As Israel Upholds Ceasefire, Hamas Terrorists Shoot and Murder 3 Israelis in Jerusalem

Victims include two women and a 70-year-old Rabbi.

While Israel upheld the ceasefire for the sixth day, the terrorist group Hamas carried out a deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem that killed three Israelis and injured eleven others.

The attack took place during the Thursday morning rush hour when two Hamas terrorists, one of them armed with a M16 rifle, opened fire at vehicles and passersby on a busy West Jerusalem junction. The terrorists were subdued by the security forces and an armed civilian, killing one terrorist and injuring another.

The victims of the terror attack were identified as Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman (70), Chana Ifergen (60), and Livia Dickman (24).

The terrorists were known members of Hamas, who had previously been imprisoned on terrorism charges. “The two terrorists who carried out the deadly attack in Jerusalem on Thursday morning were identified as brothers from east Jerusalem who have known associations with Hamas, according to a Shin Bet statement,” the Jerusalem Post confirmed. “They were both imprisoned for terrorist activities in the past.”

The Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported:

Three Israelis were murdered Thursday morning, when two terrorists opened fire from their car at Givat Shaul junction, near the entrance to Jerusalem.

A 24-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene. Shortly thereafter a 73-year-old man was declared dead. A third victim, a 60-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly after 9 am local time. Eleven additional people were wounded, five of them seriously, and were evacuated to Jerusalem area hospitals Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Hadassah Ein Kerem.

Terrorists opened fire at civilians standing at a bus stop using an automatic weapon and a handgun. Nearby security forces and a civilian responded to the attack. One of the terrorists was reportedly shot and in serious condition and the second one eliminated. (…)

According to Hebrew media, one of the responders to the scene was a soldier on leave from serving in Gaza who was on his way back to the frontline. In video footage from the attack, he can be scene emerging from a car with his weapon and running toward the terrorists.

West Bank car ramming attack

In the West Bank, a Palestinian terrorist rammed his car into Israeli troops, slightly injuring two soldiers, Israeli media reported Thursday afternoon.

The Times of Israel reported the West Bank ramming:

The Israel Defense Forces says troops shot a Palestinian driver who rammed into reservists at a military checkpoint in the Jordan Valley.

Two soldiers are lightly hurt in the incident, which the IDF says was a deliberate attack.

The IDF says troops are scanning the area for potential additional suspects.

While the Biden administration and Western countries are pressuring Israel to extend the ceasefire and scale down the military operation in Gaza, Hamas is using the truce to regroup and carry out attacks against Israel. The shooting attack in Jerusalem comes a day after Hamas violated the ceasefire in Gaza by planting multiple explosives and opening fire on Israeli troops, injuring several IDF soldiers.

Israel extends ceasefire for 7th day

Despite truce violations by Hamas, Israelis extended the ceasefire for the seventh day as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s national unity government seeks the release of more hostages from the jaws of Hamas.

The Israeli broadcaster Arutz Sheva reported:

Israel on Thursday morning confirmed that it had received a list of women and children to be released, which meets the criteria of the ceasefire agreements of the past six days.

The list includes eight women and children instead of ten, after Hamas claimed that the two Russian-Israelis released as a gesture to Russian President Vladimir Putin came at the expense of two Israeli hostages.

Later reports said that Hamas is expected to return the bodies of three hostages, in addition to the eight living hostages.

The Prime Minister’s Office responded: “The War Cabinet decided unanimously last night that if by seven in the morning we had not received a list that meets the criteria in the agreement, the fighting will immediately be renewed. This morning Israel received a list of women and children in accordance with the conditions of the agreement, and so the break in fighting will continue.”

Israel vows to resume Gaza offensive soon

Prime Minister Netanyahu and members of his war cabinet promised to resume the IDF counter-terrorism operations once the hostages are released as part of the ongoing deal.

The release of nearly 100 Israeli and foreign hostages has so far been secured in return for roughly double that number of Palestinian convicts, mostly murderers and terrorists. Some 140 hostages are still believed to be in the hands of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other Gaza-based terrorist groups.

