Harvard President Claudine Gay Resigns, Plays Victim and Blames Racism

Harvard President Claudine Gay Resigns, Plays Victim and Blames Racism

“…frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.”

The Harvard Crimson reported that President Claudine Gay will resign on Tuesday afternoon:

Harvard President Claudine Gay will resign Tuesday afternoon, bringing an end to the shortest presidency in the University’s history, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

University Provost Alan M. Garber ’76 will serve as Harvard’s interim president during a search for Gay’s permanent successor, the Harvard Corporation — the University’s highest governing body — announced in an email on Tuesday.

Harvard spokesperson Jonathan L. Swain declined to comment on Gay’s decision to step down.

Gay’s resignation — just six months and two days into the presidency — comes amid growing allegations of plagiarism and lasting doubts over her ability to respond to antisemitism on campus after her disastrous congressional testimony Dec. 5.

Gay’s resignation letter contains no denials or admitting concerning plagiarism. She also did not mention antisemitism.

No, it’s just a sob letter crying about racism. She was pushed out because of her race:

  • “Amidst all of this, it has been distressing to have doubt cast on my commitments to confronting hate and to upholding scholarly rigor—two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am—and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.”
  • “When I became president, I considered myself particularly blessed by the opportunity to serve people from around the world who saw in my presidency a vision of Harvard that affirmed their sense of belonging—their sense that Harvard welcomes people of talent and promise, from every background imaginable, to learn from and grow with one another. To all of you, please know that those doors remain open, and Harvard will be stronger and better because they do.”

Oh, look. The Harvard Corporation also blames racism instead of Gay’s plagiarism and inability to condemn antisemitism:

  • “While President Gay has acknowledged missteps and has taken responsibility for them, it is also true that she has shown remarkable resilience in the face of deeply personal and sustained attacks. While some of this has played out in the public domain, much of it has taken the form of repugnant and in some cases racist vitriol directed at her through disgraceful emails and phone calls. We condemn such attacks in the strongest possible terms.”
  • “We also extend our thanks to all of you for your continuing commitment to Harvard’s vital educational and research mission – and to core values of excellence, inclusiveness, and free inquiry and expression. At a time when strife and division are so prevalent in our nation and our world, embracing and advancing that mission – in a spirit of common purpose — has never been more important.”

It’s not all Gay’s fault that Harvard is no longer a prestigious university. The school, along with the other Ivies, have gone down the drain as they have caved to the Diversity God and shut down those who refuse to toe the progressive line.

You just have to look at our Harvard tag to see its downfall has been in the process for a long time.

See? All you have to do is whack them upside the head with a 2×4 a dozen times and they eventually get the point…

All they need to add is don’t let the door hit your plagiarizing @$$ on the way out…

Once again, the participants in LI’s comment sections leave vulgar, cretinous comments on a fine article to which I would otherwise gladly refer fence-sitters and even liberals.

Paul in reply to moonmoth. | January 2, 2024 at 3:45 pm

You expect a blog frequented by attorneys to have a squeaky comment section free of vulgarity? Hilarious! Even funnier that you’re offended by “@$$” Better get to your fainting couch before proceeding any further.

And what’s with the discriminatory comment about people with thyroid issues? Some may find that triggering.

inspectorudy in reply to moonmoth. | January 2, 2024 at 3:52 pm

Usually, when fraud of any kind is found, the problem goes much deeper than the issue exposed. I would bet that if her Ph.D. application and thesis were studied, it would be found that they are filled with fraud. But due to the sense of “She’s had enough” feelings by the msm and liberals, she will retain her ill-gotten degree and maintain her status as an intellectual scholar.

    … and blame racism.

PODKen in reply to Rusty Bill. | January 2, 2024 at 6:21 pm

No … she didn’t get the point … she thinks she’s done nothing wrong and blames her predicament on racism rather than taking responsibility.

Ha! I was right on that poll.

healthguyfsu in reply to Othniel. | January 2, 2024 at 1:36 pm

And I, predicting what would happen rather than what I wanted to happen, was wrong.

I guess enough pressure leads to a sacrificial lamb to keep the altars of diversity propaganda fueled.

Othniel in reply to healthguyfsu. | January 2, 2024 at 1:58 pm

She had to go so that Harvard could continue on. The institution’s primary concern is self-perpetuation.

