‘Regularizing the Situation’: U.S.-Mexico Meetings Included Talks of Amnesty

“The delegations also discussed the benefits of regularizing the situation of Hispanic migrants who have been undocumented for several years and the DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] beneficiaries, who are a vital part of the US economy and society.”

Talks between Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, and Mexican President Andres Manuel López included amnesty as a way to relieve the immigration crisis.

The joint press release has all the correct buzzwords and phrases, such as “root causes,” “poverty, inequality and violence,” “diplomatic,” and “humanely.”

Then amnesty appears towards the bottom.

“The delegations also discussed the benefits of regularizing the situation of Hispanic migrants who have been undocumented for several years and the DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] beneficiaries, who are a vital part of the US economy and society,” according to the joint press release.

DACA came to be in 2012 under former President Barack Obama and then-VP Biden.

Biden wanted to “finalize a rule to codify” DACA, making it a federal regulation.

In September, U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen ruled, once again, that the DACA program is illegal:

Hanen, who has ruled repeatedly against earlier versions of DACA, was blunt in his conclusion that the Department of Homeland Security hadn’t really tweaked the program at all despite the extensive notice-and-comment process the government carried out.

“DHS did nothing to change or resolve the substantive problems found by this Court or the Fifth Circuit,” Hanen wrote in a 40-page opinion.

Hanen, an appointee of President George W. Bush, said bluntly that the Biden administration’s DACA rule illegally usurps Congress’ power just as the initial plan put forward in 2012 by President Barack Obama did.

“DHS views the immigration system instituted by Congress as faulty, so it is instituting its own solution, regardless of the dictates of Congress,” the judge wrote.

However, Hanen “refrained from terminating the program and maintained the status quo for current DACA recipients.”

Texas and other Republican state attorney generals have argued that DACA leaves “them with education, healthcare and law enforcement costs.”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is NOT happy.

“At a time when America is experiencing the worst border crisis in our nation’s history, it is unconscionable to hear the Biden Administration’s announcement that Secretaries Mayorkas and Blinken discussed with the President of Mexico amnesty for illegal immigrants,” wrote Johnson. “The United States must focus on policies that deter — not attract — people attempting to come here illegally, and the smugglers who profit from the catastrophe at our border.”

Johnson added: “This development further demonstrates the Administration has no real intention of solving the humanitarian disaster and immediate national security crisis their policies have created. President Biden needs to stop vacationing and take immediate steps to stop the flow of illegal immigration into our country. Our nation’s security and sovereignty depend upon it, and the American people demand it.”

Both parties have had plenty of opportunities to reform our immigration system. None have done it.

But that’s beside the point. Because of Biden’s promises on the campaign trail, millions have made the trek to America, thinking they can just walk across the border without any problems.

The statements from Mayorkas and Blinken will also make you puke since they lavish such praise on Mexico for doing so much.

Except…Mexico doesn’t do anything.

“We had a very productive meeting with President @lopezobrador_ and members of his Cabinet today in Mexico City,” boasted Mayorkas on X. “The regional challenge of migration requires regional solutions, and we appreciate Mexico’s commitment to continue its efforts alongside us and with others.”

Melugin gives Mayorkas a reality check.

“The U.S.-Mexico partnership is crucial to prosperity and security in our countries and throughout the Americas,” Blinken wrote on X. “Good to discuss these issues, and our shared efforts to reduce irregular migration, with @lopezobrador_ today in Mexico City.”

Citizen journalist Auden Cabello, who provides excellent coverage at the border, reminds everyone that Mexico has the upper hand in all of this:

This was an urgent and private meeting. There was no press conference or public statements issued.

Mexico has the upper hand this time around. AMLO knows US elections are around the corner and immigration is a top issue. US is desperate for Mexico’s help to stem the flow.

AMLO will capitalize by asking for more funding, and ask the US to invest in root causes (Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua) instead of walls. He is not willing to implement any migration controls.

Blinken is desperate for some control measures in Mexico to convince Republicans for more Ukraine funding. They also want immigration to be a non-issue during the elections.

Caravan leader Luis Villagran referred to this as “the foolish meeting with the foolish”. He accused them all of being “political prostitues” for trying to use women and children as bargaining chips.

No Amnesty, anyone who entered this country illegally goes home. If you want to reuinite families, they can get together in the country the rest of the family got sent back to.

Yeah. For every adult who crossed illegally absolutely correct. Whether that is voluntary or involuntary they gotta go. We can’t have a system that rewards adults who jump the line ahead of others for a lawful entry and going through all the hoops required over many years to do so.

It might be possible to find a very limited middle ground for those who took the trouble to sign up for DACA and meet the requirements for it. The d/prog won’t take the deal but offer them not a ‘yellow card’ which grants approval to work and reside in the US but no ability to sponsor anyone else or ever become a Citizen other than via military service. The d/prog will absolutely reject this sort offer b/c it is narrowly tailored and removes one of that favorite talking points. They would rather the DACA recipients never got a permanent legal status than accept the fact that they couldn’t become Citizens or that every illegal alien outside that program would be subject to deportation.

DACA is unconstitutional. Every illegal, including those here under DACA, must go.

