Biden Sends Email to 800K Student Loan Borrowers to Take Credit for Erasing Their Debt

The Supreme Court told Biden that he doesn’t have the power to just wave away student loan debt, but he is finding ways to make it look like he is acting on this pet issue for the left.

And since he absolutely wants credit for this, he is making sure that people know what he is doing.

Axios reported:

Exclusive: Biden emails 800k student loan borrowers about forgiven debtMore than 800,000 student loan borrowers are set to receive a message from President Biden Tuesday afternoon. Why it matters: The email, shared in advance with Axios, is a direct appeal from the president to beneficiaries of his administration’s debt forgiveness push, as his approval rating among Democrats hit a record low last month, jeopardizing his 2024 re-election bid.Driving the news: “I hope this relief gives you a little more breathing room,” Biden’s Tuesday email states.

Of note: The 813,000 borrowers receiving the email were those who weren’t accurately credited for student loan payments that should have given them forgiveness, or people placed into forbearance by loan servicers who violated Department of Education policies.

Christian Datoc of the Washington Examiner explains how Biden is doing this:

The Biden administration has thus far canceled $127 billion in loan debt for nearly 3.6 million borrowers. In August, after the Supreme Court’s decision striking down Biden’s unilateral student loan debt forgiveness, the White House rolled out the “SAVE” debt forgiveness plan and additional amendments to income-driven repayment programs. The administration claims that 5.5 million people have signed up for SAVE programs and that nearly 3 million of those people qualify for $0 monthly payments. In his email, Biden called SAVE “the most affordable repayment plan in history,” claiming the initiative will “prevent balances from growing because of interest.”

Of course, there’s one thing that’s driving the Biden White House to do this.

FOX News reports:

Biden’s standing with young voters gets scathing assessment in NY Times: ‘Many young Democrats don’t like him’The New York Times warned its audience that President Biden’s deep unpopularity with young voters — even in a potential rematch with former President Donald Trump — is a clear signal that should trouble his supporters.”Virtually every poll shows a close race between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump among young voters,” New York Times chief political analyst Nate Cohn wrote, not just recent New York Times polling.”To many of our readers and others, it’s a little hard to believe — so hard to believe that it seems to them the polls are flat-out wrong,” Cohn wrote.”We see no evidence of that,” Cohn added. “In our polling, the problem for Mr. Biden isn’t too few young Democrats. It’s that many young Democrats don’t like him.”

Democrats are terrified of losing the youth vote in 2024. They have to bring them back into the fold somehow.
