions for manufacturing explosives and instructed him to recruit additional members.

Yeah, gotta agree with you Griz. The folks wanting a new crusade can go for it for all I care but kindly leave the rest of us out of the cosplay. Go raise funds, pack your kit, board the plane and go get hot.

Wonder who is next on the list for termination? Mormons? Eastern Orthodox? Lutherans? Non Trinitarian? Maybe they can find some Cathars? How about Desist like Thomas Jefferson, gonna remove his statute and burn down UVA?

Settle down, Chief! Chances are you can find a nice rock to hide under until it is all over!

Religious wars have a history of spinning out of control. Those of us opposed to y’all conducting a domestic crusade won’t be hiding but will be opposing you.

I’d also like to see the game plan to eliminate a billion people. Islam isn’t the problem, it’s Islamist’s who twist a religion into a hate filled terror campaign against all others.

Yes, by all means, annihilate the entire religion of Islam. You are no different from the Nazis who wanted to annihilate all of the Jews.

JR in reply to JR. | March 10, 2024 at 6:05 pm

I read over 6 conservative blogs every day. Legal Insurrection is the only blog which regularly publishes comments which call for the annihilation of the entire religion of Islam. Why is this?

Where is this stated, JR? In which specific comment? We will remove any comments that call for direct violence. If we missed one, just send us a note with a link to said comment (if we disagree with your assessment, the comment will not be removed. Of course.).

Just as an aside, I suspect that our idea of what constitutes calls for “annihilation of the entire religion of Islam” and yours will vastly differ, so don’t get too happy trying to cancel our fellow Legal Insurrectionists.

Would LI post a comment that stated that “We really need to annihilate Jews”?

        diver64 in reply to JR. | March 11, 2024 at 4:47 am

I’d call the comment about eliminating a religion quite difference from calls to eliminate Jews who are humans. I doubt the poster was making that distinction, though.

          CommoChief in reply to diver64. | March 11, 2024 at 7:52 am

To eliminate a religion it would be necessary to eliminate those who believe in that religion not just tear down places of worship and destroy religious texts. A religion can’t exist with people who believe in its philosophy.

Curious about your definition of “regularly” you’ve provided one example from a data set that includes thousands of posts. And one of the benefits of freedom of speech is that it reveals that there are indeed a few lunatics at large, so we need to keep an eye out for them. So feel free to keep enlightening us!

This makes anything coming from Turkey as suspect. No chance of ensuring weapons aren’t being smuggled in to the port Biden is creating for Hamas.

Sounds like Biden and Erdogan might be on the same side of the Hamas issue.

Erdogan and Biden are in the same boat rowing together toward Hamas victory.

Will vile Biden have a “come to Allah” moment with Islamofascist, Erdogan? Or, is the only state leader he gleefully and unfairly vilifies, Netanyahu?

Hamas needs the time to get the arms Biden is sending them with the US troops (Fast & Furious)

Remind me why the West thought it was a good idea to let Turkey into NATO? That was really, really dumb.

Strategic location on the Black Sea

inspectorudy in reply to Othniel. | March 10, 2024 at 3:14 pm

I think because of their location and ambivalence towards Russia, they thought it would be smart to bring Turkey into NATO. They were wrong of course but until there is another war with Islam, we won’t see outright treason by them. If we were smart we would never sell them any high-tech weapons and NEVER depend on their support for any military operation that involves another Muslim country.

Milhouse in reply to Othniel. | March 10, 2024 at 4:11 pm

At the time the USSR was the main enemy, and Turkey was secular, anti-Islamist and friendly to the West. Bringing Turkey in was not only smart but vital; NATO depended on its being on side. Even pissing off Greece was worth it.

But the USA should have dropped all ties to Turkey in 2003, when it refused to allow us to attack Iraq from the north. At that time the USA should have had Turkey expelled from NATO, and openly supported and established an independent Kurdistan, without demanding any renunciation of its claims on Turkish territory.

