Jim Jordan meets the hold outs to convince them and then Gaetz and Co continue to attack and slander them and push them away again.

I see, so this is Gaetz’s fault, who is voting for Jordan, not the A-hole children throwiing tantrums and voting against Jordan.

geronl in reply to Concise. | October 20, 2023 at 11:37 am

They have no reason to do what Gaetz wants. If he and his ilk would shut up a while, Jordan would be Speaker and Putin would be happy.

Concise in reply to geronl. | October 20, 2023 at 11:44 am

Putin? Any other asine democrat talking points you’d like to bring up? How about calling Jordan an insurrectionist? Maybe Trump is an agent of Putin too? What about the Steele “dossier” and pee tape?

So they’re acting like spoiled brat children who are stopping Congress from investigating Joe Biden, holding up funding for Biden’s wars, and potentially forcing a government shutdown.

Why are you for all of this? Just tell your Leftist Republicans to fall in line so Jim Jordan can do the government’s business!

The neocon establishment types can’t bear the thought of less $ for the Military Industrial Complex and will happily demand Ukraine fight to the last man for a conflict fomented by feckless neocon foreign policy errors.

Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…Russia…I didn’t think I would ever have an opportunity to say that again yet here we are!

His chat with America was spot on and with humility…anyone attacking him have shown their subversive snake underbelly that is beholding to The Swamp Club and foreign interests.

Not that I have any faith that the Republicans are a real opposition party to the Democrats; but I am getting more and more sure that this is going to end up with either a Democrat Speaker for a Republican majority House, or a “compromise bipartisan” Speaker who is a Democrat in all but name.

Also noting that one real worry that I have is the condition of Biden, the incompetence of Harris, and that the Speaker of the House is next in line of succession after them if something happens. . . as war clouds gather.

If Gaetz and Co. can refrain from attacking and pushing people away, Jim Jordan would already be Speaker. Jordan owes Gaetz a punch in the face.

Concise in reply to geronl. | October 20, 2023 at 11:57 am

You already ranted about that. Repeating something idiotic doesn’t make it any smarter.

    diver64 in reply to geronl. | October 20, 2023 at 6:47 pm

Are you stupid or just a troll? Goetz and the 8 have already said they are supporting Jordan multiple times. Goetz even said he and the others would take whatever punishment the Caucus saw fit for deposing McCarthy including suspension or being thrown out of the Republican Caucus of those 20 or so midwits would vote for Jordan. Goetz also called out the anonymous vote saying everyone who voted against Jordan should have the backbone to be known and defend their tantrums.

Jordan loses a third vote. There is a pattern developing.

There needs to be a better unity candidate.

Concise in reply to geronl. | October 20, 2023 at 12:01 pm

No, the republican children need to wipe themselves, put on their big boy pants, and vote for Jordan.

      thad_the_man in reply to geronl. | October 20, 2023 at 12:10 pm

Jordan is a unity candidate. Some people don’t want unity.

        chrisboltssr in reply to thad_the_man. | October 20, 2023 at 12:15 pm

Exactly. The Leftist Republicans are being intransigent because they can’t act like Leftist Republicans anymore.

CommoChief in reply to chrisboltssr. | October 20, 2023 at 1:51 pm

Mostly yes. What these.establishment those are really PO about is the unwillingness of the populist bloc to allow them the excuse of an ’emergency’ as fig leaf to hide behind. The establishment goons have used the same play for decades to offer excuses for selling out their constituents; ‘it’s an emergency’, ‘we have to fund the govt’, we can’t get our preferred legislation through a d/prog POTUS’, ‘the Senate won’t accept our bill’.

Without the fig leaf to hide behind they would have to publicly reveal their actual policy preferences for their constituents to see when they join d/prog to support more extravagant Federal spending on boondoggles, grift and graft for the lobbyists who influenced them.

They could still act like leftists, neocon, big spenders but they don’t want to do it in an open way where it can be easily identified by even the dullest tool in the shed.

Have you ever noticed that when the R’s have control of the House there is a call for bipartisanship from D’s and their lackeys in the MSM? When the D’s have control there is no such demand. Funny how that works.

chrisboltssr in reply to Whitewall. | October 20, 2023 at 12:14 pm

Kevin McCarthy lost 14 rounds before becoming speaker.

