Burton just had to kick off the National Book Awards ceremony by smearing Moms for Liberty because if anyone from the organization attended, he would raise his hands at them:

How else does one interpret the statement, LeVar? You would put your hands on a woman?
Moms for Liberty does not ban books. No one has banned books. God forbid parents want books in the age-appropriate spots in libraries.
Why didn’t LeVar say anything about the California district that removed To Kill a Mockingbird from its required reading list? It also eliminated Of Mice and Men and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
How about the teachers in Washington who also want to ban To Kill a Mockingbird?
Oh, wait. Since they’re progressive teachers, they only try to “prohibit” the book.

Why are all the old Star Trek folks such flaming morons and lefties? (OK, the new ones, too. And everyone else in Hollywood, practically.)
Let’s see. They depicted a universe in which there was no money, nobody got paychecks, everyone got what he needed or wanted from replicators powered by limitless energy (although they were “rationed,” and weapons were prohibited, solely for reasons of social control), people worked almost entirely because they “wanted to,” and humanity’s scientific exploration vessels and military vessels were the very same vessels.
And you ask me why they were flaming commies? Because that’s a description of commie heaven.

Shatner saved Star Trek from Roddenberry. An unrestrained Roddenberry would have given us garbage like STTNG Thanks to Shatner, a generation was spared that torture.

Shatner is famous for the size of his ego, as the (one of three) lead on ST he ticked off a bunch of his fellow actors who wanted a more ensemble cast. Which is one reason why Galaxy Quest is such a funny parody of ST for die hard fans. Like that captain, he hogged the limelight of the role at the expense of fellow cast members, then was astonished to be hated for that.
But other than that, he comes across now as a decent guy. And an actor with some serious chops, despite decades of folks making fun of his ST acting. At the least, he developed a sense of humor at his own expense, Danny Crane is an obvious and funny sendup of himself.
As I recall, James Doohan was also a quiet decent guy.

Strange that although I pay attention to the news I have not heard of any books being banned. Some have been pulled out of libraries as age inappropriate which has been going on for decades but you can still get them next day from Amazon.

For the past 15 years or so, the various book awards (e.g. Pulitzer, National Book Award, …) have gotten so woke that I basically just look at their winner list to know what to avoid.
May I take this opportunity to note that Star Trek the Next Generation sucked. I mean it really sucked. Only thing that might be worse are the new Star Wars movies, which also suck beyond description.