The Times of Israel reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Wednesday that the war to destroy terror group Hamas will resume as soon as an ongoing process to secure the release of hostages held captive in the Gaza Strip comes to an end.

His vow to continue the fight was echoed by the other two members of the war cabinet, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister Benny Gantz, as well as by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, who all issued statements of readiness to immediately progress with the military campaign.

Meanwhile, with talks underway to potentially extend the current deal beyond Wednesday for another two or more days, an official from the Prime Minister’s Office said Israel will push for all children and civilian women hostages to be released through the current ceasefire deal before broadening negotiations to free adult male and soldier hostages.

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas after it carried out a massive cross-border terror attack last month, invading from the Gaza Strip and slaughtering over 1,200 people in southern Israel, mostly civilians. Terrorists also abducted at least 240 as hostages.

Atrocity after atrocity. Crimes against Humanity left and right. And yet we’re not allowed to state what should actually be happening to the Hamas terrorists and the Gazan “civilians” here on LI. How disgusting is that.

In any case, why Netanyahu is upholding the “cease fire” is beyond me. At this point he should double down on the offensive and wipe Hamas and the rest of Gaza off the face of the Earth. Israel needs to be done with this farce and take clear action. It will save them much grief in the future. Guranteed.

why Netanyahu is upholding the “cease fire” is beyond me
I think the primary reason is two-fold:
First, there’s a belief in the need for world opinion so they get cheap arms and ammunition from folks like us. And not too much push back – boycotts, embargoes, etc.
Second, I think he has an overall need to value the lives of the hostages too highly. He has to make them the top priority, in his mind, above the annihilation of the enemy. That one is going to get him to lose the war. (And it’s exactly why they took the hostages.)

Hag McSplodyface, formerly known as Asraa Jabes, was released from prison in a Israeli hostages for Palestinian terrorists swap.

Upon release, McSpoldyface complained about being in prison, which happens to be the point of prison.

Because they value the lives of the hostages. Getting hostages released has value.

As long as the Israelis still have a political consensus on wiping out Hamas, it’s reasonable to play a longer game rather than rushing the job.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to clintack. | November 30, 2023 at 10:39 am

So just how many other Israelis must die for the noble cause of getting the hostages released? Three? Four? Ten? One-hundred?

How many times should Israel allow Hamas to violate the “cease fire” with impunity all for the sacred cause of getting the hostages released. Once? Twice? More than that?

And I’m afraid that once all the hostages are either released the “political consensus on wiping out Hamas” will evaporate and Israel will stop short of eliminating Hamas as a threat to Israel – only to have to deal with them (or worse) in the near future.

Disclaimer: I have never been, nor has anyone I love, ever been a hostage. That said, if I ever am a hostage, I would hope that someone would nuke the place. From space.

Of course, I am old enough that while I hope I have a lot of good years ahead of me, I have already lived a good life to this point. Not the case of the child hostages.

The two architects of the October 7 attack were 2 of the convicted murderers among the1,000 convicted terrorists that Israel released in return for Gilad Shalit, in clear violation of Jewish religious law. Don’t let anyone sell you the lie that Israel is a theocracy.

Yes, it is true that the value the lives of the hostages, but I also think that more importantly Netanyahu is afraid that if Israel doesn’t knuckle down to the USA, then the weapons spigot will be turned off and if that happens, they won’t be able to do anything about the hostages.

. . .Netanyahu is afraid that if Israel doesn’t knuckle down to the USA, then the weapons spigot will be turned off and if that happens, they won’t be able to do anything about the hostages.

Nah, won’t happen. The democrat party and the Biden regime already have a big enough problem with their antisemitic image already. Cutting off weapons to Israel will only make that image worse. And that’s something that they can’t allow to happen with the rapidly approaching 2024 presidential election.

Well, when the hostage game is done, the making Gazan’s really sorry should resume with vengeance, turn up the heat.

Yes, and make sure that every convicted terrorist released in exchange for a hostage (more accurately, for 1/3 of a hostage) meets with a fatal accident.

the terrorist group Hamas carried out a deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem
Well, that’s in violation of the ceasefire, and the right thing to do would be to, say, bomb a city block somewhere in Gaza into oblivion. Also, to cut off all resupply (“aid shipments”). Then you change the rules: “The only way you’re getting anything short of annihilation now is to turn over ALL hostages immediately and surrender unconditionally.”

