Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Threatens to Oust Speaker Johnson Over Spending Bill

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a motion to oust Speaker of the House Mike Johnson over the spending bill the House passed.

Greene described the motion as “a warning than a pink slip.”

“There’s not a time limit on this, it doesn’t have to be forced… But I’m not saying that it won’t happen in two weeks, or it won’t happen,” Greene added.

The House usually has 72 hours to review a bill. But Johnson pushed through the bill because it needed to get passed.

It’s so gross. STOP SPENDING:

The bills being voted on Friday would approve funding for the Defense Department and several other federal agencies for the rest of fiscal 2024, wrapping up a drawn-out, contentious process that has brought the federal government to the brink of a shutdown several times since late last year. The fight exposed deep fault lines within the Republican Party and contributed to the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) last year. The long-awaited bill text was released early Thursday morning, and leaders from both parties said they scored wins on key issues during negotiations, even as the overall spending levels didn’t significantly budge from the totals set last spring during debt-ceiling talks. Democrats said they fended off cuts to education, labor and health programs, while Republicans said they successfully reduced spending on foreign aid and nonprofit groups that help migrants, and clawed back funding from the Internal Revenue Service. Some Republican members protested what they called irresponsible spending levels and complained they were given too little time to read the 1,012-page text of the bills.

I hope it fails in the Senate. This is beyond ridiculous. I like stripping money from the IRS, though. That’s always a plus.

HOWEVER! The IRS said the cuts “won’t shrink plans to boost audits of corporations and high-income households.”
