New York Judge Issues a Gag Order After Trump Attacks Court Clerk Online

New York Judge Issues a Gag Order After Trump Attacks Court Clerk Online

The gag order forbids all parties from attacking the court staff.

Judge Engoron issued a gag order on all parties involved in Trump’s New York fraud case. It only bars them from going after the court staff.

Trump attacked Engoron’s law clerk Allison Greenfield in a Truth Social post, calling her Chuck Schumer’s girlfriend.

Engoron did not name Trump by name, but the order happened after he after he made the post:

“This morning one of the defendants posted on social media account a disparaging untrue and personally identifying post about a member of my staff. Although I have since ordered the post deleted and apparently it was, it was also emailed out to millions of other recipients,” the judge said in court.

“Personal attacks of any member of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate and I will not tolerate them,” the judge said.

The judge then said all parties must not speak publicly about any members of the court staff.

“Consider this statement an order forbidding all parties from posting emailing or speaking publicly about any members of my staff,” Engoron said. “Failure to abide by this .. will result in serious sanctions.”

I cannot find the post on Truth Social. I looked up the Instagram account, but she made it private. I do not know if she did that today or it’s always been private.

Duh. He’s a defendant, too. The gag order also applies to him.

How about telling the judge to pound sand. Trump up some sort of charges of NYC leaders. More that one party can play the game.

      Milhouse in reply to JohnSmith100. | October 3, 2023 at 8:19 pm

Unfortunately you can’t ignore a court order, even if it’s blatantly unconstitutional. You have to go to a higher court to get it overturned.

And this is unconstitutional; court staff are not special, and can’t be immune to criticism.

MarkS in reply to Milhouse. | October 4, 2023 at 7:33 am

you most certainly can ignore an unconstitutional gag order,. Do it and force the judge’s hand and then appeal it and have the judge disqualified

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to MarkS. | October 4, 2023 at 8:24 am

Love to see Little Donnie ignore a Judge’s order. Then he’ll be in contempt of court and this Judge no doubt will throw Donnie’s hind end in jail until he promises to obey all of the court’s orders constitutional or not.

P.S. You don’t get to “appeal” a court order. It is what it is and that’s the end of it.

Milhouse in reply to MarkS. | October 4, 2023 at 10:21 pm

No, you can’t ignore an unconstitutional court order. You have to obey it anyway. Break it and force the judge’s hand, you may get the order overturned but your penalty for contempt will stand.

Crawford in reply to Milhouse. | October 4, 2023 at 8:25 am

Of course you can ignore court orders. The Democrats do all the time.

All bets are off if you happen to have a handful of SS agents with automatic weapons at the ready if that poor excuse for a judge decides to send out a couple of unmotivated police officers to enforce that gag order.

Milhouse in reply to George S. | October 4, 2023 at 10:23 pm

Assuming you meant the Secret Service, they will not break the law for Trump. They are not under his command, and if the judge orders him arrested they will bring him in.

What do you mean? Be explicit. For a change.

Like Tater Salad said, “I have the right to remain silent but not the ability”. That is Trump in a nutshell!

Do you really think that insulting everyone involved with his trial is good policy? Are you that stupid? If you were facing a judge tomorrow would you call him names and then insult his chief of staff? Do you remember the rape case where they didn’t get him on the rape charge but on defamation? Would you have learned a lesson from that? I didn’t belittle anyone, all I said is that he doesn’t have the ability to keep his mouth shut when it might be in his best interest. Where in the hell did you get Russia involved? Go back to your comic books and leave this site to adults.

        JohnSmith100 in reply to inspectorudy. | October 4, 2023 at 6:29 am

Stupid comment, this judge is already doing everything possible to harm Trump, I see nothing to lose from tarring and feathering the court.

that would certify the judge’s bias

Crawford in reply to inspectorudy. | October 4, 2023 at 8:27 am

The “defamation” was his denial of the rape the jury found never happened. He (correctly) called her a liar, but the jury couldn’t let him leave without punishment.

inspectorudy in reply to Crawford. | October 5, 2023 at 11:53 am

No, you’re wrong. He called her all kinds of names in public. I would have done the same thing myself but that isn’t very smart. He called her a lot more than a liar.

artichoke in reply to inspectorudy. | October 4, 2023 at 8:43 am

The “palling around”, presumably true, is surely the result of some good sleuthing work by Trump’s team. Well done! I’m glad it got out and that the story, via the judge’s overreaction and the Streisand Effect, is going viral.

