American College of Pediatricians Asserts ‘Gender-Affirming Therapy’ is Not Beneficial to Youth

ACPed is a breakoff group from the left-leaning and much larger American Academy of Pediatrics, which supports “gender affirming care.”

Last week, I reported that French Senators want to ban gender transition treatments for minors, after a report described sex reassignment for young people as potentially “one of the greatest ethical scandals in the history of medicine”.

Now it appears the tides are turning on sex change treatments for youth in this country as well.

A national organization of pediatricians and other health care professionals claims that “gender-affirming” therapies have not been shown to benefit adolescents with gender dysphoria.

The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds), based in Florida, released a position statement on Feb. 7 stating that “social transition, puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones have no demonstrable, long-term benefit on the psychosocial well-being of adolescents with gender dysphoria.”

“A review of at least 60 research papers demonstrates no benefit to social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones or surgical interventions for these youth,” lead author and vice president of ACPeds, Dr. Jane Anderson, wrote in an email to Fox News Digital.

ACPed is a breakoff group from the left-leaning and much larger American Academy of Pediatrics, which supports “gender affirming care.”

In another bold move, the ACPeds is bitterly clinging to actual science.

Contrary to claims someone can change their sex, ACPeds “affirms the medical fact that the sex of an individual is based upon biology and not upon thoughts or feelings.”

Dr. Jane Anderson, vice president of the group and lead author of the statement, provided further comments to The College Fix via a media statement. She taught pediatrics at the University of California San Francisco.

The Fix asked how policymakers, such as legislators, public health officials, and schools could use the report.

She said, “none of the so-called ‘gender affirming’ interventions, including social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgical procedures – either in isolation or in combination – improve the mental health and well-being of adolescents who identify as ‘transgender.’”

“There is no good evidence that those interventions prevent suicides in adolescents seeking them.” Anderson said. “They may actually increase that risk.”

The Washington Post, arguably one of the most woke of all “news” organizations, derides the group for being….conservative.

The records show that after long struggling to attract members, the American College of Pediatricians gained outsize political influence in recent years, primarily by using conservative media as a megaphone in its quest to position the group as a reputable source of information.

The organization has successfully lobbied since 2021 for laws in more than a half-dozen states that ban gender-affirming care for transgender youths, with its representatives testifying before state legislatures against the guidelines recommended by mainstream medical groups, according to its records. It gained further national prominence this year as one of the plaintiffs in the federal lawsuit to limit access to mifepristone, a key abortion drug.

So both common sense and real science show that that chromosomes determine sex and using hormones on children is harmful. However, as is clear from the Washington Post piece, you can’t use reason and logic to persuade cultists.

As Big Tech billionaire and the salvager of the social media platform X Elon Musk notes, everyone is now “far right”.

Putting science over politics is such an affront to all enlightened pediatricians! What’s next?? That children should have two arms and two legs!? That Easter is a christian holiday?

C’mon man!

I couldn’t believe that the AAP had actually come out in favor of castrating little boys and spaying little girls. Kids don’t know what they want, and change their minds weekly. Once a kid has been neutered, either by surgery or by drugs, there is slim to no chance that they can ever sire or bear children of their own. I suspect that there will be many lawsuits once the kids grow up and realize what has been done to them.

Wait until the kids are adults, and not so easily swayed by what seems popular, and they have developed a normal straight or gay identity. Then, if they are really set on a sex change, let them do it and pay for it. I’m glad that the ACP sees the reality that kids shouldn’t make such life-changing decisions.

My former brother-in-law went through a sex change in his late 30’s, after he’d had two children. His wife and children weren’t pleased about it, but at least it was an adult decision that he had considered for years.

Obviously people wanting this procedure need first to reach adulthood and then to see whether they’re beyond psychiatric help. It’s literally criminal to sexually or otherwise deform a child.

ACPed is a tiny group of a few hundred doctors, whose entire purpose of existence is to take positions like this, so the fact that it made this statement is not at all surprising, and is not news. The fact that in this instance it happens to be correct doesn’t make it news, because it would have said the same thing even if it weren’t correct.

I see a silver linging in this cloud. Big Democrat donors like Terry Bean out in Oregon can now have a wider choice of human playthings. Now that marriage and family life is becoming too expensive for most people to enjoy, and polygamy will probably be legalized before bestiality, boys who get “sex-changed” early and end up regretting it will be ale to find employment as eunuchs in the harems of wealthy and powerful men.
