Starbucks Faces Boycotts After Barista Union Showed Support for Hamas

Starbucks threatened to sue the union. It knows it will hurt business: “This matter must be resolved immediately. If it is not, we will seek all appropriate legal relief, including without limitation monetary damages.”

Starbucks Workers United, an affiliate of SEIU, tweeted support for Hamas when the terrorist group invaded Israel, slaughtering over 1,200 people.

The account deleted the tweet, but the internet is forever. Thanks, New York Post!

The union’s chapters in Boston, Chicago, and Iowa showed support for “Pro-Palestine” rallies.

SEIU president Mary Kay Henry tweeted:

Starbucks immediately distanced itself from the union’s views: “We unequivocally condemn acts of terrorism, hate and violence, and disagree with the statements and views expressed by Workers United and its members. Workers United’s words and actions belong to them, and them alone.”

The company stressed that it does not share the “views, positions or beliefs” of the union and SEIU.

But Starbucks has also threatened to sue the union:

But Starbucks says it vehemently rejects the union’s support for Hamas and is now demanding Starbucks Workers United “immediately cease and desist” from using the company’s name and logo. Starbucks said the union’s statements “advocat[ed] for violence” and caused “irreparable harm” to the company.

“Starbucks does not support your organization’s position,” Starbucks counsel Rocky C. Tsai wrote to Lynne Fox, the international president of Workers United, which oversees the Starbucks union. “This matter must be resolved immediately. If it is not, we will seek all appropriate legal relief, including without limitation monetary damages.”

Starbucks is not stupid. The big guys know people will associate the union with the store. It could face a lot of financial harm.

The Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce (OJC) boycotted Starbucks but wants others to do the same:

It is with a heavy heart that the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, along with our esteemed partners, calls for a widespread boycott of Starbucks. We also implore all the groups that have previously demonstrated their concern by boycotting Budweiser to once again stand united in boycotting Starbucks and show their solidarity for the value of human life. Your voice, combined with ours, will send a strong message against the normalization of violence and hatred.

Let us all take a moment to reflect on the choices we make and the implications they carry. When we sip on a Starbucks coffee, should we not be aware of the possibility that we may be unknowingly consuming more than just a caffeinated beverage? Furthermore, can we truly separate the taste of our coffee from the painful imagery of innocent lives lost and the solidarity expressed by those serving us? The very thought leaves a deep, unsettling unease in the mind and heart.

Please join us in raising awareness about this distressing issue. Share this Boycott with friends, family, and coworkers, urging them to reevaluate their choices and consider the implications of supporting Starbucks. Together, let us make a resounding statement against the indifference displayed towards the loss of innocent lives and demand accountability from corporations whose workers actions align with those who perpetrate such horrific acts with its workers using the brands name to send a message to the entire world Via the vast reach of Starbucks a leading business in commerce to support barbaric murder of innocent civilians.

    Is it really a Boycott?

If workers anywhere say they are OK with Rape, Murder and Hostage taking of people they believe are Colonizers, believe them.

If those workers feelz that I might be a Colonizer, that would make it OK to poison my kid’s food/drink.

Not a boycott. Just risk adverse.

Yup, too late as I’m old enough to remember when Starbucks was all onboard with BLM who are all in with the baby murdering terrorists.

So many reasons to boycott starbutt.
Bad coffee
Crappy attitude of servers
Idiotic prices
Idiotic politics…,,,,,

Starbucks seems to be looking for ways to put itself out of business.

RTFA. This time it’s not Starbucks, it’s their employees trying to put themselves out of jobs. Unfortunately for Starbucks, you can’t boycott the baristas without boycotting the store. But if I was addicted to overpriced burnt coffee and could not find a different vendor, I’d stop giving tips – or is that even possible anymore?

Quite likely, it’s the idiot wokesters the Starbucks employees sort-of elected to run their union that made that statement without any consultation with the employees – and their jobs are likely to survive massive losses and layouts of the actual workers. If the employees like their jobs and their tips, they need to take actual control of an election and fire the idiots.

I hate this term ‘Islamophobia’. Can I not fear Muslims without it being irrational? Their holy book commands them to subdue or kill me and their adherents take it seriously.

Meanwhile, Biden speaking in Israel, claims Palestinians are innoccent bystanders, that they do not support terror.

Except that when Hamas returned home to Gaza after their muderous raid into Israel killing over 1,300 Israelis and bringing hostages with them, Palestinians celebrated. They carried Hamas on their shoulders. They held up their cell phones and took pictures. They danced in the streets.

Palestinians hate Jews with a passion. Even if they leave Gaza and move to America, they bring their hatred with them. And children of Palestinian immigrants born here, like Rashida Tliab, hate Jews.

The company has been disgusting for decades, but it is what it took to maybe wake the low IQ.

Are none of you paying attention?

Starbucks is NOT supporting Hamas.

The union, forced upon them by the left and leftist politicians IS.

Starbucks is suing that union.

Don’t boycott Starbucks, boycott SEIU baristas.

What does that meant? Buy their coffee but don’t tip the servers?

Dolce Far Niente in reply to Azathoth. | October 18, 2023 at 11:22 am

Silly thing to say. How exactly do you propose to boycott the baristas? Not allow them to write your name on the cup? No tipping? Ask for a non-union employee to serve you?

