Boston Mayor Michelle Wu Slammed for Christmas Party Invite for City’s ‘Electeds of Color’

Someone in the office of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu sent an email to staffers about a Christmas party that specified ‘electeds of color’ and seemingly excluded whites. This is what progressive concepts like DEI and social justice have brought us. Segregation.

If you’ve been following higher education news, you already knew this. Schools across the country now hold segregated graduation ceremonies for various groups.

The New York Post reports:

Boston mayor under fire for ‘no whites’ Christmas party for city’s ‘Electeds of Color’Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is not dreaming of a white Christmas — party, that is.An invite concerning the Boston mayor’s holiday party, specifically for “Electeds of Color,” was mistakenly sent by an aide to all members of the Boston City Council. Some 15 minutes later, that aide, Denise DosSantos, who serves as the mayor’s director of City Council relations, blasted up a follow-up email flagging the embarrassing error.“I wanted to apologize for my previous email regarding a Holiday Party for tomorrow,” DosSantos wrote. The white councilors were not supposed to receive an invite.“I did send that to everyone by accident, and I apologize if my email may have offended or came across as so,” the aide added. “Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.”Boston’s City Council is comprised of six minority and seven white members.

WCVB News has reaction from Wu herself:

Boston Mayor Wu addresses controversy around ‘electeds of color’ holiday party invitationBoston Mayor Michelle Wu said a mistake was made when an invitation to a holiday party meant for elected officials of color was sent to officials who do not fit that description and later rescinded. When asked about the controversy created by the invitation and its retraction, Wu explained she was selected to host an annual gathering for “electeds of color” from across the state.Wu is the first woman and first person of color elected to be elected mayor of Boston.”I’ve been a part of a group that gathers, representing elected officials of color across all different levels of government in Massachusetts,” she said. “A group that has been in place for more than a decade, and the opportunity to create a space for people to celebrate and rotate who hosts.”The mayor apologized and said the sending of the party invitation to officials who did not fit the description was “an honest mistake.”

Read that again and note what Wu is and is not apologizing for.