Concise in reply to healthguyfsu. | January 2, 2024 at 6:46 pm

I guess I’m the only one who didn’t care that Harvard chose a racist plagiarist clown for its president. But I for one encourage them to look for more racist plagiarist to hire. In fact the more racist and clownish the better. Plenty to choose from out there. Actually spoiled for choice. May I suggest a particularly big eared one who is not currently employed?

henrybowman in reply to Concise. | January 3, 2024 at 3:16 am

Why settle for a plagiarist when you could have an out-and-out data falsifier like award-winning Michael Bellesiles — for cheap?

    diver64 in reply to Othniel. | January 2, 2024 at 2:12 pm

I guess I was 50/50? I said she would never be fired, I didn’t think she would resign unless a big enough chunk of change was thrown at her. Guess Harvard dug deep.

Conservative Beaner | January 2, 2024 at 1:21 pm

Don’t let the door hit you on your ass on the way out.

In a just world she would end up in fast food, or collecting garbage, or maybe sorting recyclables off a conveyor.

Her payout for leaving Harvard probably will be greater than 90% of what Harvard graduates earn in a lifetime.

walls in reply to Oracle. | January 2, 2024 at 2:35 pm

Exactly. Her severance payout. Would love to see her severance agreement and the included terms. This was a forced resignation where everybody saved face. I’m guessing two-years full salary. And she only served six months.

        JohnSmith100 in reply to walls. | January 2, 2024 at 5:32 pm

In my experience, most AA hires are horrendously expensive, Gay more so than others.

Note the resignation *right* after the first of the year. I’d place good money that the date relates to her employment contract vesting some sort of benefit if she made it that far. And since she resigned her position but still is supposedly on the Harvard staff, she’s still getting paid to do nothing. Harvard is not done passing out cash to get her out the door.

smooth in reply to Oracle. | January 2, 2024 at 5:40 pm

Harvard will pay her to go away. Like a bad hooker.

Oversoul Of Dusk in reply to JohnSmith100. | January 2, 2024 at 6:27 pm

I don’t think she’d be competent at any of those things.

She’s costing Harvard big bucks donor money. That is the cardinal sin.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to rbj1. | January 2, 2024 at 2:32 pm

    It’s a business. So, it’s justified.

    inspectorudy in reply to rbj1. | January 2, 2024 at 3:55 pm

As I said when all of this took place, “Follow the money”. You are absolutely correct and that is why she is leaving. If this was a government job she would never leave because the money keeps flowing no matter what.

Will it really have any effect? Guess her replacement will be indication.

That’s a lot of plagiarism. I’m amazed she lasted as long as she did once she was exposed.

Claudine Gay Gives Tearful Resignation Speech Entitled ‘Gettysburg Address’
EDUCATION

CAMBRIDGE, MA — After facing weeks of pressure to resign following scandals involving campus antisemitism and plagiarism, Claudine Gay has announced she will step down as Harvard’s President. She delivered her remarks this morning in a tearful speech entitled “Gettysburg Address.”

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal,” began Gay to a crowd of tearful diversity studies students. “Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war.”

According to press reports, she will still be on Havard’s payroll.

Can you imagine being a faculty member assigned to serve on a committee with her?

Can you imagine being a student taking a course in which she lectures? Or has any role?

No sane person would feel safe to sip from a shot glass that she had been assigned to rinse

    And to think:

    She got tenure at Stanford
    And she graduated from Princeton
And she got admitted to Princeton
Can you wrap your head round that?
(I went to a very competitive high school —
lots of doctors and lawyers and computer
guys, not a single one of us got in to Princeton
    sheesh but she did)
And she apparently really impressed the
geniuses that run Exeter as well

inspectorudy in reply to ParkRidgeIL. | January 2, 2024 at 3:56 pm

    Forever!

She’s still vile.

The Laird of Hilltucky in reply to Rr1789. | January 2, 2024 at 3:21 pm

Yes, although it seems to me that she is less vile than those who allowed her to progress to such a statured position and who still support her. They are true villains.

Darn! I was looking forward to Ms. Gay being the face of Harvard for a long time.

Dolce Far Niente | January 2, 2024 at 2:04 pm

At what point do the pro-Hamas/genocide mobs start protesting on her behalf?

She will be a featured speaker amongst Farrakhaneers and Sharptonites.

And when non-Muslim girls get mutilated and raped in Newton, Mass, Dr. Gay will go on tv to contextualize why their breasts cut off during the raping

I have to say I’m surprised. Not that she had to bring race into it but that Harvard had the stones to fire that diversity affirmative action hire. I guess the new revelations of even more plagerism were a bridge too far.
How could Harvard discipline anyone for academic dishonesty when the President violated their own policy.

    inspectorudy in reply to diver64. | January 2, 2024 at 4:00 pm

See above about following the money. She was the Dylan Mulvaney of Harvard. They lost so much money from her scandal that they had to get rid of her. There is not one ounce of integrity or ethics involved in their decision to fire her, only money.

