Stanford University Instructor Suspended for Allegedly Separating Out Jewish Students and Calling Them ‘Colonizers’

Is there something in the water at Stanford? This spring, students at the school shouted down a federal judge.

Now an instructor at the school has been suspended for allegedly singling out Jewish students, separating them from the rest of the class, and calling them colonizers. And this happened just after the Hamas attack on Israel.

This problem in higher education is obviously much bigger than most people even realized.

FOX News reports:

Stanford instructor benched after ‘identity-based targeting of students’ on heels of Hamas terror in Israel

A Stanford University instructor is sidelined for “identity-based targeting of students” as the school probes a situation that caused “serious concern” on the heels of the brutal Hamas terror attacks in Israel…

Forward, a nonprofit news organization that covers “issues, ideas and institutions that matter to American Jews,” spoke with Rabbi Dov Greenberg, director of the Chabad Stanford Jewish Center about the ordeal. Rabbi Greenberg said he was told by three students that the instructor asked Jewish and Israeli students to identify themselves during an undergraduate course called “Civil, Liberal and Global Education.”

Greenberg told Forward that the teacher then told the Jewish students to take their belongings and stand in a corner because “this is what Israel does to the Palestinians.”

“The instructor then asked, ‘How many people died in the Holocaust?’ When a student answered, ‘Six million,’ the lecturer said, ‘Colonizers killed more than 6 million. Israel is a colonizer,’” Forward reporter Beth Harpaz wrote.

“He’s saying Israel is worse than the Nazis and Hamas is innocent. This is what Jewish students face at Stanford and other places. They’re feeling isolated, under attack and threatened,” Greenberg told Forward.

Greenberg also told Forward that impacted students were scared to speak up out of fear they would be penalized.

Just stunning.

Stanford has released a long statement, but this is the part that directly addresses this situation:

We have received a report of a class in which a non-faculty instructor is reported to have addressed the Middle East conflict in a manner that called out individual students in class based on their backgrounds and identities. Without prejudging the matter, this report is a cause for serious concern. Academic freedom does not permit the identity-based targeting of students. The instructor in this course is not currently teaching while the university works to ascertain the facts of the situation.

The events that have unfolded on campuses across the country this week have been enlightening, and not in a good way.

Jews are literally indigenous to the area, which makes it impossible for them to be colonisers in the land they come from.

Interestingly enough I had an exchange about this very item with a friend who is a raving liberal (a Real Life ™ friend who I’ve known long before FB and social media rared its ugly head).

He tried to make the claim that Judaism, Christianity and Islam were indigenous to the land. I pointed out that Islam is not indigenous to Israel having spread out of Saudi Arabia in the 6th century nearly a thousand years after Judaism established itself in Israel.

About 30 seconds after that the entire thread on his FB page was deleted.

The other thing that stood out was the outright racism by the other leftists that joined the argument. Just showed their true colours.

The action is right out of the Nazi playbook from the 30’s.

The other thing is the bit about colonizers. The Islams were the ultimate colonizers, either you converted or died or became a secondary citizen.

Jewish people entered the holy land known as Judea in 1250 BCE. The Muslim religion started in 610 AD

“Greenberg told Forward that the teacher then told the Jewish students to take their belongings and stand in a corner because “this is what Israel does to the Palestinians.””

They should have responded with violence and said, “That’s what Palestinians do.”

Sixty million people died due to WW2. Yet, all we hear about is the exactitude of this small subset.

True enough. Far more Russian POWs died than Jews. But, Jews were singled out for their religion, not politics and the 6 million represented a far greater proportion of the Jewish population than the many Russians.

My father and and his co-prisoners hid the Jewish identity of a stalag-mate for over a year to keep him safe. The hatred was extreme and rampant, but postwar it seems that only Jews have been portrayed as victims in popular culture.

Probably because they were singled out for extermination EVERYWHERE the Nazi’s went and they were singled out solely because they were Jews.

Kind of like what Hamas and Hesbollah and the Palestinian people want to do the exact same thing with every single Jew they can get their hands on, after they’ve fucked them, irrespective of how hold they are.

Jews were not singled out for their religion. The Nazis didn’t give a **** about religion. The singled out the Jews for nothing more than being Jews. It didn’t matter what religious beliefs they held, if any. In previous persecutions by Christians, Jews could escape by changing their religion; this time they couldn’t. The majority of victims had no religion, and a significant number had religions other than Judaism. They were targeted only because they were members of the Jewish race. To the Nazis this proved how modern and scientific they were; they were the “party of science”.

        Mulhouse,
I hate to tell you but “Jews” share a common religion and it is the only thing that separates them from others. Living in the South my entire life, I have never understood the hate generated to these people by folks that see them as different. But it is a phenomenon clearly evident in those north of Richmond.

          Milhouse in reply to david7134. | October 16, 2023 at 1:17 am

David, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Jews are not a religion, we are a nation that has a religion, but one that most of our people don’t believe in or practice. I regret this, but it is so. That doesn’t make them any less Jewish than those of us who do.

Being a Jew has nothing to do with what you believe. It’s like being a US citizen; anyone born a US citizen, or naturalized, is a citizen no matter what they think of the USA, its founding documents, or its central values. And foreigners do not become citizens merely by believing fervently in those documents and values; they can become citizens only by being lawfully naturalized by someone authorized by law to do so. Any flaw in the naturalization, however technical, invalidates it.

