The IDF just announced it is conducting a raid on Shifa Hospital (a Hamas command center):
IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital, based on intelligence information and an operational necessity.
The IDF is conducting a ground operation in Gaza to defeat Hamas and rescue our hostages. Israel is at war with Hamas, not with the civilians in Gaza.
The IDF forces include medical teams and Arabic speakers, who have undergone specified training to prepare for this complex and sensitive environment, with the intent that no harm is caused to the civilians being used by Hamas as human shields.
In recent weeks, the IDF has publicly warned time and again that Hamas’ continued military use of the Shifa hospital jeopardizes its protected status under international law, and enabled ample time to stop this unlawful abuse of the hospital. Yesterday, the IDF conveyed to the relevant authorities in Gaza once again that all military activities within the hospital must cease within 12 hours. Unfortunately, they did not.
The IDF has also facilitated wide-scale evacuations of the hospital and maintained regular dialogue with hospital authorities. We call upon all Hamas terrorists present in the hospital to surrender.

Egypt will take the 36 premature babies in the Al-Shifa hospital into custody using IDF-provided incubators. They will be provided with medical care on Egyptian territory. This deal was reached in talks between the head of the Shin Beit and Egyptian officials yesterday.

If I were a praying man, this would be an excellent time to pray for Israel. If there’s a G*d, please help them.
History makes it clear that God expects people to use their abilities to help themselves. Looks to me like Israel is doing so.
A little Divine help at this point would be welcome.
The fact is that hamas’ logistical and command operations are organized around hospitals, mosques, schools, and playgrounds. That is how hamas fights. That’s how arabs and muslims mostly fight, and have been doing so for all of their history (insomuch as they have had those things and have had enemies who were dumb enough to claim they were holier-than-thou and refrain from attacking those spots.
The hospital should just be blown up. This is war. hamas are the elected representatives of the gazans and they have taken the gazans to war (and by reactions in gaza, not against their will in any way. But, even if they did … tough titties. Israel is not responsible for gaza civilians, the ruling government in gaza is.
Israel is probably not going to prosecute this part of the war (the larger war between the Arab/Persian/Muslim world and the West) correctly and that will be left for later – when people in the West truly tire of the aggressive violence and insanity of the APM world. Then, cities will be firebombed and leveled as they rightly were in WWII.
But … all of this can actually be averted if we just defang the APM world. How do we do that? SImple. All threats from the APM world start AND STOP with control of the gulf oil fields. This is what it all comes down to. Take a bunch of unpopulated oil fields from the arabs and persians (which they initially stole int he forced nationalizations of last century) and they will no longer be any threats to anyone. Leave control of the oil fields with them (any of them) and the threats to the West and the modern world will never stop.

It’s amazing IDF casualties haven’t been higher so far. Makes you wonder if significant numbers of Hamas fighters escaped to the south. Prior to entering Fallujah in late 2004, we encircled the {much smaller) city and simply didn’t allow military age men to leave…escape. Carnage ensued. That really wasn’t an option for Israel as there’s too much pressure on them to maintain an evac corridor to the south…for now, at least.
At least IDF can sack the makeshift and underground Hamas weapons & munitions stores which should begin to reduce the load on the Iron Dome.
We’re it my call, I would have the tunnels collapsed, the buildings leveled and the wreckage tilled under. Anything else just invites them to come back again later.
The only sane thing to do is destroy every building, vehicle, and bunker used by Hamas. Mosques, charities, hospitals, factories, warehouses. Everything. Turn it all into powder and slag, and if they rebuild a single wall, do it again.
That isn’t a hospital it’s an armory, just like mosques are. Islamic doctrine makes it clear that mosques are storehouses of arms and safehouses for soldiers. I guarantee mosques across Gaza house soldiers, guns, and explosives.
Islamic charities fund the mujahideen, as paying for salaries, equipment, and medical care of soldiers is one of the explicit purposes of charity in Islam. I doubt Israel can confiscate their assets because Hamas almost certainly uses Saudi or Qatar banks, and hawala networks to transport cash.
Using hospital as human shield is war crime.
Using a hospital as a human shield and location from which to launch terrorist activity violates international law and makes the facility fair game in any military action. That Israel is attempting to minimize civilian casualties at the facility is commendable but not required.