E Howard Hunt | January 2, 2024 at 2:11 pm

The resignation letter was long in coming because it was the first time Claudine attempted to write something without copying others’ work. In the end she gave up, and had it ghost written for her.

I sit wrong

Next up will be a trans Indian

    diver64 in reply to gonzotx. | January 2, 2024 at 2:22 pm

I nominate Dr Glenn Loury. I’d call for Dr Thomas Sowell but he is over 90 and most likely doesn’t need the headache although watching all those diversity midwits try to go toe to toe with him would be epic entertainment.

stella dallas in reply to diver64. | January 2, 2024 at 10:20 pm

Glenn Loury? Are you kidding? Ask him why he moved to the Kennedy School at Harvard from the economics department. Then ask why he abruptly moved to Boston University and then moved on to Brown. Maybe Glenn can advise Claudine how those transitions are arranged and what she can demand from Harvard.

Plaigiarism of excuse, citing racism. That, alone, justifies her canning. As if she would lasted otherwise.

Good. Buh-bye.

Probably someone in the back told her it would be better for her to fall on her award than for Harvard to grow some balls and fire her.

Personally I’d have preferred Harvard to grow some balls but I’ll take her resignation 😂

And to think, all she has to do was not be a crazy bitch at the congressional hearing and she couldn’t even manage that.

But let that sink in, that she thought it was completely acceptable to go to Congress and be a crazy bitch. Tells you all you need to know about the kind of person she is and the type of company she keeps and most likely never ever ventures outside of that intellectual bubble.

Ctrl C is now known as Ctrl Claudine.

Has anybody checked her resignation letter to see if she plagiarized that, too?

    diver64 in reply to Olinser. | January 2, 2024 at 2:33 pm

Sources say the crowd was moved to tears by the time the speech concluded. “I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this office in the way the interests of the nation would require,” she concluded. “Therefore, I shall resign from the presidency effective noon tomorrow.”

ChrisPeters in reply to Olinser. | January 2, 2024 at 4:09 pm

I was wondering the same thing!

Forced out by her own actions…. how terrible. AA got her to the door and plagiarism through it… but the paper trail was forever. It’s one thing to stand on the shoulders of giants and another to use a “borrowed ladder” (Gattica).

All her published articles were subject to editing by the publication’s editior in chief, which used to be a prestigious position. Apparently, not anymore,

“—and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus”

Yeah, so empathize your selfish crybaby feels with the people you refuse to protect: the Jewish Harvard community.

‘acknowledged missteps and has taken responsibility for them’. When? B/C she and Harvard are still pumping out BS about racism in a transparent attempt to obfuscate the very clear plagiarism and academic fraud as well as her condescending attitude when confronted about her official acts as Pres to condone NOT condemn antisemitism and blatant racism at Harvard.

‘Taking responsibility’ means accepting the negative consequences of your own actions that ate imposed by others, not a token announcement that mistakes were made followed by boilerplate BS. She didn’t do that nor did the Harvard Corp. They don’t want any accountability or consequences to flow from their actions b/c they don’t believe the peasants without a Harvard credential should have any opinion. They are more offended at the criticism of everyday ordinary Citizens than they are by the decades of institutional rot.

Someone said “Lawsuit, Oberlin, Discovery” and her fate was sealed. Still holding out for her suing and us getting the bounty of emails, texts, and memos to leaf through this summer.

E Howard Hunt | January 2, 2024 at 3:43 pm

Harvard should send a clear signal with her replacement. It should be someone who will quell anti-Jewish protest, dismantle affirmative action, demonstrate both genius and scholarship, and be either a minority or a woman.

Perfect Replacement- Amy Wax

So in addition to their affirmative action sins now the Harvard board is failing to stand up to racism against their president. It will be years before Harvard can restore it’s brand if ever. Glad the Harvard board never shared my foxhole.

People in the part of the world that aspires to Harvard will believe her racism lie. The brand is forever safe among those for whom branding is what matters.

Oh, to this degree of research done to obama!

Has anyone checked her resignation letter for phrases “borrowed” from others?

Per Harvard’s 2021 IRS form 990, she earned $879,079 as dean.

It is racism. They couldn’t hire a competent president owing to racial discrimination.

You shall know them by their acts.

It’s incredible what petulant children these harvard folks turn out to be

Incredible.

It reminds me of General Motors and IBM and Kodak , which were once envied all around the world.