It’s part of the general Hamas “You can’t live here” campaign, sort of a separate thing from hostage exchanges.

It should be that from the river to the sea, Pale’s can no longer live there. Kick them all out, they have that coming.

“The terrorists were known members of Hamas, who had previously been imprisoned on terrorism charges. “The two terrorists who carried out the deadly attack in Jerusalem on Thursday morning were identified as brothers from east Jerusalem “

That right there is the problem

“Known terrorists living in East Jerusalem “

Sounds like America and our very own FBI, police

What Fat pigs they were

Probably on Israel public dole

NavyMustang in reply to gonzotx. | November 30, 2023 at 11:20 am

Hmmm. I wonder when they were released. It would be too ironic if they were part of the current releases.

    No, the problem is here:
previously been imprisoned on terrorism charges

If they had been executed, as all terrorists should be (cf. our own problems with not doing that) they wouldn’t have been around to do it again. Death sentences are the ultimate in reducing recidivism.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to GWB. | November 30, 2023 at 3:52 pm

After all they have done to Israeli’s, it seems like the manner of execution should be creative & entertaining. Have any of you seen those cone shaped wood splitters

The Gentle Grizzly | November 30, 2023 at 10:27 am

Kwell surprise.

Frankly, the only way to end this to expel these animals from both Gaza and the entire Judea and Samaria Area. This of course will never happen.

kudos to that soldier and civilian–acting quickly and deciscively–excellent

condolences to the victims and their families

alas, just another “random” attack by hamas affiliates

At least one hostage was held by a UN staffer.

The ceasefire is about munitions as much as it about getting hostages released.

israel is in the unenviable position of having its munitions supply largely dependent on the U.S. DoD. The Dhimmi-crat Biden Administration will only require the flimsiest excuse/pretext to shut off the weapons pipeline to Israel, thus undermining any attempt at the IDF waging a protracted war to eliminate Hamas. There are already Dhimmi-crats within and without the Administration who are agitating for this result.

After the genocidal murders and atrocities of 10/7, Israel didn’t envision a scenario in which the U.S. would actively stifle its efforts to wipe out Hamas (Biden’s public proclamations of support for Israel having been proven to be utterly worthless and duplicitous), but, sadly and predictably, that’s what’s happening as the Muslim supremacist/Islamofascist lobby in the U.S., aided and abetted by their Dhimmi-crat allies

…spreads a propaganda narrative of hugely exaggerated casualty figures provided by the “Gaza Ministry of Health” (i.e., Hamas), and, plays the well-worn “Palestinian” victimhood card from the bottom of the deck, in a bid to cast Israeli Jews as the alleged bad guys.

This must have triggered some real celebration with the Ivy League faculty folks.

I know it doesn’t follow the Progressive Way Of War (a perversion of the idea of Just War), but here’s how *I* would handle it going forward.

“Everyone of our countrymen should know that I will not allow the country to be held hostage to terrorists and evil monsters waging war on us. I will do all I can to encourage the release of hostages. However, that cannot and will not include stopping or delaying any required retaliatory, punitive, or operational strikes. And if the hostages are killed, then the it will increase the strikes until we feel all of the perpetrators and supporters of this evil machination are destroyed. That will be true whether it means a village is destroyed, a region, or an entire country. I will work on a lot of levels to deal with adversaries of various types. But if you harm my people we will be coming for you. And if you try to take hostages in order to prevent us, we will see that as a sign that you desire no quarter – none will be asked and none will be given. May G-d have mercy on your souls, because we will not.”

Again, we beg the questions Who are the aggressors here? Who are the terrorists? Who is it that are so wuss that they hide behind civilians, the elderly and children?

The Real Truth | December 1, 2023 at 12:07 pm

In my humble opinion, the only good terrorist is a DEAD ONE ! They will keep on murdering, raping or torturing innocent people as long as they are alive. They can’t be rehabilitated.
