Patton style war fighting: Keep killing the enemy as long as there is even one combatant thinking about engaging, and until the enemy feels truly beaten and lays down its arms. There is time after true victory for humanitarian aid to enemy civilians, but until the war ends; hunger, thirst, depravation, and death is Nature’s way of encouraging them to overthrow the bloodthirsty tyrants they elected.
In WW II, nobody ever asked for a cease fire for the humanitarian purpose of aiding German citizens who were suffering the privations caused by their leadership’s war. In fact, it seems that Hamas/Gaza is unique in this regard. In every other war, combat is prosecuted until one side surrenders, or they agree to a truce (of whatever sort). Until there’s a cessation of hostilities, the welfare of the combatant’s own citizens are their respective responsibility, and no one else’s.
I hope the Israelis are in for the long haul, and that includes the suffering of the Gazans. If the world cares so much about them, why does it stand with Hamas, which can be seen here literally welcoming the deaths of its own people?
Ok to cease fire. Two conditions however. The first is immediate release of all hostages. The second is the unconditional surrender of Hamas. By unconditional I mean laying down their arms and all 40,00 plus marching into captivity. Israel should have quick military tribunals and executions for all those who planned or participated in the attacks.
The others can serve long terms at hard labor much like how Stalin treated Nazi pows.

To be fair there’s more than a few chicken hawks in the ranks of US neocon/establishment types who’s answer seems to be ‘send the 82nd Airborne/USMC’. It always seems strange to me that the most vocal cheerleaders for this more aggressive course didn’t serve in uniform themselves nor is it their own Sons and Daughters they want to put into harms way in a distant place.
They seem to have lots of money. Therefore a practical solution to their lust for war is for them to form mercenary units, arm themselves and then charge into the conflict.
This solution would solve many problems permanently.
If we are not already there yet, we are very near justification for indiscriminate bombing of Gaza.
A ground campaign, hoping to spare the “innocents” would entail unnecessary risk given that there are essentially no actual innocents.
It I were advising Israel sure. Park some ships offshore, get Egypt to build temp camps. Tell the ‘civilians’ to either to one or the other but make sure their ass isn’t in Gaza. Then just level the place. Pump diesel into the tunnels and light them up. Push the the rubble out to sea to make a breakwater. Give each adult former resident of Gaza a $100K but they have to go to an Israeli embassy to sign up, give an interview, biometric data, photo. Run all that through Israeli Intel to weed out known bad guys. Wish them well wherever they end up but it won’t be in Gaza.