CommoChief in reply to ChrisPeters. | December 29, 2023 at 5:27 pm

I agree for the most part. I could live with the DACA folks getting not a ‘green card’ but basically a permanent work visa for practical purposes IF very big IF the d/prog STFU and in return we get:
        1. A completed and functional border wall
        2. Deportations in large numbers
        3. Civil and Criminal penalties for employer and others who facilitate illegal aliens unlawful presence in the USA
        4. Immediate revoke the provisional entry by the Biden Administration pending asylum claim hearings, give them 30 days to GTFO of the US or be deported which bars future entry by the way

All that for granting a permanent work visa for DACA who will be barred from becoming Naturalized other than via military service? I can live with it. The d/prog can’t and won’t accept it. Which is why we should offer it, let them once again, reject a deal for DACA folks. They have already done so b/c they want the issue not an actual resolution.

Agreed. It is time to round up all the invaders and deport them. It is also time to round up all the politicians who have willfully allowed this to happen, and imprison them,

Border Crisis?

Well, it depends on which side of the border you are on. If you’re on one side of the border it’s a crisis, but if you’re on the other side it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Conservative Beaner | December 28, 2023 at 6:18 pm

That was the plan all along. Let them and register them to vote.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | December 28, 2023 at 6:23 pm

Traitor Joe and his junta and Mexico are on the same side – against America. They are all committing Acts of War against this nation by orchestrating this invasion. For the Americans among them that means TREASON, and for the foreigners they are enemies who should be treated very personally and mercilessly to the war they are waging on us.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | December 28, 2023 at 6:25 pm

Leftists can taste the end of America. They are giddy about it. All of their dreams and wishes for our destruction seem to be within reach, now.

Let’s see if this utter airball steels the House and especially Senate GOP in their negotiations with White House and Schumer. Also affecting the dynamic may be Biden’s push for Ukraine to settle with Russia.

We need emergency legislation: Enter the USA illegally and you’re permanently barred from voting
Vote anyway? 20 year mandatory minimum

What illegals are doing to America merits a far more robust response.

    MontanaMilitant in reply to rduke007. | December 29, 2023 at 8:37 am

You know with Trump on the ballot that many of them will try to register to vote to avoid deportation…and many lib states are giving out driver’s licenses to illegals despite the requirements of a birth certificate. We are at a tipping point. If we don’t verify EVERY vote as valid we will lose constitutional control of the country

Subotai Bahadur | December 28, 2023 at 9:17 pm

Assuming that history is taught anytime in the future, this will be noted as the period when the concept of American sovereignty became officially moot. Practically, it has been so for a couple of generations.

“President Biden needs to stop vacationing and take immediate steps to stop the flow of illegal immigration into our country.”

On the contrary. He needs to vacation permanently, and take his Vice-Ruminant along for the trip.

“DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] beneficiaries, who are a vital part of the US economy and society.”

Malarkey. We can easily do without them and would be better off.

Hopefully things will improve when Sheinbaum takes over in Mexico.

She’s as much of a communist as Bolivia’s Evo Morales was. As more Marxist governments take over South of the border the tighter we must restrict illegal immigration. Allow vetted immigration from these communist nations through application at consulates but close the border and use the UN’s own criteria of First Safe Harbor for asylum seekers. Thus if they are claiming political prosecution by their own government they must apply for asylum in the first country they come to that is not persecuting them.

The full impact of illegal immigration goes unreported, It’s costing each family in the USA a minimum of $40,000 a year. Our entire nation is being impoverished by these hordes of illegal immigrants. The politics are destructive, but the economics are devastating.
The total cost of the illegal immigrant tsunami invasion is ALWAYS misunderstood and vastly underestimated. The cost is ongoing and it has taken an immense toll on our economy. There are an estimated 40 millions of illegal immigrants and their children in this country today. Each one of them has a direct and indirect cost that total about $100,000 each per year including an estimated $35,000 per child for educational expenses and the huge cost of lower wages for native, legal American citizens. It is estimated that without these illegals the average wage would be 12% higher and that loss is an indirect, but measurable consequence of illegal immigration. Add it up. iThe cost is 4 TRILLION a year to the American economy. It is a cost that would not only wipe out the deficit but increase tax collections by an estimated $500B per year. Our entire infrastructure, physical and social, is deteriorating, collapsing because of this influx of basically useless, uninvited parasitic mouths that eat at our table.

This all a big bonus for the Dems. Paying for totalitarian control of the country on the backs of all Americans and especially crushing on the minorities which , even now, are forced to the back of the bus.

A few billion bucks now…as with the “fortified” elections… and they get to play with the trillion dollar monopoly game until it collapses. Some day when China owns the world they will hank what is left of the US monetary system off the table.

Their number one goal is and has been to break America and illegal immigration is one method of their attack.

Simple…. Their number one goal is and has been to break America and illegal immigration is one method of their attack.

Where was immigration czar Kamala Harris? Why was she left out of the talks?

Amnesty? OK, we won’t prosecute Mexican politicians for letting their country collapse.

Regularizing? No, that’s enabling the Mexican conquest of the US Southwest.

I believe in K.I.S.S. Keep I Simple Stupid.

Let’s just annex Mexico and add another star to our flag.
