Why Can’t They Just Leave The Jewish Hostage Posters Alone?

Why Can’t They Just Leave The Jewish Hostage Posters Alone?

Mentally healthy people just walk by a poster they don’t like. Psychopaths and sociopaths tear them down, and when you throw in DEI-infused dehumanization of Jews, you get the anti-Israel movement we now have.

There has been a wave of vandalism of posters placed in various locations of Israelis who were kidnapped by Hamas, other terrorist groups, and “civilians” on October 7.

While I haven’t done a rigorous statistical survey, anecdotally I and others have noticed that the poster-rippers and other violent anti-Israel protesters disproportionately are young women.

There are many more examples posted at StopAntiSemitism, Canary Mission, and elsewhere on Twitter.

They have smug grins and a glee on their faces just like the sadists who tortured and mutilated Israelis on October 7. The posters for them are a proxy for Jews in the flesh. If you wonder how “normal” people can turn into barbarians, you are witnessing it in real time.

The posters attract these deranged haters like flies. They just can’t help themselves.

Why not just walk on by? Why not put up your own posters? Why the need to destroy? They are taking out some life frustration and letting loose the demons within them on Jews who are victims.

I read a really good description of what is at least part of the problem, by Antonio García Martínez writing at The Tablet:

The poster-rippers are merely physically enacting what most of the Western left thinks, which is that Jews cannot play the role of victim, no matter what atrocities they’ve suffered. Their ethnic antagonists, the Palestinians, have that role reserved for them, so don’t bother us with your tales of woe, Israeli Jews, no matter how sinister….

Westerners view the Middle East with a new wokified Orientalism: It’s an exotic stage on which to project (if not enact) their own political dramas around identity and oppression. The problem is that the liberal mind cannot imagine what’s inside the illiberal mind….

A lot of people are waking up to the dehumanization of Jews through CRT/’anti-racism’/DEI. We’ve been screaming about it for years. We even started a website to document how deeply the racialized pathology has spread (CriticalRace.org).

But we’re just “right wing” so we never penetrated the broader and mostly liberal American Jewish community. Now that Bari Weiss is writing about it, though, its okay for liberal Jews to call out the DEI monster:

People were to be given authority in this new order not in recognition of their gifts, hard work, accomplishments, or contributions to society, but in inverse proportion to the disadvantages their group had suffered, as defined by radical ideologues. According to them, as Jamie Kirchick concisely put it in these pages: “Muslim > gay, Black > female, and everybody > the Jews.”What we must do is reverse this….

The answer is not for the Jewish community to plead its cause before the intersectional coalition, or beg for a higher ranking in the new ladder of victimhood. That is a losing strategy—not just for Jewish dignity, but for the values we hold as Jews and as Americans….

It is time to end DEI for good.

It’s no coincidence that so many of the poster-rippers are in college or work at colleges. That is where the DEI-indoctrination is the most intense.

This is not a working class phenomenon.

This is a DEI-addicted illness.

Of course, there are other factors. Some are motivated by traditional Islamist Jew-hatred, some by traditional leftist-Jew hatred, some are just deeply unhappy and disturbed people with deep emotional problems who have found someone else to make miserable.

Mentally healthy people just walk by a poster they don’t like. Psychopaths and sociopaths tear them down, and when you throw in DEI-infused dehumanization of Jews, you get the anti-Israel movement we now have.

I believe they tear down the hostage posters because they are a truthful reminder that their existence is a lie. What Hamas did on Oct 7 was not the actions of freedom fighters but wild, deranged beasts. The Nazis had more compassion than they did. They are trying to erase that image and get the world’s sympathy for their plight.

artichoke in reply to inspectorudy. | November 9, 2023 at 8:59 pm

Not so sure about Nazis having more compassion. I wasn’t there but I heard enough stories and read enough history, including the writings of the Nazi leader, and I don’t recall much compassion for the Jews he hated (as he said directly).

