CDC Helping Chicago as Measles Cases Rise at Illegal Immigrant Shelter

One of the children with measles is a student at a Chicago Public School.

The Pilsen illegal immigrant shelter in Chicago, IL, has four measles cases, including two adults. The fire department took another child to the hospital.

The CDC has sent a team to the city to help the response teams.

The second child with measles attends a Chicago Public School. PLEASE. If you live there, please ensure you and your children have the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine.

But now, the health department is using many MMR vaccines on illegal immigrants. They’ve given out 900 vaccinations.

The cases are likely to grow because none of these people are vaccinated:

Officials said the second reported case at the migrant shelter on Halsted Street involves a child who attends a Chicago Public Schools school.

CDPH officials said the infected child is in the hospital in good condition, and CPS officials advised families at the shelter to keep their school-aged children out of school on Monday as a precaution as experts continue to stress vaccinations.

“It’s a call for again for people who have not been vaccinated to go out and get their vaccination,” said infectious disease expert Dr. Damilola Adeyemi. “We just need to confirm people’s vaccination status, vaccinate them, and anybody who is infected make sure that they are not around people who are not vaccinated.”

By the way, Cook County Health warned people of possible exposure at two of their facilities:

“On February 27, a patient with measles-like symptoms presented to the Stroger Hospital Emergency Department,” the announcement said. “The patient’s PCR test came back positive on March 5. The patient was admitted on February 27 under proper isolation and airborne precautions.”

“On March 7, a second patient, who visited CCH’s Arlington Heights Health Center and CCH’s Professional Building, later tested positive for measles,” the announcement continued.”

Officials at Cook County Health are asking any person who was at the Stroger Hospital Emergency Department, or CCH’s Arlington Heights Health Center during the above exposure timeline to contact the CDPH, at 312-743-7216.

The CDC will help Chicago officials “identify people who might be at risk for getting sick.”

The health department has also started notifying all the facilities’ patients, visitors, and staff.

Measles is a highly contagious virus. One person with measles can infect up to 18 other individuals.

Volunteer Annie Gomberg mentioned 100 at-risk children between the ages of 1 and 2 at the shelter. Children get two doses of the MMR vaccine between 12 and 15 months, and they get the third dose between four and six years old.

They’re still trying to use a PCR test for diagnosis? It was neither designed nor intended to be used in that manner.

Sheesh. It’s almost like they’re trying to induce fear porn at any and every opportunity.

This is why we VET people coming into the country OR did until this regime.

How about a simple vaccination, medical inspection and quarantine regimen for those entering the USA who can’t produce their immunization records?

Because the Left would say compulsory vaccination would violate their civil rights. And win in court.

Because that would take too long and delay shipping them everywhere where they will never be deported. American citizens are secondary to the left.

But, but….we simply must honor the legacy of Ellis Island and Emma Lazarus it would be un American not to do so…oh wait …Ellis Island had health inspections,.vaccination and quarantine.

We need to go back to Ellis Island standards. Medical testing, criminal histories, proof of means, or a sponsor taking financial responsibility for anyone entering.

Not on subject

But Ken Buck is an a$$hole and he’s definitely trying to turn congress over to the Democrats before Nov

This is McCarthys doing

      I know, it’s so disgusting

Gone the insanity times 1000 with democrats in the house

      They. Dont. Care..

I don’t know Colorado politics but they are ultra liberal and democratic governor so can he appoint or must they have an election?

      I’m so pissed

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | March 12, 2024 at 5:43 pm

No, the Gov can’t appoint a member to the HoR. The seat must be filled via election. Depending upon the State a special election may/may not be held depending on State law re the length of time before the normal election cycle and a vacancy.

Ken Buck, like many before and probably many after, talked a good game to get elected but didn’t deliver when it counted once in office.

Good! Another member of the Freedom Caucus resigns. May there be many more of them who decide to resign. Trump and his followers loved the guy.

No President Trump and his followers didn’t

What a small mind you have and so short sighted

Some may call you a moron but I think that’s too harsh

      Maybe retarded fits better

Wow. It’s like The Feckless R’s don’t like being in the majority.

CommoChief in reply to BierceAmbrose. | March 13, 2024 at 8:40 am

Buck is butthurt that he is being shunted off to the side b/c his policy preferences don’t match those of the ascendant populism. He’s taking his ball and going home, deliberately doing damage on the way out by reducing the GoP HoR majority in a fit of pique.

Gonna be more of this as we go forward and begin actually trying to implement the policies of a more populist GoP majority. The old guard who actively oppose it and the fakers who just talk, tweet, pose and posture in support but don’t provide votes to deliver on their campaign promises will work to sabotage the process of reform.

That’s what the Speaker is dealing with here in trying to get things done and now he has an even smaller majority. Every GoP member of the HoR isn’t from a rock solid +5 or greater red CD. There are still plenty of members representing voters in purple CD, swing CD and from blue States who are not and will never be as conservative/populist/MAGA/Tea Party as those members from rock solid red CD. Let’s keep that in mind as he herds the cats in DC and try to get some more populists elected in Nov to help advance the agenda.

Measles, functionally gone before the border was thrown open, is back as part of the Diversity that Leftists lust after. Chicago is now a Measles Sanctuary City.

Funny, I haven’t heard this reported on TV. TY Mary.

>>But now, the health department is using many MMR vaccines on illegal immigrants. They’ve given out 900 vaccinations.

Wow. I’m impressed. 900 vaccinations in a population of several thousands of illegals. Yeah, that will certainly make a huge difference in this measles outbreak. Unless they vaccinate everyone entering those homeless immigrant shelters that isn’t going to do a thing to stem the measles outbreak.

No! Third world diseases from third world illegal aliens who were dropped all over the US untested like little plague bombs. How could we ever have predicted this??

“CDC helping …..”. Egad!

There is an extraneous “as” in this headline.