Might as well elect Jeffries because the way Republicans are acting, they will give the House away.

Not that I have any faith that the Republicans are a real opposition party to the Democrats; but I am getting more and more sure that this is going to end up with either a Democrat Speaker for a Republican majority House, or a “compromise bipartisan” Speaker who is a Democrat in all but name.

how about maxine waters .. o wait
you said comprise not comprised
sorry
/that was sarcasm…

The going gets a little tough and some folks seem to want to give up, quit and make life easier and less confrontational.

It’ll get sorted out and largely be forgotten a year from now when most voters start paying attention. With inflation being sky high, the wide open border and the hot wars, I seriously doubt that voters will be concerned about the Speaker battles of 2023.

Who knows what else will occur between now and then.

    txvet2 in reply to CommoChief. | October 20, 2023 at 4:35 pm

I haven’t a clue what they’re going to try next, but since opposition is hardening, it may take a resignation from Gaetz for starting this whole mess before they all come together and elect a new speaker. I realize you don’t think he’s responsible, but he is – and I’m not referring just to the vote to vacate.

      CommoChief in reply to txvet2. | October 21, 2023 at 8:49 am

Supposedly Gaetz and five others who supported the motion to vacate have offered to willingly accept a censure by the GoP caucus and removal from the GoP caucus. In essence offering themselves as voluntary whipping boys if the liberal/moderate establishment holdouts would support Jordan.

Is Gaetz responsible for offering the motion? Yes. Are Gaetz and the other 7 GoP members and very importantly the 209 d/prog who voted in favor of the motion responsible for their vote? Yes

No argument on those. However, we can’t simply ignore WHY that occurred. To do so is like a shooting occurring and everyone immediately claiming murder and telling us nothing else in the totality of the circumstances matters but the fatal shot.

Losing ground. Per interviews with members, Jordan has been a perfect gentleman about this, but not so much his supporters.

    gonzotx in reply to txvet2. | October 20, 2023 at 2:31 pm

Yes that’s what we need, a perfect gentleman..

How hard exactly do YOU want it?

    Asking for a friend

      txvet2 in reply to gonzotx. | October 20, 2023 at 4:31 pm

Well, since the holdouts have increased to the point where Jordan has dropped out because of the bullying from Jordan supporters, how hard exactly do YOU want it? Asking for myself – I don’t blame my opinions on other people.

      txvet2 in reply to gonzotx. | October 20, 2023 at 4:33 pm

BTW – since YOU aren’t a Jordan supporter, why do you care?

The holdouts are not endearing themselves to their base. I hope folks in their districts melt the phone lines by calling in and telling them to elect Jordan. The whole thing is a colossal embarrassment.

ChrisPeters in reply to Othniel. | October 20, 2023 at 1:02 pm

It also wouldn’t hurt if those Republicans other than Jordan who are receiving votes would publicly reject such votes, and indicate their support for Jordan.

    thad_the_man in reply to Othniel. | October 20, 2023 at 1:17 pm

In Florida, Phil Ehr has announced that he is dropping out of Senate race and is now running against Carlos Gimenez, one of the holdouts. I say keep voting them out. If people just stay firm there are not enough jobs on CNN/MSNBC/universities/think tanks to take them all in.

Every one of the selfish RINO dirtbags not voting for Jordan at this point should be primaried.

    txvet2 in reply to UJ. | October 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Absolutely. That’s how you change the system. Support the candidate of your choice, or run yourself.

PHEW!!!!

It’s a good thing we have the Democrat Party, or we’d have the Republican Party as the worst political party in the country…

If it goes to 100 I won’t be fussed. The one major thing I am disappointed disappointed that Republicans allow Democrats going around and talking of chaos,

You want to know chaos? Watch the question time in the UK Parliament. Watch in various democracy when they fight to form a coalition government, and then call for elections six months later Read about the caning of Charles Sumner.

A bit of chaos is good. It used to be said that families that fight like cats and dogs stay together, but families that were calm tended to end up in divorce.

Not that anything will be done to those who took the illegal donations….

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/10/exclusive-13-22-rino-holdouts-derailing-jim-jordan/

Fking Republicans can hold it together.
Bet the Democrats could, and get the so call independents and Marxists to go along.

So they dropped Jordan. Do they really think there’s anybody else who can put together 217 votes?