    JohnSmith100 in reply to inspectorudy. | November 9, 2023 at 10:12 pm

If I had my way their plight would be far worse. What are we going to do with so many truly deranged people? Their problems will not improve over time. We have a subset of Pale like crazy in America.

      BigRosieGreenbaum in reply to JohnSmith100. | November 10, 2023 at 12:31 pm

Nazis also tortured just for the hell of it. Might want to study up on that. I don’t know what information they expected to gain from Jews.

MattMusson in reply to inspectorudy. | November 10, 2023 at 7:02 am

Exactly right. HAMAS wants to portray itself as a victim. So, pictures of people they have victimized must be removed. For the Media, it is all about who is the biggest victim.

One way or another, they’re implacable enemies now. When they show you who they are, believe them, as Hillary Clinton said very well. And this is about the first time I’ve found myself thinking the same way as Hillary.

Wokeness, social justice, etc. are the currency of the Kingdom of Feelz. The population of the kingdom are predominantly females (esp. white females) plus beta and gamma males, all conformists, all followers, all the same personality types who join cults. The laws of the kingdom list conformity in first place (although they call it “solidarity”) and violations result in automatic social ostracism at best, to physical assault at the extreme.

Subotai Bahadur | November 9, 2023 at 9:08 pm

Those tearing down the posters are Leftists who hate Jews, hate the Judeo-Christian ethos that underlays Western civilization, hate that civilization, and hate the people who live as part of that civilization. TWANLOC.

Subotai Bahadur

I’ll go with Freud on this one. The posters remind them that their “edgy” freedom fighters’ actions might have their sexual fantasies sullied. Young women + bad bois = fantasy. ISIS “wives” and all. Estrogen storm …yes… maternal instincts…no way.

They see them as political posters whose message is “We here deserve special sympathy because of what’s happening over there.”

Their political position being that Jews here do not deserve special sympathy. What about Palestinians.

Neverthe;ess in America the tradition is leaving the other guy’s political posters up even if you post your own alongside.

Martin in reply to rhhardin. | November 9, 2023 at 10:46 pm

That used to be the tradition. But what I saw during the abortion ballot measure in Kansas was destruction and defacing of the Yes signs. Don’t try to interfere with a leftists desire to kill.

This derangement originates in the brain right next to the place where TDS originates. Similar, other than it was latent until Hamas became the new BLM.

It may be more accurate to say that the anti-Jewish derangement is the model upon which TDS is based. From left and Muslim directions, it’s never ending. The people that do not know how to say yes because it would deny their purpose.

Even here in Florida DIE is unfortunately still alive on our “institutions of higher learning”. To lance this destructive monster will take time and tenacity. But it must be done.

Dolce Far Niente | November 9, 2023 at 9:53 pm

Secular Jews overwhelmingly support leftist ideology which is the incubator of this hatred; my sympathy for them in this case is muted.

I would be very surprised if they change their core beliefs and voting habits, in spite of the reality which is currently slapping them in the face.

Correct. I have been saying the same thing but I would add “liberal” Secular Jews. Some will wake up but I believe still that an overwhelming amount will still vote for politicians, support political parties and help to fund organizations and institutions that want all Jews exterminated.

Now, we will probably get a thumbs down and be called anti Semite for stating the truth.

“Progressive” secular Jews, although some liberal Jews, in Congress and elsewhere, are waking up.

Mauiobserver in reply to natdj. | November 10, 2023 at 12:49 am

Not directly related but on a visit to Israel in May one of guides who is a liberal secular Jew answered our questions about current affairs in Israel.

We had visited several West Bank towns and villages including Jericho (although he had to get out before we passed through the PLA checkpoints).

At the Lebanon border standing next to trenches and seeing IDF tanks partially concealed we had a security discussion.

We were concerned about the survival of the nation as there were massive pro and anti government protests in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

He said if attacked the nation would unite immediately and do whatever is necessary to defeat the enemy or enemies.

He has a masters degree and would be considered a scholar. However he is also military and despite his claims otherwise I would judge him to be special forces based on demeanor and physical presence the few times we were around crowds of people that did not appear particularly friendly.

