Jacob Chansley, the ‘QAnon Shaman,’ Files Papers to Run for Congress in Arizona

Jacob Chansley, known as ‘QAnon Shaman’ from January 6th, filed papers to run for Congress in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District for the Libertarian Party.

Rep. Debbie Lasko (R) announced last month that she will not seek re-election in November 2024. She has served the district since 2018.

Chansley became the face of the Capitol Hill Riot with his horned fur hat, face paint, and tattoos.

In November 2021, Chansley received a 41-month sentence for obstructing a civil proceeding. Video showed Capitol Police escorting him around, not slowing or stopping him.

Weird. Rep. Jamaal Bowman also obstructed a civil proceeding, and he got a slap on the wrist.

Chansley went from prison to a halfway home in March 2023.

Arizona does not allow convicted felonies to vote until they complete the sentence.

The Constitution does not ban convicted felons from running and holding federal office.

I’m not shocked Chansley chose the Libertarian Party. He has spoken out against conspiracy theories and denounced President Donald Trump.

Plus, the Republican primary is crowded, for the lack of a better word:
