Gaza Pier Will Take Around 60 Days and 1,000 Troops to Complete

Gaza Pier Will Take Around 60 Days and 1,000 Troops to Complete

The Pentagon released more details about the Gaza pier President Joe Biden wants to build to send in humanitarian aid:

– Over 1,000 U.S. military personnel
– Weeks to plan & execute (~60 days)
– U.S. Army 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) from VA tasked
– “Maintains the ability to provide unique capabilities from offshore without a U.S. military presence within Gaza”
– U.S. Navy will not play a role because it doesn’t require “combat capability”
– Working with Military Sealift Command & logistics support vessels (LSV) involved; multiple ships “from across the world will come together”
– JLOTS (joint logistics over the shore) operation confirmed; employed last year in Ex Talisman Sabre in Australia
– Aid will be loaded from Cyprus ➙ floating pier ➙ LSVs (or barge) ➙ causeway ➙ ashore ➙ partners ➙ Gaza
– Working with like-minded countries & partners, who will provide security & assistance on the ground
– Sending out prepare to deploy orders (in process)
– Provide up to 2 million meals/day
– Under CENTCOM command

Officials have stressed that no soldier will enter Gaza:

None of the American forces will enter Gaza at any time, including to deliver aid or build the temporary pier, he said at the Pentagon. Ryder said the pier should be operational within about 60 days.

“We’re working to set this up as quickly as possible, but we expect that it will take several weeks to plan and execute,” he said. “Once operational the actual amount of aid delivered will depend on many variables and will likely scale over time. However, we expect that deliveries via JLOTS could provide more than 2 million meals to the citizens of Gaza per day.”

Not all the forces to be used in the operation had been selected as of Friday, Ryder said. However, the Army’s 7th Transportation Brigade based at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia had already been notified it would be deployed, he said. That unit is described by the Army as its JLOTS experts.

I don’t see the wisdom in this double-dealing by the Biden administration. Seems like a poor attempt to throw a bone at the rapidly radicalizing sect of pro-Palestine left-wingers.

This seems like an awful lot of money and effort just so that Traitor Joe can supply terrorists

Dementia Joe painting target on the backs of 1000 american troops, afghansitan debacle version 2.0?

    jb4 in reply to smooth. | March 8, 2024 at 8:00 pm

Exactly. Given – U.S. Navy will not play a role because it doesn’t require “combat capability” – Hamas may find firing a few rockets, killing some and ending Biden’s re-election bid extremely tempting. Politically, this seems very dumb.

      Paul in reply to jb4. | March 8, 2024 at 8:22 pm

….very dumb… well we are talking about a mental retard.

      Ironclaw in reply to jb4. | March 8, 2024 at 9:29 pm

Why would they want to end Biden’s campaign? He’s their number one fan

      BobM in reply to jb4. | March 8, 2024 at 10:28 pm

      Exactly.
The reason American troop corpses were desecrated and dragged thru the streets of Mogadishu (sp?) was because it was a “humanitarian” mission and heavy combat equipment like tanks etcalia “wouldn’t be required”.

Feeding hungry Muslim militants is no guarantee that those self same Muslim militants wont slit your throat, given a chance.
      Ask Israel.

Any US troops working, deployed and/or based within rocket or gun range of Gaza are targets. If you deploy troops, deploy “combat capable” coverage – or don’t deploy them.

Well, he’s merely saying that his prices are so low that he’s metaphorically cutting his own throat. But that’s because he’s not Klatchian.

healthguyfsu | March 8, 2024 at 7:13 pm

I’m sure this won’t be used to facilitate terrorist activity.

At least, when we get someone sensible in the WH and it is no longer used, people can fish off of it.

Juris Doctor | March 8, 2024 at 7:13 pm

Does dementia patient Joe know that IDF is going to bomb this into oblivion about 30 seconds after it is built?

The Laird of Hilltucky in reply to Juris Doctor. | March 8, 2024 at 7:35 pm

Aren’t there other actors who do not want to see the Gaza situation improve?