He lost a brother on Oct 7 and I suspect that a large segment of the population either experienced a loss or knows someone who did.

No doubt your guide like many Jews (liberal, conservative, religious or secular) in Israel have had their lives changed forever as a result of the terrorist attack on October 7th. Definitely losing a loved one like a brother will always be a hole for him and the family. I am very sympathetic and supportive of Israel and they’re defending their nation and culture/religion.

My conundrum is that while I support Israel and Jews in Israel, it is difficult to feel the same way towards liberal secular American Jews. An overwhelming amount of Jews in this country are liberal and secular and don’t make for a sympathetic group. My suspicion is that even though we witness attacks and murder of Jews across the world, will the overwhelming majority of American liberal Jews finally wake that the politicians, political party, organizations and institutions they support and donate want them exterminated? Until they becomes serious about that and change their ways I too remain distrustful of secular liberal American Jews.

SeiteiSouther in reply to natdj. | November 10, 2023 at 10:47 am

Said the same thing. They are now shocked when they find out that the people they support actually hate them. Yet, they will still vote for more of the same.

The sooner they wake up, the better.

ConradCA in reply to natdj. | November 17, 2023 at 1:19 pm

Those Jews aren’t really Jews they worship progressive fascism instead.

ConradCA in reply to natdj. | November 17, 2023 at 7:21 pm

The same thing that make these students etc hate Jews makes them hate our country and support the progressive fascist movement.

BigRosieGreenbaum in reply to Dolce Far Niente. | November 10, 2023 at 12:48 pm

Hatred is hatred. Far left ideology and or far right ideology is not the incubator, it’s an excuse to club the other side. Evil exists and it has many expressions. Hope you can sleep well with your “muted sympathy”. Maybe when your time comes, it’ll be met with a similar muting of any feelings.

IMO, attempting to pigeonhole these episodes as purely antisemitic is an error. No question antisemitism plays a part here, a prominent one. These episodes are completely in line with the overarching woke/lefty ideology/narrative of putting every into one of two boxes as oppressors or oppressed. If you are not a PoC, a female, LGBTQ or a first generation immigrant you are excluded from consideration as ‘oppressed’ which automatically defines you as an oppressor.

That’s the real modern line of demarcation for the woke, lefty progressives; oppressor or oppressed. They can’t allow any deviation from the narrative or dissent among their coalition b/c their coalition will collapse under any scrutiny of the narrative. If sacrifice of previously loyal liberal Jewish allies of the coalition is required to maintain the narrative make no mistake that’s what will happen. Not so much out of pure antisemitism but b/c Jews ain’t considered members of the ‘oppressed’ by the woke, leftists and are therefore oppressors.

In the ideology of the woke, leftists Israel is a mostly ‘white’ population. It occupies land ‘stolen’ from ‘indigenous peoples’. Worse it has the audacity to effectively defend itself and to move aggressively against its enemies; the ‘indigenous Palestinians’. The use of terrorist/asymmetrical attacks by the Palestinians is justified in the eyes of the leftists b/c they are waging a ‘resistance’.

Whitewall in reply to CommoChief. | November 10, 2023 at 7:43 am

Well stated. Remember what Hillary declared when it was finally clear she had lost the election to DJT? She said she would join the ‘resistance’. Not just against him but against the millions of lowly rustics that defeated her. .

How long will it be, I wonder, before they make the mental leap to conclude that the use of terrorist/asymmetrical attacks against the ‘oppressors’ here in the US are justified and warranted?

I expect Billy Ayers is already running bomb making seminars.

Get their identities and post the pictures of them in the act with their names and as much information as possible.

Identify them as antisemites and Hamas supporters which they are despite any arguments otherwise.

If they have jobs notify their employers what kind of person they have working for them.

If their family operates a business notify the family to see if they condemn the action. If so great end of story. If not put out information on the business so that customers can make a decision if they want to patronize a business that is supporters antisemites and Hamas.

Make them pay a financial price for the hateful behavior. People can believe whatever they wish but these ACTIONs deserve consequences.

Not interested in some imagined penalties for them. I favor much more direct action. Whatever that may become. These spoiled children have paid no price all their lives for their behavior. Needs to start now.

I admit it. When the true new yorker confronted the smug guy tearing down signs, I was rooting for him to break the guys nose.

Yet Jordan let them interrupt the young Jewish students telling their stories of harassment and violence on campus

He’s a coward and not a good man, he just pretends to be

What a fail

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | November 10, 2023 at 10:49 am

Please correct me if I am wrong but it what I saw was Jordan having each person who created a disturbance to disrupt the hearing ejected as they did so. What should we do in such a circumstance? Clear the room by ejecting all members of the public?

I can understand their motivation, because I do the same when I see anti-Israel or anti-capitalist flyers on the street. I regard them as litter, and by removing them I am doing my civic duty of cleaning the street. Even if there is no garbage bin anywhere nearby, and I end up dropping them on the floor, I consider the street to be cleaner than when these flyers were up where people could read them. So I can understand that given their Looking-Glass-World premises they would feel the same way but in the opposite direction. I tear down pro-Hamas flyers; they tear down anti-Hamas ones. The principle is the same, the difference is only that my cause is good and theirs is evil.

Of course all this applies only when the flyers have been put up illegally, either on public property or without the owner’s consent.

LukeHandCool in reply to Milhouse. | November 9, 2023 at 11:18 pm

It’s good to be both understanding of others’ motivations, yet also clear on what is right and what is wrong.

I hope the flyers Milhouse tore down were put up illegally. I’d hate for Milhouse to be wrong.

DaveGinOly in reply to Milhouse. | November 10, 2023 at 8:26 pm

I’m with you Milhouse. Political activism causes people to put flyers up. Political activism can also lead people to take posters down. Both acts are constitutionally-protected exercises of First Amendment rights. OTOH, as you point out, putting posters up on public property and on other people’s private property is generally illegal. But taking down such posters is not. (Note I do not advocate that anyone has a right to take down any sign or poster that’s on private property with the property owner’s consent. Such signage is the property owner’s property, while posters and signage put up on public property, or on private property without the owner’s consent, is effectively, abandoned property.)

Do I disagree with the diagnoses of what motivates this people to take down these particular posts? Absolutely not. They’re sick. Terrorist sympathizers. Jew-haters. Would-be terrorists themselves. But do they have a right to take the posters down? Absolutely. It is these objectionable acts the Bill or Rights was meant to protect, because it is the unacceptable act that needs the protection, not the acceptable act. (I’ll note, for instance, that some people find AR-15s unacceptable, making that class of firearm among the sorts the 2nd Amendment was meant to protect.)

And these folks would cheerfully call you a NAZI and in the same breath call for the killing of jews, as they tear down the pro-Israeli poster.

And be so un-aware as to not see the problem with that, Double-think double-plus good apparently.

        B__2 in reply to venril. | November 13, 2023 at 9:43 pm

I can sympathise with the Kidnapped posters, but we must make a decision whether that postering is worth breaking the law by putting up the posters. We should not be hypocritical if we demand posters we like are allowed to be put up but others’ posters are banned for doing the same thing? There are probably more people willing to post Free Palestine posters than there are Kidnapped posters, and they are likely to post into the future.

I would prefer to be civic-minded and removing those illegally posted Free Palestine signs than saying everyone is allowed to post on council property without limit.

You have no legal right to remove any flyer from public property, no matter how it was installed. Only the facility manager for the property, or their duly authorized agent, has the right to remove such flyer.

My husband said the young women need to be shamed. I asked, where have you been for the last 20 years? They are incapable of feeling shame and they’ve been told they are morally superior to everyone else on the planet. What they need is a response that includes pain and suffering on their part and being denied victimhood.

They might feel shame if we bought back stocks in the public square. And all the rotten fruit and veg that’s fit to hurl at them.