There is a rather important distinction between people who died because they were in the military, people who died because they were civilian “collateral damage” associated with military operations and people who were murdered by intentional direct action by national forces. It was not only Jews who were interned in the camps and were introduced to a quick death by Zyklon B and other means (e.g. shooting at Baby Yar) or a drawn out death by lack of nutrition, disease and overwork in the camps. I once had a parish Priest who was a Chaplain in the Polish Army in 1939. He was on the Eastern front facing the Red Army and when his unit was overrun he joined others in returning home. He was arrested by the Gestapo a couple of weeks later and spent the war in the camps, mostly Auschwitz. He obviously survived and held that his leaving for home in the Western part of Poland saved his life. Had the Red Army had him as a POW his body would have been found, along with nearly 22,000 other Polish Officers and intelligentsia members executed by the NKVD, buried in the Katyn Forest with hands bound with wire and shot in the back of the head.

The Jews were rounded up and murdered because they were Jews. Likewise the Roma (aka Gypsies). The NKVD murdered Polish Officers, Priests and other “intelligentsia” members because Stalin believed they were Polish leaders and a threat to his plans for a Communist Poland.

When Jewish service members were captured by the Nazi’s they were equally subject to the same range of horrendously inhumane treatment that was applied to Jews, gypsies and others. That’s why they hid it from the Nazis.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to E Howard Hunt. | October 14, 2023 at 2:27 pm

Like so many things, it is the per capita rate of death, Jews suffered disproportionately.

Milhouse in reply to E Howard Hunt. | October 15, 2023 at 8:12 am

People die in war. But the Holocaust had nothing to do with the war. The Jews did not wage war against Germany; until the Germans started killing them they had no ill will to Germans, and in fact had warm feelings toward them. So the Germans had no reason at all to harm the Jews; they did it purely out of hatred. That makes it very different from the casualties of war.

      david7134 in reply to Milhouse. | October 15, 2023 at 5:18 pm

Those persecution of Jews by Germans is far more complicated than near hate. Best to read up on the subject.

        Milhouse in reply to david7134. | October 16, 2023 at 1:22 am

It was pure irrational hatred and nothing else.

There wasn’t even any reason why National Socialism had to involve Jew-hatred. Italian Fascism didn’t. Nor did Spanish fascism. Had the Nazi Party offered the Jews friendship rather than death, it’s likely that most Jews would have supported Germany in WW2, remembering how friendly the Germans had been to them in WW1. As it was, it was at first difficult for Jews to believe the rumors they were hearing about German atrocities against them, since it was so out of character from what they remembered. I know of people in my family who had a chance to flee into the USSR and decided not to, because they knew what the Soviets were like and couldn’t believe the Germans could possibly be worse.

Rational thought and logical expression seems to be diluted by emotional wails of the least-impacted.

What he said comes out of the hatred in his heart. Furthermore, when dealing with racists I have found that if they hate one race, they hate others.

As a society, we may be nearing the point when universities are so corrosive to our culture, we would be better served by repurposing the real estate they inhabit into something more productive, like farmland…or recycling centers.

They need to lawyer up and sue Stanford for all they can get. Make these leftist administrators pay up big. In the end, this is all that matters to these phony overprivileged pompous virtue signaling jerks who are destroying education in America.

    mailman in reply to paul1. | October 14, 2023 at 1:25 pm

Yes! Absolutely sue their arses odd because can you begin to imagine the outrage if a white professor made black kids stand in a corner as punishment for something a black dude did somewhere else totally unconnected to the kids??

Leftists would get all Palestinian and start exploding everywhere! 💥

LAWSUITS, LAWSUITS, LAWSUITS: These events have created a “hostile environment”, and the schools have allowed that hostility to flourish. Many of these events are being put on by official student organizations which receive funding from the school–which means tuition money and taxpayer money (both for public schools and through government-backed student loans.)

The feds use student loans as an excuse to tell colleges what to do. Hillsdale intentionally avoids federal meddling by refusing to accept student loan money. So, shouldn’t that also work in favor of the anti-genocide faction? If the government can tell colleges what to do, then isn’t NOT telling them to rein in pro-genocide events also an obligation? DOE Secretary Cardonas needs to be sued for lack of action.

I’m sure the response will be, “The Executive Branch is (suddenly and uncharacteristically) powerless to regulate in the absence of explicit laws from Congress.”

We need aa follow up in a week. Is this guy back to teaching? Fired? Thrown out of school?

“…made Jewish students stand in a corner…”

Uh, wot? ‘Made.’ Are not these people adults with middle fingers, and voice to express a loud “FOAD” to this Negro who graduated in all things Negro?

I’m all for making the rubble bounce and hamas no more in this world, but I grow a bit weary of ‘muh perpetual jewish victimhood’ from Jews.’ Come on, man.

Soon to follow a night of broken glass?

We call that Tuesday in Portland. On a plus note, more and more people are starting to notice that the graffiti seems to be 90% confined to properties ripe for redevelopment, and there is a growing awareness that much of this is false flag efforts by real estate developers to lower property values. Ditto with shifting the homeless into camps in front of desired proerties to put them out of business.

Obviously a Cultural Marxist

The timid response by university administration nearly uniformly across academia to this sort of crap is an intolerable failure. In public universities the State legislatures must use their power to ensure that this cowardice or in some cases agreement is severely punished. Ordinary voters gotta apply the pressure hard enough and consistently enough to put some backbone into the usual go along/get along attitude. Same for alumni in withholding contributions. Apply consequences.

Well, like it or not Hamas’s invasion of Israel and their murder, rape and torture has brought the worms out from hiding. Now we know who is who.

Stanford is woke trash dumpster fire.

It is the Arabs who have no historical presence in the region prior to the Muslim conquest.
