Media, Leftists Furious That Men Identifying as ‘Non-Binary’ Crashed a Woke Women’s Tech Conference
“Yesterday it became clear that there are a far greater number of cisgender men than we anticipated. Simply put, some of you lied about your gender when you registered.”
Back in July, a women’s tech organization that promotes “intersectional gender equity in technology” announced they were getting ready to open up registration for the annual Grace Hopper Celebration conference, which they scheduled for the end of September.
In their announcement, the AnitaB.org group stressed their devotion to wokeness by noting that the event would be open to “women and non-binary technologists”:
AnitaB.org, the leading global nonprofit organization committed to promoting diversity, inclusivity, equality, and belonging in the technology ecosystem, is thrilled to announce that registration for the highly anticipated Grace Hopper Celebration 2023 (GHC 23) will open on July 18. The Celebration, recognized as the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists, will start with GHC 23 Open Source Day (OSD) on September 22, held online for all GHC 23 attendees. GHC 23 will be held in-person in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center and offered virtually from September 26-29, 2023.
“The Way Forward,”—the theme for GHC 23—acts as a powerful rallying cry for the industry to improve the state of intersectional gender equity in tech and to create a future that is more inclusive and equitable. This message signifies the collective efforts and determination of attendees to drive progress, inspire innovation, and shape the direction of technology while also encapsulating the urgency and importance of driving positive change in the tech sector.
The conference did indeed kick off on September 26th, but it didn’t take long for the women in attendance to notice that there were an awful lot of men in the building who were standing in the long lines alongside the women to speak to recruiters:

The “invasion” of men at the GHC 2023 was such a hot topic of conversation that AnitaB.org’s Chief Impact Officer, Cullen White, addressed the audience about the issue:
Organizers for the conference addressed the unfolding situation multiple times throughout the four day event. “Yesterday it became clear that there are a far greater number of cisgender men than we anticipated. Simply put, some of you lied about your gender when you registered,” Cullen White, Chief Impact Officer at AnitaB.org, said in a plenary at the conference. “We need male allies. We need men who want to celebrate women, who want to work with and for women. And so we welcome men in this space, but to learn and support and improve,” he said, adding that men have been taking academic tickets and spots in recruiter lines. “So let me be perfectly clear: Stop. Right now, stop.”

AnitaB.org advisory president Bo Young Lee also expressed frustration over men allegedly identifying as non-binary in order to attend the conference and allegedly take opportunities from women:
Bo Young Lee, AnitaB’s advisory president, posted a video on LinkedIn on Friday in response to the criticism. She said the event had always felt like “a safe and loving and embracing” place in the past.
“This year, I must admit, I didn’t feel this way,” she said. “And I know that many of you felt the same. Many of you are feeling unsafe, physically, and psychologically, and you’re feeling unheard.”

In reality, the “outside world” did not in fact “creep in.” This was the very type of world these people have worked to create with their emphasis on acceptance of men who identify as women or non-binary into women’s spaces, like in bathrooms, dressing rooms, locker rooms, and women’s sports leagues:

As an actual woman who competed for years in a “man’s” profession where women are now treated as full equals, the mere existence of a “Woman’s Tech Conference” at all is an affront. There is absolutely no difference between men and women and the use of tech as a professional tool. Or much of any other scenario for that matter. I was directed to the “Wives Luncheon” for years, waving my hand at poor little conference workers saying “Nope, I belong in there with my peers, thanks.” You become to be accepted as a peer with men by acting like a peer. Good grief.

Agreed. Every female attendee and every event organizer who created this event needs to decide what their priorities are. If it is creating and maintaining exclusive sex based events then do that. Just make it Cis gendered Female only. That would upset the extremists among the alphabet people as well as align with the viewpoint the ‘evil GoP voters’ on this issue. So what are the priorities of these folks? Either be exclusive to biological women and keep all the shenanigans at bay but be labeled as trans phobic bigots OR make it open season, come as you are where attendees can be whatever floats their boat based on their temporary self declared category. How do they tell the difference between a man and a woman if they aren’t biologists?
After all, the concept of gender fluidity and non-binary identity doesn’t necessarily except those who identify as women, even while waking up in the morning to scratch their balls.
If I refuse to accept that a man with a penis isn’t a woman, I am some kind of bigot. If these women refuse to accept that the multitude of attendees identifying as nonbinary with a penis, why aren’t they considered bigots?
What should be concerning is the number of attendees who seek to take jobs from Americans, and erect barriers to entry once there.

This is going to be one of those times where people react and make statements for the moment which will come back and haunt them for the rest of their short careers.
Now the fun part begins. What “unconstitutional” measures will they try to put in place in order to maintain their segregated conference. Because employment is involved, they have already lost, and were I a guy in the tech field I would be filing my lawsuit today in order to be first in line. What is amazing is that they got away with it after the first time.
Also a bit ashamed that I didn’t get into popcorn futures a few years ago. It has almost become a staple in my diet.
I don’t think it’s correct that “because employment is involved” they’re covered by the anti-discrimination laws. They’re not employing anyone. (Of course they do employ a small number of people, and in that they can’t discriminate against men, but we’re not talking about those jobs.) People who come to the convention in order to find jobs are not their employees, so they’re allowed to discriminate. Unless you call it a public accommodation, but I don’t think that applies here.
Perhaps they should simply eliminate the “and non-binary technologists” from the description and make it a women only conference. That would solve the problem and I think it would avoid any constitutional problems.
But of course then all those “non-binary technologists” would have a fit over being excluded from the conference.

Their own rules REQUIRE that they unconditionally accept ANY man claiming to be a woman, because they have no objective standard for determining who is a ‘real’ transgender and who isn’t.

The “truth of their mission” is active discrimination against straight white christian conservative men. They try to sell it as everything else, but that is the truth. What has them most upset is that they were forced to deal with reality on a level playing field when their entire conference was designed to make it sloped in their favor. Just like the anti-racists, their concept of “equal employment opportunities” means that men can’t apply. If they wonder why more women aren’t present in the tech fields, perhaps they might want to start with that particular failure at application of logic.
I’ll add that it’s fun watching these internecine conflicts and fissures in the Dumb-o-crats’ tent get exposed.

What I want to know is how do they know that so many of the allegedly non-binary attendees are actually cis men? Not, as most commenters have asked, how they can say it without breaking their own rules, but seriously, how did they decide this? How do they know all these people are not genuinely non-binary? Unless the non-binary world is so small that they all know each other, or so small that they know there couldn’t possibly be as many as showed up.
What if they held a job fair for everyone (since it appears more employees are needed) and they hired those deemed the best qualified and the most likely to help the companies succeed. Nah, that would never work.
