Pakistan Strikes Back at Iran, Killing Nine People

“Pakistan will continue to take all necessary steps to preserve the safety and security of its people which is sacrosanct, inviolable and sacred.”

Pakistan, a nuclear-armed country, claimed to strike militant hideouts, a group calling itself Sarmachars, in Iran.

The attack comes after Iran targeted Jaish al Adl, a Sunni militant group, in Pakistan.

Pakistan is mostly Sunni. Iran is mostly Shia.

Iran and Pakistan contend they target Baluch militant groups. They also accuse the other of providing a safe haven for the groups.

The operation called Marg Bar Sarmachar killed at least nine people. From Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

This morning Pakistan undertook a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes against terrorist hideouts in Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. A number of terrorists were killed during the Intelligence-based operation – codenamed *‘Marg Bar Sarmachar’*.

Over the last several years, in our engagements with Iran, Pakistan has consistently shared its serious concerns about the safe havens and sanctuaries enjoyed by Pakistani origin terrorists calling themselves *Sarmachars* on the ungoverned spaces inside Iran. Pakistan also shared multiple dossiers with concrete evidence of the presence and activities of these terrorists.

However, because of lack of action on our serious concerns, these so-called Sarmachars continued to spill the blood of innocent Pakistanis with impunity. This morning’s action was taken in light of credible intelligence of impending large scale terrorist activities by these so called Sarmachars.

This action is a manifestation of Pakistan’s unflinching resolve to protect and defend its national security against all threats. The successful execution of this highly complex operation is also a testimony to the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Pakistan will continue to take all necessary steps to preserve the safety and security of its people which is sacrosanct, inviolable and sacred.

The ministry insisted Pakistan “respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Iran.

“Iran is a brotherly country and the people of Pakistan have great respect and affection for the Iranian people,” continued the ministry. “We have always emphasized dialogue and cooperation in confronting common challenges including the menace of terrorism and will continue to endevaour [sic] to find joint solutions.”

However, Pakistan will also protect its territory:

The sole objective of today’s act was in pursuit of Pakistan’s own security and national interest which is paramount and cannot be compromised.

As a responsible member of the international community, Pakistan upholds the principles and purposes of the UN Charter including territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states. Guided by these principles, and in exercise of our legitimate rights within international law, Pakistan will never allow its sovereignty and territorial integrity to be challenged, under any pretext or circumstances.

Pakistan and Iran have never liked each other but have never taken such actions.

Iran’s attack on Pakistan killed two children and injured three. The regime has long complained about Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni militant group, in Pakistan’s province of Balochistan.

Iran has already bombarded so-called terrorist bases in Iraq and Syria, including what the regime claims are headquarters for Israel’s Mossad.

ok boys and girls here we go
I got hot buttery popcorn here

who wants some ….

Considering that in the recent past, Pakistan actively hid OBL and their secret police have no problems with causing problems for the US, this is a good thing (for a given value of good, I suppose) Iranian Shias are aggressive, and would have no problem using nukes against Israel *or* their supposed ‘allies’ in the Muslim world equally. If Pakistan leadership is recognizing the threat and taking action to block Iran…

“…have no problem using nukes against Israel *or* their supposed ‘allies’ in the Muslim world equally.”

    How about *and*?

What can we do to encourage this?

Also…
the Intelligence-based operation
So, some of their operations are not based on intelligence?

If you are confused by all the various groups and names, here is a helpful summary:

They’re all s–t.

Thank you.

Yeah, that potential for world war under the Trump Administration the Leftists and NeverTrumpers warned us about is coming four years later under the Biden Administration, isn’t it?

I was going to joke “It will be timed to start just after Trump takes office again, so they can blame him.” But the fact is they’ll blame Trump even if he’s not re-elected.

Should India release a statement of support and solidarity with Pakistan regarding this action?

Sounds like the Shia is hitting the fan. FJB and his puppeteers continue stumbling toward WWIII by enabling Iran and other bad actors. Is it due to naivety or is it willful? I’d have to say the latter when taken in context with all the other things they are doing to tear down western civilization.

Well, it’s about time someone struck the Evil Empire! I am now a big fan of Pakistan. I hope the Pakis do this every day for the next six months! Now it’s time for the Iranians to overthrow the tyrannical Theocracy!

The last time that the Iranian people tried to overthrow their government, the US (under the Obama administration) would not support them.

Do you think the Zhou BaiDeng regime would?

Refresh my memory, where did the Taliban come from?

Two terrible Islamic countries that support their own terror groups want to go to war? Should we not let them? lol

“Two terrible Islamic countries that support their own terror groups want to go to war” See Iran Iraq war of 1980 – 1988 for a prior show. Gas used then, nukes available for at least one side, maybe both now? Going to get the popcorn now.

Pakistan taking out Iran has merit.

Iran seems to be getting feisty in all directions lately. What’s happened to their realpolitik calculations?

What Truman stated soon after Hitler invaded the USSR, and what Kissinger stated about the Iran-Iraq war: “I hope they both lose.”