MarkS in reply to MrE. | November 10, 2023 at 7:12 am

That would only validate their “oppressed” status

CommoChief in reply to MarkS. | November 10, 2023 at 7:46 am

There’s a difference though in fake ‘my feelings are hurt by what you said or did therefore I am oppressed’ and actual oppression.

These are the same sorts of women who deride the nonexistent ‘patriarchy’ but demand that ‘real men’ would overlook their 3 dozen+ past sexual partners, 2 kids by different baby daddies and be willing to court this ‘princess’ by providing the traditional male chivalry experience to them and then marry them.

Put up your own posters. Go on–your side has provided you with tons of video and pictures of what they’ve done. Display it proudly.

Why tear down your victims’ flyers when you can post your own graphic flyers of victory? Show what you’ve done proudly.

I promise you that people who are pro-Israel won’t tear your posters down. You may tear ours down, but we won’t tear yours down.

We want to show what you’ve done, and we want you to show what you’ve done.

YES! I really don’t understand why Israel supporters aren’t having their own media blitzes, demonstrations, rallies at the Capitol and City Halls across the country if you don’t agree with someone elses free speech, counter act it with your own

DaveGinOly in reply to LukeHandCool. | November 10, 2023 at 8:31 pm

Ha-ha! You couldn’t put up posters condemning Hamas’ acts. These sorts would just take them down. Instead, make posters celebrating Hamas’ atrocities! What would happen? Would these same people take them down, for shame of Hamas’ acts? Or would they leave them up, for fear of seeming to be anti-Hamas? It could make some heads explode. Meanwhile, normies would become even more disgusted with Hamas. Seems like a win-win.

Fashionable young woman wearing smug grins. And not confined to poster ripping, they are literally engaged in street fighting, and of course, egging on the men (overt manipulation.) That egging-on is quite.. proletarian.

I see that same look in videos from Canada and the US to the UK and beyond. One thing is strikingly apparent; they are all well fed, clothed, manicured and coiffed and certainly not victims of white colonial oppression.

They may or may not be college girls in the UK. Some are obviously first generation middle easterners and Africans. So, religion and age-old rivalry are present. Some of then may have arrived in the West when toddlers and pre-teens.

The K-12 are teaching victimhood hatred and not wholly confined to universities.

“In May, I wrote a piece summarising the thought of Bertrand de Jouvenel on the nature of power in modern political systems, and the importance of the high-low alliance for the administrative state.

The problem for rulers, always and everywhere, is the emergence of prosperous semi-autonomous social groups in the middle or the upper-middle tiers of society, who have their own political vision and resist administrative interference. To undermine this opposition, elites forge alliances of convenience with political clients at the bottom. Under the banner of egalitarianism and equality, they promise to grant these clients the wealth and privilege that are unjustly monopolised by their betters.

As the administrative state grows in extent and rapaciousness, its hunger for low-side allies deepens, which is why Western politics today is so eager to define new categories of underprivileged peoples and to import new foreign ones. However much social and cultural chaos this project unleashes, it is supposed to be stabilising for the regime, because that’s what it’s for.

As we’ve reached a point where this strategy is actively de-stabilising establishment politics, we may safely conclude that something has gone wrong.”

Why the migrant crisis is a self-inflicted catastrophe for the European political establishment

      Thanks. Read and bookmarked.

The Swede elite, after thirty years, suddenly realized their “client” immigrant class are on track to overthrow the system entire, and they will fall with it.

The elite say they will now deport all multi-generational welfare sponges.

Center-right Brits are outraged by the internal astroturfed intifada and the behavior of the mayor of London. The rally point being the utter disrespect of the unknown soldier shown by Muslims at the Cenotaph. Well, at numerous memorial sites and statues. Muslims defaced the Queen Boadicea statue.

      The German case is multifaceted.

By the by. Internet Archive banned my accounts by blocking search engine spiders without actually moving my books etc. into their infamous gulag server colonies.

This is a wholly new thing for them to do. It’s a new category. I mean, there are probably thousands of accounts now banned by this new system.