Milhouse in reply to Juris Doctor. | March 9, 2024 at 7:10 am

No, it won’t do that. That would be taken as an attack on the USA, and Israel can’t afford to do that.

Juris Doctor in reply to Milhouse. | March 9, 2024 at 8:43 am

Laughable nonsense. Bibi doesn’t give two shits how it would be taken by the US.

Edward in reply to Milhouse. | March 9, 2024 at 10:08 am

As long as the US troops are gone from Israel (Gaza is still part of Israel and the territorial limit is still applicable), the IDF is free to eliminate the pier without any legal claim of attacking the US. And Israel certainly can order the removal of the troops and pier from its sovereign territory.

Milhouse in reply to Edward. | March 11, 2024 at 1:01 am

The Gaza Strip is not part of Israel. Israel is currently the legal authority by reason of military occupation, but that’s all. It could certainly claim the right to destroy the pier if it saw it as a threat, but that would be an attack on the USA, and the USA would certainly take it that way. No Israeli government, of any political stripe, would dare do that, and certainly not the weak-kneed Netanyahu.

markm in reply to Milhouse. | March 12, 2024 at 3:04 pm

Wrong. In 1948, Egypt insisted that Gaza remain Israeli territory, and it’s been legally Israeli ever since. Egypt DOES NOT want to take any responsibility for it.

The Biden syndicate cannot be gone fast enough.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to Milhouse. | March 9, 2024 at 5:41 pm

I note that you limited that to “Israel cannot afford to do that” because it supposedly would be an attack on the USA. Islamist terrorists attack Americans fairly constantly. However, they have learned that they have nothing to fear from attacking the USA.

Welcome to Bizarro World!

Here, we work to feed and clothe the people who are trying to kill us, and we stab our allies in the back.

Why doesn’t biden put together a coalition of wealthy arab countries, and have egypt military deliver supplies via helicopters?

Then american troops won’t become targets by muzzies who believe america is the great satan.

Edward in reply to smooth. | March 9, 2024 at 10:10 am

Because the Egyptian government wants no part of helping Hamas? And that level of assistance is beyond the capability of those lower level government officials on the scene who are willing to help the terrorists?

smooth in reply to Edward. | March 9, 2024 at 10:39 am

It would require actual dipolomatic statesmanship that stumbling mumbling Dementia Joe doesn’t possess. Wealthy arab nations with oil money could fund gaza aid. Egypt could be reimbursed for costs of using their military helicopters for airlift. Egypt military is supplied by US, and therefore egypt is dependent on US for after-market parts suppliers to keep their military functioning. The US has leverage there, but Dementia Joe is joke on world stage, and other world leaders don’t listen to him. So instead he’s going to get americans blow up handing out care packages.

How much will this cost? Also, who will get the meals from the dock to the shore to ensure that Hamas does not get too many calories, and Palestinian people get enough?

G. de La Hoya | March 8, 2024 at 7:27 pm

Shouldn’t the EPA do a study first on the environmental impact? That should take 5 years at least. What a bunch of dumb*sses!

    G. de La Hoya in reply to G. de La Hoya. | March 8, 2024 at 7:39 pm

Build Back Better! What a stupid *ss slogan and real “catchy”. I wonder who the marketing genius behind that was? Dr. Jill maybe? Hunter?

I think it was the same marketing genius who advised Trump to “LOCK HER UP” about Hillary Clinton, which he never did, and “BUILD THE WALL!” which he never did.

JohnSmith100 in reply to G. de La Hoya. | March 9, 2024 at 2:04 pm

Remember that Jill has a soft PhD, more or less the same as Affirmative degrees, perhaps like JR.

IDF would be out of their minds to allow this to happen. It will extend. the war exponentially, when they need to rid themselves of these rabid neighbours they endured for far too many years. These half wits from Gaza need to find another place to go considering has vast Arabia is.

