Former Border Patrol Chief Under Biden Never Talked to Him or Harris About the Border Crisis

“I’ve never had one conversation with the president. Or the vice president, for that matter. And so I was the chief of the border patrol. I commanded 21,000 people. That’s a problem.”

Raul Ortiz served as the U.S. Border Patrol under President Joe Biden until he retired in 2023.

Ortiz told 60 Minutes:

Raul Ortiz: I’ve never had one conversation with the president. Or the vice president, for that matter. And so I was the chief of the border patrol. I commanded 21,000 people. That’s a problem.

Cecilia Vega: I just saw 50 people today who had just crossed the border illegally. So something’s not working.

Raul Ortiz: We need to make sure that Central America, South America, Mexico, that those regions understand that if you pay a smuggler and you cross in between the ports of entry and you do not have a legitimate claim to some sort of asylum benefit, you’re gonna be sent back.

Cecilia Vega: Do you believe that the White House has sent mixed messages to migrants?

Raul Ortiz: Yeah, most definitely.

Ortiz also wished Texas Gov. Greg Abbott would work with the border patrol more.

It seems like no one is working with the border patrol.

Comments

Biden hasn’t talked to anyone in full sentences without his note cards in two or three years. He is able, with some prompting, to read a few sentences off highly annotated note cards and utter a few partial, albeit incoherent replies, before turning and running off.

The only thing even remotely surprising about his comments is they were aired on CBS…during ’60 Minutes’ no less.

Surely CBS spun it post interview to make it look less severe for the admin. I mean, if I were a partisan, I’d bring on some “expert” in presidential history like Doris Kearns Goodman to say how Biden is the bestest and greatest ever president at delegating. He doesn’t need to meet. He delegates. Or some horse poo. CBS is heavily invested in the Biden admin. This can’t stand!

No. More. Refugees.

All Raul had to do was say Joe, I have ice cream and he would be down there in a heartbeat.

At least Ortiz was spared trying to decipher slurred emanations sloshing through the drool.

This is intriguing:

Ortiz also wished Texas Gov. Greg Abbott would work with the border patrol more.

It is difficult to understand what is being said here. Abbott and Texas are constantly being told to stay out of the border / immigration issue, so how should Abbot “work with” the Boarder Patrol when the Border Patrol essentially has orders to not work and or ignore Abbott and Texas?

Did Ortiz want Texas and Abbott to just roll over with their legs in the air? That is generally what “working with” any federal agency means.

It would be interesting to know what sort of “partnership” Ortiz wanted with Texas and Abbott.

“Ortiz also wished Texas Gov. Greg Abbott would work with the border patrol more. It seems like no one is working with the border patrol.”

The BP is suffering from “female athlete syndrome.”
Nobody wants to fight for people who won’t stand for themselves.
    Number one, it’s bad strategy.
Number two, such people tend to add drag to your campaign rather than help you.

You have to understand that to Biden and Harris there IS NO border crisis. Organizing the successful and ongoing invasion of the United States by millions of hostile foreign nationals and prioritizing them over Americans is the most successful program by the Left; not a crisis.

I don’t even know why we have anybody down there. We’d actually be better off not paying people to be a welcoming committee for a bunch of freaking criminals. Let them worry about food and water as they come across instead of having a welcoming committee greet them take him to a nice air conditioned building and hand them a sandwich and a bottle of water.

Then they would start robing, raping and murdering in the border state, as opposed to waiting until they get to NYC.

Glenn Reynolds: Police don’t actually protect law-abiding citizens from criminals so much as they protect criminals from the much-rougher justice they’d get in the absence of a legal system. Burglars would be hung from lampposts, and shoplifters would be beaten and tossed into the gutter if there were no police, as in fact happens in countries where there isn’t a reliable justice system and a civil-society culture that restrains vigilantism.

This is the BP’s function, folks. They are Biden’s Welcome Wagon. Without them, we and the states would be free to take care of our own business — something that Biden suppresses immediately and severely every time it’s tried.
