Top Law Firms Warn Law Schools They Won’t Hire Grads Participating in Anti-Semitic Activities on Campus

“Such anti-Semitic activities would not be tolerated at any of our firms. We also would not tolerate outside groups engaging in acts of harassment and threats of violence, as has also been occurring on many of your campuses.”

Just days after Hamas attacked Israel in October, a law student at NYU publicly expressed support for Hamas, blamed Israel for the attack, and promptly lost a job offer from a top law firm.

Now other firms are following suit. Multiple law firms have sent a letter to law schools warning them that this won’t be tolerated and that they will not hire graduates who are participating in any of this.

Politico reports:

Top U.S. law firms press universities to address antisemitism

Some of the nation’s biggest law firms have a message for law school deans amid an uptick in antisemitic hate crimes: rein in discrimination and harassment on your campuses.

In a letter to deans of the top law schools late Wednesday, 24 prominent law firms urged the institutions to denounce anti-Israel protests and take the “same unequivocal stance against such activities as we do.”

The letter’s signatories included Davis Polk & Wardwell — which recently rescinded job offers to Harvard and Columbia law students over their statements on Israel — as well as Kirkland & Ellis, Skadden and Sullivan & Cromwell.

“We have been alarmed at reports of anti-Semitic harassment, vandalism and assaults on college campuses, including rallies calling for the death of Jews and the elimination of the State of Israel,” they wrote. “Such anti-Semitic activities would not be tolerated at any of our firms. We also would not tolerate outside groups engaging in acts of harassment and threats of violence, as has also been occurring on many of your campuses.”

While it is “imperative” the schools give students guidance to engage in the “free exchange of ideas,” they said, there is “no room” for antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism or other types of “violence, hatred or bigotry” on their campuses and in their firms’ workplaces.

The firms also offered a warning: “As employers who recruit from each of your law schools, we look to you to ensure your students who hope to join our firms after graduation are prepared to be an active part of workplace communities that have zero tolerance policies for any form of discrimination or harassment, much less the kind that has been taking place on some law school campuses.”

Kudos to these law firms. It’s a pity the list isn’t longer.

Hedge fund manager and billionaire Bill Ackman has been a leader in the effort to hold these students accountable. I want to quote the full text of his tweet below:

It’s pathetic that we need to rely on law firms and corporations to police antisemitism on campus. None of them will hire racist students or those that support terrorists.

Every one of these universities, law schools and business schools have made massive recent investments in DEI initiatives, staff and faculty. Where are they? What are they doing?

I spent the day at @Harvard today talking and listening to Jewish and non-Jewish students and faculty.

I learned that Harvard’s DEI staff do not respond to or otherwise take seriously complaints from Asian, White (non-LGBTQ) or Jewish students which partially explains what is happening on campus now.

This moment has been a wake up call for many people about what has been happening in our institutions of higher education.

In addition, from Jewish Harvard alumni:

“For centuries, the posture of Jewish people has been one of conciliation, nursed by the hope that if we show the non-Jewish majority that we are conciliatory, we may escape harm, persecution, and extermination,” the letter continued. “Those days are behind us.”

The Israeliphobic, anti-Semitic students, get jobs at 5013c charity NGO’s, and then spread their hate and lawfare across the country.

IT’S THE GEORGE SOROS ET. AL. NGO’S THAT HIRE THE ANTI-JEW HATERS.

The haters then, by force, give seminars at your company under the rubric of human resources and employment justice.

Israeli University President to Global Colleagues: Why Can’t Jews Be Given Same Protection on Campus as Pronouns?

Any bets that they care more for pronouns than Gazans?

Good for Jews, turning to the cheek is not effective, It is great that some of these immoral obnoxious college students will pay dearly job opportunity wise. Also, a data base where business and the public for these people is essential, when some big firm hires one. we can remind them of their commitment.

They should have stated that until the schools get their shit together, NOT A SINGLE STUDENT from these schools will be hired.

It’s easier to police the entire student body than to look at each individual act. Make every student suffer for the schools.

There are times and issues when “good” people have to stand up and take the side of justice and righteousness.
And when choosing the wrong side marks one as not a “good” person.

This is one of those times. Cheers to those law firms. Now what about the rest…

I have worked with many high performing people, many of whom were Jews, for example Milton Friedman. I really enjoyed their intellect, ethics, family values.

I wish low life in Palestine were smart enough to follow Jews good example.