Stuytown in reply to inspectorudy. | October 4, 2023 at 9:36 am

And this is why Trump shouldn’t be the Republican nominee for President.

“Do you really think that insulting everyone involved with his trial is good policy? Are you that stupid? If you were facing a judge tomorrow would you call him names and then insult his chief of staff?”

Trump is not facing a judge. He’s being attacked by leftist activists.

“Do you remember the rape case where they didn’t get him on the rape charge but on defamation? Would you have learned a lesson from that?”

The lesson to learn is that these people should not just be ignored, but retaliated against. They found him not guilty of the crime in question, but guilty of calling the person THEY DECLARED to be falsely accusing him of being a liar.

This is not law, It is not justice. It is not sanity.

” I didn’t belittle anyone, all I said is that he doesn’t have the ability to keep his mouth shut when it might be in his best interest.”

Acquiescing to the demands of your enemies while they are attacking you with intent to destroy you is NEVER in anyone’s best interests.

Easily the dumbest thing I’ve read all week, maybe all month (and I spend time on Twitter/X, so you know the level of stupid I read): “Trump is not facing a judge. He’s being attacked by leftist activists.”

inspectorudy in reply to Azathoth. | October 5, 2023 at 11:57 am

None of your comments make any sense. I said that if you are facing any judge it might be in your own self-interest to keep your mouth shut. Trump has spent a lot of money and time trying to defend his insulting remarks and shows no sign of learning anything. All of you he-men who think standing up to a leftist judge is noble, put yourselves in that position and see how you feel then. Thank God for Trump that this is a civil trial and not criminal.

Not sure if you can detect your useful idiot status by looking in a mirror, but I suspect you might find the answer if you look hard enough.

Gee, what a surprise. Little Donnie’s chidlish, kindergarten playground insults have gotten him a gag order from the court. I’m sure it’s only the first of many as this case works it’s way through the court.

So I guess you’re a fan of the fascists that love to censor people who disagree with them?

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Ironclaw. | October 4, 2023 at 6:46 pm

No, not a “fan of the fascists that love to censor people who disagree with them”. Not at all. Just commenting on Little Donnie’s total inability to keep his mouth shut even when doing so is in his best interests. And how that inability will result in many “gag orders” being issued by the Judge.

inspectorudy in reply to Ironclaw. | October 5, 2023 at 12:10 pm

Always the insults follow if anyone points out one of Trump’s glaring faults. My God, can’t you people see any flaws that could be fixed to help him win? He is a flawed man just like all of us and some of us are trying to put pressure on him to modify his ways. I don’t want Biden for 4 more years but Trump is not speaking to the center of the voting public. He is speaking to his base and they aren’t enough to win. There are 33% of you who will vote for Trump no matter what he does or says. There are 33% of Biden voters who will vote for him no matter what he does or says. That leaves 33% of the center who are looking at both of them plus RFK. Trump has to address that middle group or he will lose. You magas may not think his “Mean” tweets are a big thing but his overall actions are and they are not well received by the middle. He already has you but he needs them to win. That is my point about showing a little restraint.

      “Try that again.”

Why try again? It doesn’t make the point any less inane.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Azathoth. | October 6, 2023 at 10:43 am

Why try again? It doesn’t make the point any less inane.

What point would that be, exactly? That Little Donnie needs to learn that under some circumstances it would be in his better interest not to be making these childish, kindergarten playground insults? That doing so is not going to help his position with the court?

“I have the right to remain silent but not the ability”. And that is Little Donnie to a tee. He knows darn well he should just shut the eff up at this point. But his ego will simply not permit him to do so.