Prior to this, it just wasn’t that big of a thing to me. What now bothers me is their defiant behavior in the face of their 5013c charter.

So, now it’s jihad. I’m mulling methods to out them on Twitter. A track to alerting Elon Musk via people who influence Musk. @MikeBenzCyber is a beginning point.

“… The present establishment have a choice: They must either find a way to contain these negative consequences, above all by bottling up the opposition, or they must moderate migration. Those are their only two options, and so far they are failing miserably on both fronts. This, above all, is why I think this is a disaster for them. ”

But if on public property, it’s fair game.

Incorrect. You have no legal right to deface public buildings, or monuments, or parks. The walls of libraries for example are not your personal billboard. You have no right to use the walls of courthouses or train stations as your personal billboard. Those are all owned and controlled by government entities that have a director of facilities who manages the properties. Everything you said is wrong. You have zero understanding of property rights, public or private.

She cannot even cogently articulate why she’s doing it. She finally manages to spout one buzzword, one that happens to be entirely irrelevant.

The removal of the posters about the kidnapping victims is particularly egregious, but the truth is that any moderately conservative material gets removed quickly when posted on campus or in Lefty precincts. I first saw this when I was in college almost forty years ago. When challenged, it always has been greeted with shrugs. I’m glad to see some pushback now, but once the dust settles in Gaza, my guess is that the practice of removing anything that challenges the activist agenda will continue unabated.

If I feel strongly about something, I’ll write it on cash and then it’s in circulation…. it takes a lot of time and effort for that to be silenced.

If this were MY fight- I would have a laser printer and about 5k in small bills printing the names of those missing.

I also noticed how many of those tearing down the posters were young women. We women have always been very good (to our detriment) at romanticizing “bad boys”. Turning Hamas terrorists into valiant freedom fighters is not that big of a leap for such women. I mean if they can turn a child in their womb into their most deadly enemy appealing to their irrational emotions is a cake walk.

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”
Anthony Malcolm Daniels writing as “Theodore Dalrymple”
English cultural critic, prison doctor, and psychiatrist

I read this long ago and forgot where but recalled the basics. After watching the Chernobyl series I’ve been looking- thanks. “We told so many lies we forgot what the truth was.”

“… Dalrymple’s key insight in Life at the Bottom is that long-term poverty is caused not by economics but by a dysfunctional set of values, one that is continually reinforced by an elite culture searching for victims. This culture persuades those at the bottom that they have no responsibility for their actions and are not the molders of their own lives. …”

I really need to get better at bookmarking. Long ago I read an account by a primatololgist, Not Goodall – this one studied Colubus or some other primates. She observed the high ranking female and her daughter show interest in the young children of low ranking females of the troop with the intent of killing it if they could. As it was, the mother was forced to keep it in her arms much of the time. This little one did not develop social skills and was emotionally crippled. Resulting in an adult troop member which would never be able to challenge the offspring of the high ranking female and would always be subservient. I think this is happening in human culture today intentionally, thru different means, as noted by Dalrymple. We happen to have grade school and tik-tok

I think it ties in with the Pali pretense that the genocide is directed to them.

They pretend to be freedom fighters, and deny that their purpose is genocide, directed to everybody except their personal sect, when they are speaking English. What they say in their charter and in Arabic is very, very different.

They don’t want to admit that Jews have been harmed. I’ve been watching the fauxtography at X under #MrFAFO #SHIFA and a few other places. For every news story about a HAMAS atrocity, they roll out an Israeli “atrocity” — whether it happened or not seems to be immaterial.

They also counter every report of atrocities by HAMAS, saying it’s a lie.

This is the same lying as happened every other time Hamas or some other Muslim Brotherhood group has attacked Israel. They hope to get gullible people angry at the Jews for causing trouble.

And, the effect is getting shorter-lived in the period I have been observing it.

The best weapon the Israelis have is truthful information. It does penetrate. Most of the non-Muslim Hamas supporters have no idea what Hamas is about, and they are repelled when they find out.
