‘California’ Congressman Adam Schiff Has Full-Time Home In Maryland

‘California’ Congressman Adam Schiff Has Full-Time Home In Maryland

While he also claims a “primary residence” in California, sources say he is ‘rarely’ on the West Coast.

The last time we checked on California’s smarmiest Congressman, Democrat Adam Schiff, we was just censured by the House of Representatives for his lies about the Trump-Russia collusion.

Schiff is hoping to take his brand of hyperbole and histrionics to the US Senate, as he is running to fill the seat once held by the late Dianne Feinstein. Legal Insurrection readers may recall that seat was filled by Gov. Gavin Newsom, who put into place EMILY’s List President Laphonza Butler.

Butler’s appointment raised some eyebrows, as it appears that she listed her state of residence as being Maryland.

It appears Schiff may have that in common with Butler, then.

U.S. Senate hopeful Rep. Adam Schiff on Monday maintained California remains his primary residence despite reports indicating his full-time home is in Maryland.

“I think just about every member of Congress has a residence in their state and a residence back in D.C. since we’re in session much of the week,” Schiff told KCRA 3. “People make a family decision where they’re going to have their kids, but our principal residence — our primary residence — is in California. Always has been and always will be.”

Schiff made the comments in Salinas after his first public appearance and fundraiser since the reports surfaced last week. CNN reported mortgage records show Schiff owns a 650-square-foot condo in Burbank and a 3,420-square-foot home in Maryland, where he raises his children.

When KCRA 3 asked how he’ll respond to those who question if he understands the California experience while he raises his children and owns a significantly larger home in Maryland, Schiff replied, “I think honestly it’s a non-issue.”

What Schiff asserts and what the reality is, however, may be two entirely different things. The New York Post delved into this issue, finding that the congressman was rarely in California.

One insider told The Post the congressman is “rarely at his California apartment,” which is a modest one-bedroom, one-bathroom residence.

The revelation comes as Schiff faces stiff competition in the California Senate primary against fellow Democratic Reps. Katie Porter and Barbara Lee.

Deed records reveal that Schiff designated his Maryland property as his primary residence in 2003 when he purchased it for $870,000.

In 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, Schiff refinanced his mortgage and consistently indicated the Maryland property as his primary residence.

Los Angeles County deed records for Schiff’s Burbank condo, purchased in 2009 for $298,000, raise eyebrows as they were notarized in Maryland.

The records feature alterations that replaced “California” and “Los Angeles” with “Maryland” and “Montgomery County,” listing Schiff’s Maryland address as the return address. This inconsistency further fuels doubts about his true primary residence.

It appears Schiff did some documentation manipulation…to save money on the taxes he wants the rest of us to pay.

Schiff has for years taken a homeowner’s tax exemption on a much smaller 650 square foot condo he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a $7,000 reduction off the 1% property tax, amounting to a roughly $70 in annual savings. He did not take an exemption on his home in Maryland.

While Schiff has signed documents asserting both the Maryland property and the significantly smaller Burbank condo as his primary residences, tax records indicate that he paid his California property taxes in 2017 with a check featuring his Maryland address – the only year he paid with a personal check. And a review of past comments, pictures shared on his public social media, and records indicate Schiff makes his full-time home in Maryland.

Of course, by living in Maryland, Schiff will be more readily at the beck-and-call of those entities who rely on Big Government largess….so there is that.

Schiff’s own real estate deeds and tax declarations indicate both violating violating Article I, Section 2, paragraph 2 of the Constitution and thus being ineligible to be a California congress-critter, AND that he has probably committed numerous felonies involving taxes and fraud. And if it can be ruled that his ineligibility for the California seat in Congress means that he needs to repay all his Federal pay and benefits, there is a monetary cost that should include a penalty. Then there is the matter of whether all his votes on the floor and in committee should be considered void since he was not a legitimate member of Congress.

However, he is a Leftist Federal government official. Functionally, he is above and outside the law and the Constitution. Nothing will be done, other than it being yet another example of how there is no equal rule of law.

Anyone care to dispute this?

When that house in SanFranciso, California’s 11th district that Nancy Pelosi represents, was broken into and her husband attacked, it was apparent that he just met boyfriends there and she never came by. This should have disqualified her in the election soon after that, but her R opponent showed no interest in pursuing the issue and actually winning the seat. R’s are indeed losers, as Vivek pointed out last night, because they don’t play to win.

How many Dems could be disqualified from the ballot if their opponents would just go to court?

Pelosi is also known to have property up by Napa Valley, and she just built a nice big house in Florida, I think Palm Beach, where she apparently goes when not in DC. So for her, the SF house is not even her primary non-DC-area house.

I doubt if this is illegal, but I find it personally annoying, because I own a house in new state and have been living in another since the pandemic.

I do not have the privilege enjoyed by congressmen. I can’t do insider trading, either.

Schiff committed fraud on his remortgage application for the MD home. If you’re a republican and it’s alleged that you committed fraud on a loan application, you get indicted and tried for it. Or at least if you’re a Republican named Trump.

He must have heard that it’s easier to become a senator in California if you live in Maryland

It would be funny to find out he voted by mail in Maryland. What county did he live in?

Off topic: can the Tangle pop-up be gotten rid of? They get in the way, and Tangle ads already appear on the right.

Thank you.

He should be owning the larger primary residence in CA where his wife and family spend most of their time, and rent smaller residence in MD for his work.

Where does he pay state income tax? Where is he registered to vote?

Our betters can rule us from wherever they reside in this post nation state world without borders.

I would like to know where each member of government resides, where they own property, and what they own part of. This would make sense in terms of voting for them and why they vote a certain way.
