Netanyahu: ‘We are Preparing for a Ground Incursion’ Into Gaza to Destroy Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reassured the nation that they are still preparing for a ground incursion into Gaza.
Early reports indicated Israel agreed to delay an invasion to allow the U.S. to establish more defense systems to protect the troops. At least 13 attacks have happened against American bases in the region.

Netanyahu says we “are at the height of a fight for our existence.” He says the two aims are to destroy Hamas and to get the hostages back. Netanyahu says that all Hamas members “are dead men walking.”
Netanyahu says the cabinet is operating “without political considerations.”
He says Israel is getting ready for a ground operation, but will not share when or how. He also says he will not share the range of considerations involved.
“We are preparing for a ground incursion. I won’t specify when, how, how many. I also won’t detail the range of considerations, most of which the public is not aware of. And that’s the way it is supposed to be. This is the way, so that we protect our soldiers’ lives.”
The war cabinet and chief of staff unanimously decided when the invasion would occur.
Netanyahu promised that Israel “will extract the full price for those murderers… from Hamas-Daesh.”

I’m sorry but I do not think a ground invasion of Gaza makes sense. I know of no other way to accomplish what their aim is but the mortality of the IDF soldiers is going to rise rapidly. This will make Fallujah look like a cakewalk. I too want the monsters killed and hung for all to see, but the Israeli soldiers are going to pay a very high price for this revenge. The one freed hostage said the tunnels under Gaza are like a spider’s web there are so many. Can you imagine the traps that can be set with the aid of these tunnels? Booby traps? Everywhere. Every room in every building must be individually inspected. Bombs are going to be everywhere and the killing and aiming of the soldiers is going to be terrible. I say push all of the people out and then flatten the entire city. No boots on the ground.

The tunnels will be the escape for Hamas and also their avenue of attack. The IDF does not know where all of the entrances and exits are and an attack may come after they have cleared an area. A-10s are of no use in CQB and will kill more than they intend. This a giant wood chipper and anyone who goes into it will be trapped. Remember Fallujah and how horrible it was? well, imagine that but many stories high with a tunnel complex under it. Talk tough all you want but when they call your name to go, then the rubber meets the road.
Suggested tactical modification of your plan. Israel enters Gaza and if Hamas chooses to fire on them, the building fired from is not entered but destroyed. Short advance notice of this plan is made through MSM and leaflets dropped. “Hamas you choose.”
Identify the tunnel entry and exit points and seal them. Fallujah was a tough battle but we won it (despite all the nonsensical press hysteria). We were even outnumbered. Let the IDF take its time on this one.

“Invasion” might imply the aim of taking over the land and kicking out its current inhabitants.
“Incursion” means a temporary situation where you go in, break a bunch of stuff, and then leave — with the promise to come back and do it worse if there is a “next time.”