They can’t. The entire population is too inbred. That makes for severe mental issues and low IQs.

Those low IQ’s are studying at Ivy League schools under tenured anti-Semitic, Israeliphobic professors and administrators.

Then they get hired at 501 3c tax exempt NGO charities and apply their low IQ’s to Lawfare on the American polity at large.

The real problem is Islam and the instructions the profit.

Where’s White & Case on this List? Hmm….

Consequences and repercussions are absolutely required. I suspect that the lack of those previously is how many of the Students got so far away from acceptable civil/societal norms of behavior. Spare the rod and this is what the result is.

They will be admonished to go silent on their beliefs. All war uses deceit per The Prophet (PBUH … or else)… so they will go underground and corrode silently from within.

Which probably won’t happen. The entire woke, lefty progressive ideology is predicated on the narrative of oppressor v oppressed. IMO, while there absolutely is a long-standing casual antisemitism on the left the current mass of demonstrators is coming from two camps.

The first are the true believing kool aid drinkers and the useful idiots who fit Israel into the oppressor category; mostly white, ‘settler/colonialist’ which ‘occupies land stolen from indigenous people’, is a Western democracy and capitalist to boot. These are mostly the indoctrinated products of our overly ideological K-12 and university systems. They might be turned from folly.

The second, more dangerous group IMO, are comprised of imported foreign Students (far more of these than many realize on our campuses) along with immigrants and their progeny which remain every much not assimilated to our Western, multiethnic, multi religious society where tolerance of differences and self restraint is required for its existence. This group is far less likely to be turned away from their dangerous path.

The students are just expressing favoring brown people over white people, which is fairly traditional even in law firms.

The whites just happen to be Jewish.

Not only is cancel culture wrong but they’re getting the motivation wrong.

rhhardin in reply to rhhardin. | November 3, 2023 at 6:07 pm

Hitler was an anti-semite from personal experience. Jews kept defeating him in political arguments in Vienna in the early 20s. The students have no such motivation with respect to Jews except that Jews are smarter than brown people.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to rhhardin. | November 3, 2023 at 7:11 pm

I didn’t look it up, but since Jews are close to 2 standard deviations smarter, it will be incredibly rare that brown or black will fare well against Jews.

        rhhardin in reply to JohnSmith100. | November 3, 2023 at 7:55 pm

83 vs 103, or 113 if you select out Ashkenazi Jews. The difference in how much stuff they have is thought to have been caused by stealing.

Israel has made several moves for mutually beneficial trade but every one has been sabotaged by Hamas, explosively or otherwise.

How can the Palestinians compete with the smartness and resources of the Jews? Also how can the Jews compete with the low labor costs of the Palestinians? Both are right, and the theory is called comparative (not competitive) advantage.

Comparative advantage explains why the secretary of the economics department walks papers to the dean’s office even though the head of the economics department walks faster than she does.

There’s a divvying up of tasks that benefits both sides, not necessarily doing the task that your side is best at.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | November 4, 2023 at 10:40 am

No, they’re not. Jews are no whiter than “Palestinians”.

They should be doxxed and banned.

Time conservatives and civil libs started fighting back against fascists commies and musselmans. Civ. Is at stake, boys

This is great as far as it goes. But, more needs to be done. Soon, many of these law students will be graduating and seeking admission to the bars of various states. Not only will the students have to take and pass the bar exam, they will also have to prove they are of good moral character to become practicing lawyers. The students who have engaged in anti-Semitic activity must be identified and their admission to the bar challenged. This will go far in reigning in the outrageous activities of many law students.

The otherwise praiseworthy letter regrettably included an unnecessary and unfortunate reference to the despicable propaganda device of so-called “Islamophobia,” a word intended to intimidate and cow people from asserting legitimate criticism and scrutiny of Islam’s intrinsic and innumerable pathologies, as well as to whitewash and absolve Muslims of any scintilla of responsibility for their belligerent and supremacist behavior and violence, and, to fallaciously cast Muslims as alleged victims.

It is an interesting contrast that no law firms of which I am aware expressed objections to hiring, for example, Antifa or BLM thugs and terrorists in urban areas and on campuses. I wonder why.

IMO Law schools should know & teach that Oath taking for Muslims has a different meaning from that taken in the English tradition (https://islamseries.files.wordpress.com/2020/04/what-islam-teaches-about-taking-an-oath-so-help-me-god.pdf )