BierceAmbrose in reply to Othniel. | March 10, 2024 at 11:22 pm

It’s useful to think of “Turkey” as going its own way, not much aligned with any other PoV.

An opportunistic arrangement to contain the Soviets extension into the Mid Ease made sense; with Turkey the barrier, and NATO the mechanism.

JackinSilverSpring | March 10, 2024 at 1:13 pm

It takes one terrorist to know another terrorist. And why hasn’t Turkey been suspended from NATO?

CommoChief in reply to JackinSilverSpring. | March 10, 2024 at 3:17 pm

Better question is why does NATO still exist more than three decades after the fall of the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact which NATO was created to oppose?

JackinSilverSpring in reply to CommoChief. | March 10, 2024 at 5:20 pm

Because the West does not trust Russia to behave, e.g. Ukraine.

CommoChief in reply to JackinSilverSpring. | March 10, 2024 at 6:48 pm

That’s a very neocon oriented interpretation of the record. How exactly does what happened in ’22 or even ’14 have to do with the dissolution of the Soviet Empire two decades prior?

No Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact should have been the death of NATO. Instead the neocons and their defense company masters pushed to expand NATO and deliberately PO Russia. This despite semi official assurances that NATO wouldn’t do it. Then the neocons got busy with color revolutions and turned Ukraine into their play pen setting up the Ukrainians to be sacrificed as a test bed for weaponry as they encouraged them to provoke Russia time after time from 2014 to present day.

Actions have consequences and even the paranoid have enemies; Russia is correct to be paranoid about their neighbors invading given their history and the neocons wanted this war. Don’t be mad when the folks getting pushed decide to push back. There are NO white hats in the Ukraine conflict, just two Eastern European tyrants vying for territory.

Erdogan is projecting. If anyone resembles Hitler, it is he.

For example, a quick search, shows this from 2017:

“It’s No Surprise That Turkey’s Erdogan Likes Adolf Hitler’s Government”

Late Friday afternoon, reports circulated that Erdogan expressed admiration for Hitler’s Nazi government. If it was a statement made by a democratic figure, it would be treated as a bad joke in poor taste. But for the authoritarian Erdogan, it’s a rare instance of his honesty, showing how the strongman really feels.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/its-no-surprise-that-turk_b_8903734

There’s more where that came from.

Why is turkey still reluctant to acknolwedge and apologize for the genocide of armernian christians?

beautifulruralPA | March 10, 2024 at 8:16 pm

While we are on the subject of Turkey and their support for Hamas… here is an article about Turkey (and quite a few Middle Eastern countries) setting up centers for “studies” on our universities, sending big bucks, and promoting their students attending…

and of course none of them are part of the current antisemitic protests that seem to be happening every day on campuses /s,

I will admit I don’t really read the CRT or Equal Protection parts of LI (just daily catch the headline stories) so I am curious if Mr Jacobson has spent much time exposing this part of the obvious take-over of our schools.

And I really am upset that they actually get so much taxpayer funded aid!!

Turkey under Attaturk was moving in the right direction towards an open, modern society. Under it’s latest ruler it has gone backwards into a country openly hostile to other religions and now supports a terrorist group that hopes to annihilate an entire country and it’s people all over the world. Turkey should be thrown out of NATO and relegated to the status of Iran.

    CommoChief in reply to diver64. | March 11, 2024 at 8:09 am

The sad part is had the EU not been so openly hostile to the application by Turkey to join then the prior ruling coalition would likely have retained power.

The drift of Turkey away from embrace of the West and towards a more open embrace of Islam by govt in what had been a far more secular Nation re its govt is IMO a direct result of that repeated error.

William Downey | March 11, 2024 at 12:39 pm

As long as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Muslim Brotherhood have Turkey, Qatar, and the Biden Administration, terrorist groups will continue to flourish.

Hamas translated from Hebrew and Arabic into English means “destruction”.

Hamas is evil and must be destroyed!