Truth be told, NOBODY wants them or their evil, repulsive culture. The atrocities they recently displayed in Israel will happen to whoever has the misfortune to have them for neighbors.

This move is absurd and will take our country back to those rotten Vietnam days and the decisions that turned out so disastrously, but in a much much worse manner.

I had already been entertaining the thought that the Democrats’ convention in Chicago this year might resemble the one in Chicago in 1968. They keep moving in that direction.

Milhouse in reply to Jmaquis. | March 9, 2024 at 7:18 am

IDF would be out of their minds to allow this to happen

Israel has to allow it to happen. So long as it insists that its war is only against Hamas and not against the civilian population, it can’t object to the USA feeding that population. Otherwise it’s admitting that its military objective is to starve the population into submission.

On the first day after the attacks, Israel announced that not a drop of water, not a watt of electricity, not a scrap of food would be allowed in to the Strip until the hostages were released. And it should have stuck with that. Unfortunately, it backed down almost immediately, and thus conceded that it is not at war with the population. Big mistake.

      jb4 in reply to Milhouse. | March 9, 2024 at 9:57 am

IMO Israel had no choice but to relent, because it knew that Hamas would not care if a million Gazans died; and Hamas would get the last scrap of food/water. The numbers “slaughtered” would become too unbalanced.

        Milhouse in reply to jb4. | March 11, 2024 at 1:06 am

Hamas wouldn’t care, but the people would. Get them hungry enough and they might take matters into their hands and return the hostages.

But regardless of that, what Israel had was a completely defensible and understandable position, and if it resulted in a million people starving to death, tough luck. That would clearly have been on Hamas, not on Israel.

jhkrischel in reply to Jmaquis. | March 10, 2024 at 2:22 pm

Here’s what’s gonna happen – Americans are going to be attacked, and killed. Either it will be Hamas directly, or an IDF false flag, or a Hamas false flag of an IDF false flag. Turtles all the way down, everyone will point fingers at everyone else, and American soldiers and sailors will die for no good reason.

At this point, best case scenario is Israel simply ethnically cleanses out Gaza and the West Bank, and only lets christian palestinians live there. The world will hate Israel the day after, just like they do today, so they might as well take the hit and force all the islamic palestinians to emigrate. Send them all to Germany if the Jordanians and Egyptians won’t take them.

Dementia Joe wanted to claim that he brought the troops home from afghanistan before 9/11 anniversary, and it back-fired and blew up in his face.

Now he’s trying to appease the fringe lefties in Dem party in election year, risking similar outcome. There is no reason to put 1000 american troops in harms way, except to create photo op. Supplies could be delivered other ways.

Rewarding Terrorism, nice plan Sundowner

60 days to complete building the peer = 60
Days for the IDF to gain control of the area around where the peer is built.

henrybowman in reply to mailman. | March 9, 2024 at 3:08 am

    It’s a government project. “60 days” = 600 actual days.

Edward in reply to henrybowman. | March 9, 2024 at 10:19 am

Actually Army Engineers do a very creditable job. In 1964 my Combat Engineer Bn. bridged the Rhine River with an Infantry assault bridge in 45 minutes and a Class 60 floating bridge (tank capable) in four hours. Obviously that wasn’t “under fire”, but neither is this effort.

Dementia Joe is full blown idiot. The arab street is driven by rumors that are going to swirl out of control overnight. US troops will be labeled invaders trying to establish beach head. US troops will be given no credit for anything that goes right, and will be blamed for anything that goes wrong.

This … doesn’t smell right to me. Granted, I’ve been out of harness for nearly 30 years now, and I don’t know the geography, but a half dozen amphibs carrying causeways and attached seebees could put down a two or three fingered pier in an afternoon. I mean, that’s the kinda thing they train for. Seems odd.

BierceAmbrose | March 8, 2024 at 10:43 pm

This would be a great idea if anyone involved was competent or well intentioned.