No, boycotting Starbucks is the correct answer. The fact that an uber-woke company is getting bit in the ass bythe actions of their even-more-woke employees is hardly a tragedy.

By not giving a unionized store your money. Only a fraction of Starbucks locations are unionized. In my state, it’s only a single store in Albuquerque.

But here’s the problem with that. How do you know which barista is SEIU? How do you know that some racist or antisemitic barista isn’t going to decide you look Jewish or have a Jewish sounding name and poison your coffee or add something disgusting to it?
Starbucks is now known to hire antisemites who are secure enough to proclaim their antisemitism. Why would Jewish people ever feel safe drinking Starbucks coffee ever again? Why would anyone?

This is the same problem with employees at Whole Foods wearing BLM clothing. How does a White person feel safe buying food from them ever again?

Best just to avoid them entirely and go somewhere where the employees don’t feel free to proclaim they hate you because of your race or religion.

I don’t need to be Jewish. Just “look” Jewish or like a Colonizer (which is what some call all caucasians).

I’m not boycotting Starbucks. I am avoiding a place that is OK with ANY employee that feelz that way.

I wonder if more or fewer people that share the unions opinion will now look for employment at Starbucks. I would bet more.

It’s just easier to make remarks about places the comment makers have never been, and say clever schoolyard names like Starbutt.

I’ve been going there off and on for a long time. ONE rude server. NEVER talked to about race or politics. ALWATS for good service.

This is a union issues. SEIU is a lousy bunch of communists and if traveling, I will make sure I stay out of SEIU infested businesses if at all possible.

They all benefit from Starbucks privilege

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to Azathoth. | October 18, 2023 at 4:02 pm

    Fk Starbucks.

They lie in bed with liberals and follow every left wing demand. Now, because their employees lie in bed with murderers and rapists, they want to distance themselves from the very people they employ.

Wear a MAGA hat? Get the fuxk out of our store!

Wear a police uniform? Get the fuxk out of our store!

Carry a concealed weapon? Get the fuxk out of our store!

Be a conservative? Get the fuxk out of our store!

Don’t support Black Looters Matter? Get the fuxk out of our store!

Don’t support Antifag? Get the fuxk out of our store!

But now that their almighty God, the dollar is at risk, please please please don’t go! It’s not us!!!! It’s the baristas!!! It’s the Union!!!!

The damned employees are the same people who hate conservatives.

Let the stores close. Be gone Starbucks.

Except that all in with terrorist supporting BLM thing

Do a story on al-Dura. The hospital hoax is no less damaging. Pallywood is disinformation at it’s most deadly.

Interesting. I can remember the usual suspects calling out for twenty year sentences, felony convictions, no-fly lists, and permanent loss of any job for people who did literally nothing more than stand on the grass outside of a public building and wave a US flag. Now when these same usual suspects go out and advocate for mass-murdering terrorists, they are simply aghast that they might be chastised in the least for their actions.

Yeah events come at us fast and these lefty ideological hacks never think they can will caught up in their own rhetoric or have the standard they proclaimed used against them. In fairness, the lefty ideologues have mostly gotten by with it historically. In recent years they have been not only called out on their obvious hypocrisy but been met with pushback at the grassroots level to varying degrees of success. This Cray Cray ‘support Hamas’ crap is another bridge too far just like trans ideology seeking to groom and mutilate children.

The so-called union represents a tiny fragment of their workers.

I would boycott Starbucks, but, um, I never go there.

Once upon a time there was a coffee shop who falsely cried, “there are dangerous racists in the store!”

Pleased with the attention they did it again, and again “there are dangerous racists in the store !”

Then one day there were dangerous racists and the store cried “there are dangerous racists in the store!”

They closed down in SF because homeless junkies destroyed the restrooms and scared away customers.

Some convenience store coffee is far better anyway

As are many “coffee hut” private-owned drive-thru

And half the price

Forget Starbucks, with Bidenomics their $5 cup of coffee is no more for me.

I didn’t even no Starbucks made coffee. And which Starbuck is it by the way? Is it Dirk Benedict or is it the chick from the Sci-Fi series? And if it is the chick can I watch her belt Colonel Tigh again again?

Starbucks baristas are wretched. I don’t want some white person with dreadlocks and nose jewelry handling my coffee.

I’ve only been to starbucks twice. Once in the airport in Denver when I couldn’t find anywhere else to get coffee one late evening on the way home and once in London because it was early morning and it was the only place open. London was in 2004 and it was the last time I went to starbilks.
Hard to boycott some place you never go to in the first place.

I have been a Starbucks customer for 40 years, but recently cut back by 90%+ because their prices finally got too high. The coffee is high quality, but it finaly dawned to me that I was foolish to pay $4 for something I roast and brew myself for a quarter.

That said, it is stupid and unfair to blame them for the idiocy of a make-believe “union” that “represents” hardly any of their employees. Where I live the Starbucks employees are not freaks at all. I actually miss them, but it’s overpriced.

One would think that the Starbucks Union, SEIU, and Starbucks would have a clear understanding of their area of expertise and not officially comment on things well outside their competency.

I recognize that these matters are also well outside the competency of Tony Blinken and Joe Biden but this is their job.