So he mouths off at his peril. Because if he pisses off the Judge with his continued nonsense he could find himself in a jail cell for contempt. And that’s certainly not where he needs to end up, that’s for sure.

He ain’t gonna date you sweetie 😂😂

The outraged people are the middle of the country voters and most of us grew up and stopped name-calling and insulting people we had to deal with. They may not be a big deal to you but it is an indication of the mental level of the person who issues the mean tweets that is important. A 78-year-old man who calls men and women insulting names for their looks or family? Only on a schoolyard do you normally hear such crap.

A gag order in a fixed case. As if it matters? Why was this person hanging with Schumer while the trial is happening. Appearance of impropriety?

It gives those with TDS something to gloat over, or be triggered.

You are just like the msm and are running with a story that you haven’t a clue about. There is no TDS here. It is the magas who have no tolerance for any unkind word about their God.

Trump knows he’s lost this case already. The out is that the judge is making so many reversible mistakes that it will be tossed out. So it’s a political opportunity, is all.

The whole Trump family should not go to NY without a small army.

Be nice if someone in authority would take just a little notice of the corrupt political motivations underlying this legal abuse and do some real investigations.

E Howard Hunt | October 3, 2023 at 6:21 pm

Here’s how Trump can comply with the gag order.

When court reconvenes he should approach the judge and invite him to smell the flower attached to his lapel. When the judge noses in, then Trump presses his flower squirter and splashes the judge right in the puss. “Well judge, you did give me a gag order.”

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to E Howard Hunt. | October 3, 2023 at 6:49 pm

The downtick is in error. I meant to uptick.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to E Howard Hunt. | October 3, 2023 at 7:01 pm

More like the judge should face charges in another state, and be bundled up and hauled to that jurisdiction, tossed into jail, and held for at least 2 years. While that is going on all her assets should be seized and liquidated. This should be repeated until they are cowered. We really need to change our approach.

      Mauiobserver in reply to JohnSmith100. | October 3, 2023 at 9:02 pm

Maybe he owns property in Florida.

If so then he is probably guilty of Rico charges. Put him in jail for a couple of years confiscate all his property then schedule a trial.

Matter of fact use this on any Dem who either has property or business interests in a red state.

This would certainly be a case of equal justice under the law.

What kind of clerk was it. A law clerk, ie someone who rights the opinion for the judge.

Or is it a legal clerk, the kind that writes part of the opinion and does research for the judge?

Interesting and here I thought Gag Orders and the like were meant to protect the integrity of the trail, not to spare the overly sensitive feelings of the court staff.

    Milhouse in reply to Gremlin1974. | October 3, 2023 at 8:22 pm

Yes, that is true. Gag orders are constitutional when they are necessary to prevent polluting the jury pool; they are not constitutional when they’re merely intended to shield court staff from legitimate criticism — and the court does not get to decide what is legitimate.

Well now I am even more interested to know what she was doing palling around with Chuck Schumer.

Milhouse in reply to artichoke. | October 3, 2023 at 8:23 pm

artichoke in reply to Milhouse. | October 3, 2023 at 10:13 pm

The gag order disposes me to think there’s something to Trump’s comment. Usually when he says something, there’s a reason that may or may not ever be disclosed. He’s less of a liar than many other bigtime politicians.

Crawford in reply to Milhouse. | October 4, 2023 at 8:32 am

“Liar” — he says things you don’t want to hear.

Those are two separate observations. Trump is a liar. He lies constantly, and we all know it. He also says things that are true that some people don’t want to hear. These are not, however, the same things, as you must know.

Milhouse is correct that Trump is a liar, and anyone who claims otherwise is either himself a liar or so drowned in the Trump koolaid they are excusing downright lies as just part of his “personality” or as representative of some kind of a true lie, felt truth, or whatever (the same kinds of things Democrats say to excuse Biden’s constant lies, actually).

inspectorudy in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | October 5, 2023 at 12:27 pm

Of course, he is a liar. In his pre-courtroom speech the other day he said Mar-a-lago is worth 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS! No realtor in FL would agree with that stupid statement. It only hurts his case to be such a liar and he shows no ability to learn from past mistakes. Every time he mentions the polls instead of saying that he leads by 40 to 50 points over DeSantis, it’s always 50 to 60 points. He lives in a BS world and that is who he is. I can live with that and vote for him but it doesn’t help him with fence-sitters who believe facts matter.

