Poll: Majority of Muslim Americans Say Hamas Attack On Israel “Justified”
“A majority of Muslim-Americans agree that Israel has a right to defend itself, but in stark contrast to other demographic groups, a majority disagree that Israel should invade Gaza, and a majority agree that Hamas was justified in its attack on Israel.”
The images and reports are still coming in two weeks after Hamas, along with some Gazans, flooded into Israel to slaughter, rape, torture, and kidnap innocent citizens. It’s not at all surprising to learn that Americans, overwhelmingly (more than 80%) support Israel.
It’s heartening that those who side with these vicious barbaric actions against peaceful private citizens of one of our nation’s strongest allies are being called out and forced to face the socially and morally unacceptable nature of their siding with terrorists over America’s allies. There is one segment of the American population, though, who—by a solid majority—say the attack was justified: Muslim Americans.

1. Joe Biden and the leader of the terrorist organization Hamas have similar unfavorability among Americans. While Muslims have a higher view of the leader of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority that Jews or other Americans, they have almost as equally as high a view of Israeli PM Netanyahu.
2. Hamas is largely seen as about the same as Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and ISIS (60% about the same among each), while roughly a third say Hamas is worse than the other three terrorist groups. Muslim-Americans tend to agree, though they slightly over-index for saying Hamas is not as bad as each of the other three terrorist organizations.
3. A majority of Muslim-Americans agree that Israel has a right to defend itself, but in stark contrast to other demographic groups, a majority disagree that Israel should invade Gaza, and a majority agree that Hamas was justified in its attack on Israel.
4. On the topic of the level of aid the U.S. should provide for Israel, a majority agree that the U.S. should stand strongly with Israel, the U.S. should provide financial support, and that Iran should be held accountable for the actions of Hamas against Israel.
5. The general population is largely split on whether the U.S. should directly engage its military to support Israel. There is also nearly even agreement and disagreement for whether support for Israel is more important than support for Ukraine.

Probably some Christians in there, but it seems American Muslims with no stake are the bigger haters, and Israeli Arabs appreciate their environment.
That’s good, but 34% supporting Hamas is still very bad.

Tlaib, yes. She comes from a District with a very significant Muslim population. Ilhan Omar, OTOH, comes from a District that is 63% white. While ‘Little Mogadishu’ is in her District, the reality is that District has been in Democrat hands for at least a half-century. Prior to Keith Ellison winning there (he held the seat immediately before Omar), it was held for at least 30-years by Martin Olav Sabo, a Democrat-Socialist member of Congress, son of Norwegian immigrants. No Republican challenger facing Sabo won more than a third of the vote. The reality is MN has been one of the most left-leaning states in the nation because Norwegian immigrants and their offspring have had a longtime love affair with socialism.
The evidence seems to prove you right. Even though I myself am descended from Norwegian immigrants. (But my Mom married a solidly Republican man!). The Balkans are diverse. So is Lebanon. Look at the Ukraine. Part of Greater Russia for two hundred years. Only ever independent since 1991. Never before then. Or look at the Basques of northwest Spain, or the Catalans in the east. Our society worked because we demanded assimilation, so that second generation immigrants were homogenous with the rest of society. Now we’re diverse. That is not likely to work long term.
We did not demand assimilation from German-Americans, who continued to speak German as their primary language for centuries, until WW1 when they suddenly came under intense persecution and had to learn English.

So when they say Israel has the right to defend itself, they mean purely defensive measures like Iron Dome, or shooting at terrorists who are actively attacking at that very moment. Not offensive measures like bombing missile launching sites, let alone going after the commanders who order those missiles launched, or the people who are making the missiles and bombs, etc.

Not just US governments. It’s all any government or legal code has ever allowed any individual, at least in what we call civilized societies. Individuals are allowed to defend themselves from imminent danger, but not to wage war; nations are allowed to wage war, and war is fought on the wholesale level, not the retail, i.e. it’s fought against entire nations rather than specific individuals.
But even the individual right to defend oneself and others includes the right to take out missile launch sites that are currently being used against one, or that are imminently going to be, even if there are innocents in the area.
This is why letting Muslims come to America was a bad idea.

That would be unconstitutional. Once someone is in the country they are entitled to the equal protection of the laws, which includes due process and the first amendment.
The courts have held that people who are neither US citizens or residents, and nor physically in the USA, are not protected by the constitution. (They may inherently have all the same rights as US people, but a US court has no authority to give those rights effect, so as far as US law is concerned the rights might as well not exist.)