As things are, this is just laying down some stakes, and lives, on a talking point.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | March 9, 2024 at 1:36 am

When was it, exactly, that the US adopted Gazan terrorists? Maybe the left is trying to frame Gazan savages as “pre-illegal aliens”. After all, why should they be penalized for not being able to sneak across the Atlantic and break into America just like everyone else?

We have absolutely NO BUSINESS anywhere near Gaza. NONE. This is insane, and given how the Gazans have always loved to express their total hate of America, inching up on another act of treason by Traitor Joe and his junta of malevolent retards.

Although … I do have to say that Traitor Joe and his gang did pretty well with the bombing of Gaza with “humanitarian supplies”. That was innovative. Five dead is nothing to sneeze at.

And will be completely under Hamas control within 12 hours of the first aid shipment’s arrival.

Target practice for Hamas

‘Will not enter Gaza’ Hmmm does that mean the pier is to be constructed in international waters? If not then does the US Govt have an alternative view of ownership of littoral waters? Perhaps the US Govt simply means that all littoral waters in/around Israel/Gaza are owned by Israel? Has the US Govt gotten agreement from Hamas and other regional Nations re this interpretation of the littoral waters? How about buy in from regional Nations and non Nation State actors?

Sarcastically asked rhetorical questions but I don’t believe we gonna like the answers. This project is a goat f%#k.

US is building a seaport to supply savages. What could possibly go wrong?

Peabody in reply to Romey. | March 9, 2024 at 12:31 pm

In hindsight maybe we shoulda built an unloading dock on the Egyptian border. We coulda shipped illegals to build it and saved millions of dollars.

I’ve always been compliant if reluctant about paying my taxes…this story has caused me to play over and over in mind to figure out how to evade them. I can’t fathom personally being a part of this…

In the eyes of islamo-lunatics this will be viewed as type of american expansionism. Its going to draw fire.

What is so scary about this is that we know Dementia Joe is not running the show. He can’t even read correctly off a cue card. That means that whomever is running that administration is spreading that level of competence everywhere. Is this a LLoyd Austin product?

E Howard Hunt | March 9, 2024 at 10:10 am

Wow, nice to know. It took the army corp of engineers 3 years to issue me a small dock permit on the Connecticut River.

smalltownoklahoman | March 9, 2024 at 10:38 am

This is one project I wouldn’t mind seeing put through endless delays, having to jump through multiple hoops to get started, oh hey election’s over Joe lost and Trump says NO to this, and the project gets abandoned.

Biden wants photo op of kamala handing out children books to pali kids, because he needs the muzzie vote in michigan in election year.

mailman in reply to smooth. | March 9, 2024 at 11:32 am

Give them some of the books the Democrat child pedophile groomers wants in schools everywhere. See how Palestinians take to that 😂😂

Nice of Dementia Joe to streamline the process of Hamas Terrorists stealing all the humanitarian aid. It will up the efficiency in which the terrorists can steal everything in sight. Pedo Joe’s speech was a disgrace also. Never once mentioned the mass murder of Israelis. Keep fighting BiBi!

Cheeselogue | March 9, 2024 at 2:04 pm

……and how will the “Palestinians” pay for this “pier”?? Wait..wait…. THEY won’t be …right???

BierceAmbrose | March 9, 2024 at 7:49 pm

US is already denying Hamas claims that supply air drops killed civilians.

They’ll do the same with any port-born supplies, and the other “they” won’t see that coming. And so it goes.

An absolute waist of time, money, and manpower. How much of this is slush money going back into politicians pockets?

OnTheLeftCoast | March 9, 2024 at 11:21 pm

The headline should read

1000 US Troops Tasked to Serve as Human Shields to Protect Hamas

There are three ports in Gaza, each of which can handle far more cargo than this one. How long will the Palestinians let this one stand if they think they can pull a false flag operation by blowing it up and blaming Israel?

Maybe we’ll bomb out own Gaza Pier like Russia bombed its own pipeline.

BierceAmbrose | March 11, 2024 at 9:43 pm

How many harbors could Gaza have for one less weapons transport tunnel on the Egyptian border?