Azathoth in reply to Milhouse. | October 4, 2023 at 10:01 am

” Trump is a liar; we know that. ”

      We do?

It seems that the bulk of the sewer dwellers of the world have been trying to catch him in some kind of lie for decades.

And they always seem to be left grasping at straws.

Yes, Trump is a liar. He said he couldn’t fire Fauci, and while he may not have been able to actually fire Fauci, he certainly had the say on who sat on his covid advisory board, no? He could have kept Fauci in some cage somewhere, no? Heck, he could have just followed his own instinct to “open by Easter” and told Fauci to go pound sand. But he didn’t. To this day, he insists everything he did was perfect. You buy that? Because I know it’s a LIE. Related to Fauci, Trump claimed that he didn’t know who awarded Fauci the Presidential commendation (that Team Trump actually bragged about in an ad, no less!).

Trump lied about DeSantis’ response to covid, he falsely claimed that Cuomo did better on WuFlu than DeSantis did. Let that sink in. Cuomo oversaw the intentional (could it be anything else?) infection and death of thousands of New Yorkers. But Trump swears it was Cuomo who did better? Trump implied that Ted Cruz’s father killed JFK. Trump lies about his own record, about other people’s records, and about stuff that doesn’t even matter at all. He’s a lying liar who lies. All the time.

Trump lied about pretty much everything in his campaigns, and we know this because he literally said, “that’s just the campaign,” it’s different now (that he won in 2016). What was different? He won. Before he won, he was lying to you people, LYING, and after he won, he admitted as much by stating on numerous occasions that “that’s just the campaign.” You are a sucker for believing his lies, lies he gloated about telling to win the election!

Trump is a liar. He lies, knowing he’s lying, and then shuts down his adoring base with crazy touchy feely crap like he just wants Hillary to heal, and you guys lap it up. So pathetic.

Azathoth in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | October 5, 2023 at 4:35 pm

What do I mean when I use the term ‘sewer dweller’?

          This–

“Yes, Trump is a liar. He said he couldn’t fire Fauci, and while he may not have been able to actually fire Fauci, he certainly had the say on who sat on his covid advisory board, no? ”

Fuzzys says, openly, that Trump couldn’t fire Fauci. And calls him a liar for saying he couldn’t fire Fauci.. And then she suggests madness like, and I quote’ “He could have kept Fauci in some cage somewhere, no? ”

So committed to the TDS that they are utterly blind to how they sound.

          And poor Millhouse–

“Yes, we do know Trump is a liar. It’s extremely easy to catch him in a lie; about as easy as it is to catch Biden in one. Like Biden, he’s been caught in hundreds of lies.”

          —.yet you couldn’t cite ONE.

          blinded.

Guys, you HAVE to stop this. You just look crazy.

Milhouse in reply to Azathoth. | October 4, 2023 at 10:31 pm

Yes, we do know Trump is a liar. It’s extremely easy to catch him in a lie; about as easy as it is to catch Biden in one. Like Biden, he’s been caught in hundreds of lies.

That doesn’t mean he was lying in this instance. He does sometimes tell the truth, and this might be one of those times. There’s no way to tell.

Isn’t this exactly what they are doing to Trump? The major difference is he has to pay for those lies that slander him. Hiding behind the court yelling nany nany boo boo!

This judge doesn’t need to issue gag orders. I say the video of him mugging for the camera so I have already gagged.

All you defending the Judge on this, what exactly was the insult? Calling her Chuck’s ”girlfriend”? The story is that she is friends with Chick Schumer. Which is exactly what he said.
That’s not an attack, it’s a statement of fact. Just because the judge and prosecution don’t want the truth about their political connections public doesn’t justify gaging the defendant from saying it.
