New Jersey Transgender Swimmer Sets State College Record in 100-Yard Butterfly
Meghan Cortez-Fields competed on the men’s swimming team for three years.

Meghan Cortez-Fields, a senior at Ramapo College, set a New Jersey college record in the 100-yard butterfly at the Cougar Splash Invitational.
The swimmer came in second in the 200-yard butterfly and first in the 200-yard individual medley.
The Ramapo College Instagram account that posted the photo of the male swimmer has now deleted the post

Cortez-Fields competed on the men’s swimming team for three years. I cannot find his placements and times in any articles.
Cortez-Fields cited Lia Thomas as an inspiration. He went to the women’s team because men’s swimming doesn’t allow a full swimsuit.
The rule led Cortez-Fields to put tape over his breasts: “I choose to tape my breasts because I feel it is very uncomfortable and kind of dehumanizing to swim without a top.”
Martina Navratilova is one of the loudest athletes who speak against males in female sports.

It generated a perverse interest in a contest type which was falling from favor and audience. Maybe good for business, at least until it was a “thing” with children (OK, their parent/s).

Why not let them compete with their sex but count their times/results in the trans category? This swimmer may have been last among men, but first among trans until some other trans man does better. Same with trans women. Their results count separately because they are in a different class. And it goes without saying, no man should be allowed to physically beat up a woman athlete.

I’m from NJ and not sure where Ramapo College is. What Ramapo College should do is field a women’s basketball team of all the second string men on the male basketball team and claim they are transgender women and see how they do. Perhaps they could get an NCAA tourney bid and become national champions. That would put Ramapo College on the map for sure.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that the “trans swimmer” was a guy pretending he’s a girl, rather than a girl pretending she’s a guy. I wonder why the people who think this is fair don’t notice that this is a one-way street? Has there ever been a girl pretending to be a guy who shot tot he top of the men’s rankings?
The only sport where women have been able to compete with men on an equal basis (and win) is in drag racing (no pun).
I always liked American Ninja Warrior because they treated everyone the same. The women ran the same obstacle courses as the men. And the women who competed tried hard and never complained about needing “ladies’ tees” or anything of the sort. Respect.

it certainly looks to me as if the new generation of women respect themselves to the extent that they reflect male behavior. So, having children is secondary to career goals. College girls drink shots, sometimes in jello to get them down, and then hook up for the night with virtual strangers. That’s good because guys can drink shots, hook up, and walk away the next morning with no repercussions. So why shouldn’t girls? Dominating the boardroom is the greatest goal. And one daren’t be sentimental in a ruthless business environment. This is the only explanation i can think of for the femminists acceptance of trans as actual women. They may actually be jealous of the equipment … who knows.
Most women only want equality when the job is in an office setting, complete with temperature controlled air, ergonomic office furniture, a break room, indoor plumbing, and an elevator that leads to the boardroom.
I don’t see many women fighting for equality in construction, plumbing, sewage, oil rigs, and the other jobs that won’t be done unless men do it. Yes, I do recognize that a small percentage of women do these jobs, but it is minuscule.
35 years ago in New England, we had an exterminator. Slight build, close cropped blond hair, regional hatchet face. Gave us a name, none of us could tell for sure if we heard “Darryl” or “Carol.” Superb at rooting out in-wall yellowjacket nests. Did our house for three years, we never did figure it out. 100% true story.
I’m going to disagree with you. Most women I’ve met just want an equal shot at a job they are qualified for. No special hiring quota’s, no equity nonsense. My wife raised 3 kids as a welder and is darn good at it. No special favors, can you weld or not?

I’m waiting for a mediocre pole-vaulter to decide to compete against the girls. He would immediately become a world-class pole-vaulter. The women’s world record is 16 feet 7 inches, but most good high-school boys vault 1-2 feet higher than that.