Who exactly do these people think they are? Incredible

Well…….. they decided to be a Qatari-directed university, with Qatar values. Ok. It’s your prerogative

But unless you’re a Sunni Muslim why would you spend time or money to attend such a place . Seriously

I have to admit – this woman has stones. Her resignation letter talks of “upholding scholarly rigor – two bedrock values …”. Really? All that plagiarism is what she calls scholarly rigor?

If KJP ever loses her position as FJB Press Secretary, I have the ideal replacement.

Buh-bye.

The vile Gay will blame Jews — it’s the vile Dhimmi-crats’ go-to scapegoating tactic, these days.

Gay will no doubt land on a cushy perch somewhere in the Leftist realm, courtesy of her patron and fellow dunce, narcissist and hustler, the dim-witted Obama.

The Dhimmi-crats take care of their own.

core values of excellence, inclusiveness, and free inquiry and expression.

One of these is not like the others.

Playing the alleged and fallaciously self-styled “victim,” while disclaiming/disavowing any scintilla of personal responsibility for one’s manifestly indefensible and willfully made wrongful actions and choices, is the Dhimmi-crat Way.

Next unseal obama’s academic record at harvard.

Grades at Hah-vahd are all BS. You won’t be able to tell much from Barky’s transcript. What we need to see are his standardized test scores, to get any real idea. We need to see his SATs and his LSATs. I’m sure they are worse than pathetic.

Wayne Allen Root (who went to Columbia at the same time as Barky) challenged Barky to show his LSATs and compare them. Root got rejected by Hah-vahd Law. He offered Barky $10,000 on a bet that Root’s LSATs were a lot better than barky’s. Barky never responded to him.

But the one thing we do know about Barky’s grades at Hah-vahd Law is that they weren’t good enough for him to get on the Law Review … except that barky was there just after the sit-ins and whining at hah-vahd made them change the criteria for being Editors of the Law Review and the way they chose the President of the Review, so as to PUT minorities on the Review.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | January 2, 2024 at 6:34 pm

“When I became president, […] their sense that Harvard welcomes people of talent and promise, from every background imaginable,

“Talent and promise” … LOL. She really thinks quite a lot of herself, which is doubly amazing because she is such an obvious moron.

I really cannot get used to all these people, these days, who are obvious idiots but who like to pretend they are smart. This gay creature is a fool who isn’t qualified to teach 5th grade, let alone pretend she has some place at the university level.

Hah-vahd is a complete dump. It is unraveling its legacy as fast as it can, though inertia will still take it a long way. As soon as federal funding dries up (and it will, soon, as the federal government, itself, will not have the money to spend when the debt bomb finally explodes) Hah-vahd will drop like a lead balloon.

Excellent news, thanks to Legal insurrection and others for bringing forward the truth.

I think the board faced a soon completely indefensible position because not only are there clear and cut instances of plagiarism but there are growing calls for Claudine Gay to release the data behind select publications. From the data I’ve reviewed so far it appears the statistical issues in her papers are even greater sins than her plagiarism. I don’t think woke Harvard could let it go that far with her as the face and with Gay’s publications being so prominent in DEI.

But I hope the truth seekers go further. Claudine Gay didn’t just fail to be an effective leader by fighting ugly antisemitism on campus, but failed to uphold the same academic and moral standards she required of students. While most people didn’t predict she’d be out so quickly, everyone predicted correctly that when it did happen she’d cry “racism!” and ignore the terrible damage she allowed and caused.

This may actually have been the worst decision the Board could have made. It’s clear that they aren’t upset by her lack of moral and academic integrity, or they wouldn’t have kept her on staff. By keeping her on staff the organization remains wide open to scrutiny with Gay at the face of it, whereas dismissing Gay entirely would have brought reprieve from the criticism. The most important question to the board however: will it be enough to bring the donations back in? Because the Boards decision shows that they are not truly reformed of even regretful, donors should continue to withhold and find other, more deserving places for their investment. I predict that Len Blavatnik and other megadonors say “no” but this stops the tide of new losses.

The whole system needs to be examined. I fault Stanford for giving her tenure with just (4) papers! I fault Harvard for giving her the presidency with just (11) papers and no books. I fault Harvard for not doing due diligence, and just being concerned with the checking of boxes. Supposedly Harvard reviewed over (600) recommendations for president and this is what they came up with? This was their best?

    What a total farce.

RedWrangler in reply to walls. | January 2, 2024 at 9:05 pm

Completely agreed. To your point and to add further insult to Harvard, they only had a small number of papers to review and missed (or chose to ignore) these gross issues. And with her still employed at Harvard, none of these criticisms go away. Not that it should- it shouldn’t- but it’s also why I think it’s the worst strategic choice Harvard could have made.

DEI is toxic woke trash DUMPSTER FIRE.
