Cooper Union Alums Threaten to Stop Donations Over School’s Response to Pro-Hamas Protests

Cooper Union is the school where Jewish students were recently trapped in a library by anti-Israel protesters.

Cooper Union alumni threaten to end donations over school’s response to anti-Israel protestors
Over 300 Cooper Union alumni are threatening to cut donations to the university over its response to an anti-Israel demonstration that left a group of Jewish students cornered inside a campus library in fear for their safety.
The graduates made the funding threat in a scathing Nov. 2 letter to Cooper Union that accused the school of being “more concerned with avoiding a scandal than protecting its Jewish students.”
The letter alleged Cooper Union’s director of campus safety of advising the NYPD not to enter the school library during the Oct. 25 protest, even as students made repeated 911 calls as anti-Israel demonstrators banged on the closed doors and yelled anti-Israeli chants in the wake of Hamas’ October 7 attack on the Jewish nation.
“It’s unbelievable that a rowdy mob intimidating Jews was not the scandal you feared, nor took action against. Instead, you put students in harm’s way to prevent the PR nightmare of uniformed officers escorting the protesters away from the building,” the letter read.
Video from inside the library during the protest showed Jewish students holed up behind metal doors rattling from the banging fists and chants of protestors marching through the hallway.

If a families persist in paying for their kids to apply to or enroll at Cooper Union then that’s all that will count in the end.
In fact, any of those students who were licked in the library ……… let’s face facts: they are pathetic invertebrates if they return for spring semester.

Well, that’s one possibility. The other is that they are showing great courage in not letting the bullies run them out of town.
All Cooper Union students get a 1/2 tuition scholarship valued at $22,275 plus state, federal and assorted grants valued up to 100% of tuition for a world class education in an environment free of unlawful discrimination and harassment,
Maybe the school’s rationale is the world has established a lawful public right of way easement to menace Jews?
Many female college students transfer in the wake of a bad breakup or a broken heart or a stalker situation. These things unfortunately do happen, these kids are just 18 or 19 or 20.
To remain at a college when you may be under threat of harassment or violence is just not mentally healthy.
If these Cooper Union Jews do not walk away then they are rationalizing in the same exact way that German Jews did after Hitler came to power in 1932.

Wrong. Keep going there, take krav maga classes on the side. If this is done right, the students who were threatening now will be the fearful ones before long, and they should be denied any support and told or encouraged to leave.
The left didn’t conquer these institutions by running away at every setback.
CU told the cops NOT to go in to protect the Jewish students? There should be prosecutions here against whatever staff did that. Serious felonies, reckless endangerment comes to mind, probably also civil rights violations. Conspiracy if this was talked about among staff, which it surely was if it was their policy response.
The idiots and thugs have taken over our institutions to a surprising degree. Is what’s left worth saving? It would be good to take a hiatus somehow and let the idiots and thugs sort things out among themselves without the help of their betters whom they are currently oppressing.
As others have said here, why are we paying to enable this garbage and these garbage people? Still the cost is quite high for someone who just needs a couple years to finish their degree at CU, keep their head down, get done and never send back a penny in alum contributions.
