German Government ‘Rebukes’ Elon Musk for Criticizing State-Funded NGOs Helping Illegal Migrant Cross Mediterranean

German Government ‘Rebukes’ Elon Musk for Criticizing State-Funded NGOs Helping Illegal Migrant Cross Mediterranean

Musk: “Sounds a lot more like human trafficking than saving lives.”

Tech billionaire and Twitter/X owner Elon Musk earned the wrath of the German government and state-controlled media for highlighting the nefarious role played by country’s NGOs in promoting migrant trafficking in the Mediterranean Sea.

Commenting in a post on Friday, Musk asked if the “German public [is] aware” that NGOs funded by their own government were behind the massive migrant wave that is presently sweeping the shores of Italy.

“Yes. And it’s called saving lives,” German foreign ministry self-righteously responded on X.

Replying to another post about the massive maritime operation run by state-funded German and other European NGOs, Musk quipped that it sounded “a lot more like human trafficking than saving lives.”

The Associated Press summed-up the online spat:

Germany’s government rebuked X owner Elon Musk after he criticized the recent work of migrant rescue ships that German humanitarian groups operate in the Mediterranean Sea.

Musk late Friday shared a video that showed migrants and aid workers on a boat. The right-wing account that first put the content on X, formerly known as Twitter, praised the populist far-right Alternative for Germany party, which has taken a hard line on migration issues.

“Is the German public aware of this?” Musk wrote in his repost.

The German Federal Foreign Office replied to Musk directly on X, writing: “Yes. And it’s called saving lives.”

Musk responded that he doubted the German public supports the actions of non-governmental organizations that take asylum-seekers from unseaworthy vessels in the Mediterranean. He also asserted it was “surely” a violation of Italy’s sovereignty for German-operated ships to bring rescued migrants to Italian territory.

“So you’re actually proud of it. Interesting,” he wrote to the Foreign Office, adding that he thinks such maritime operations have “invasion vibes.”

Musk’s postings angered many in the EU establishment, with some demanding more censorship and regulations on social media.

New evidence of collusion between NGOs and human traffickers

While the German foreign ministry claims that NGOs are “saving lives,” newly released documents expose large-scale collusion between these state-funded groups and human traffickers in North Africa.

“Investigation shows evidence that some NGOs are working with people smugglers and employ tricks to cover up the cooperation,” the German weekly Focus reported Sunday, citing newly uncovered documents and video evidence. “Sicilian prosecutors believe that systematic rescue operations conducted by the NGOs near the coast of Libya make the smuggling business easier,” the magazine added.

Musk angers Germany’s state-run media

Germany’s state-run ZDF TV accused Musk of sharing talking points of the German opposition AfD party.

“Tesla founder and billionaire Elon Musk used his online platform X (formerly Twitter) to interfere in German politics a week ahead of  the elections in the states of Bavaria and Hesse,” the broadcaster complained.

“Musk shared a post of an X user, who is critical of immigration, asking people to vote for the AfD and criticized German migration policy,” the state-controlled news outlet added. Musk’s “posting on X criticizes the fact that eight German ships belonging to non-governmental organizations are currently taking in refugees and migrants from the Mediterranean in order to bring them to Italy.”

The German state media has long been critical of Musk, who refuses to submit to the globalist woke agenda. “Elon Musk spreads misleading statements about the climate statements,” German state TV DW reported in July. “Twitter owner Elon Musk has publicly rejected the irrefutable effect of farming on global warming. Concerns about growing misinformation on the powerful social media platform is on the rise.”

With the German political establishment fuming over Musk’s comments, support came from Germany’s AfD party, which is currently surging in polls in the wake of the new migrant crisis. Party leader Alice Weidel slammed the German media for downplaying the migrant influx and flooding the airwaves with the alarmist climate agenda.

The axis between these NGOs and human traffickers has created a perfect migrant storm on the coast of Italy. Tens of thousands of illegal migrants have swarmed the Italian island of Lampedusa, reducing the native Italian population to a minority within the span of a few weeks.

Something that can’t go on forever … won’t.

Elon simply pointed out that the greatest threat to the German people is the German government. Most of us in the West have the very same problem with our respective governments….

“Saving lives” by encouraging and enabling aliens to undertake perilous and dangerous sea voyages overseen by organized crime gangs?

As. Lt. Commander Spock would say, that contention is “highly illogical.”

The EU just now publicly launched its censorship progrom to limit opposition political speech. Of course it’s not called a censorship progrom. This new progrom enlists and partners leftist media like Politico EU and AI groups to dredge social media for unapproved speech.

Vera Jourova calls the upcoming use of AI powered censorship during the elections a “stress test.” That’s what she called it. Online gaming developers often talk about stress testing servers for code and compatibility quality assurance.

The immediate targets being Poland and Slovakia and Hungary.

The EU is beta testing its evil new AI.

Is there a way to turn off iPad autocorrect? I spend more time fighting autocorrect than composing a comment – and it still defeats my corrections of its corrections.

      Found it.

Dump Apple, that is what I did in the early 90s, and I was writing corporate specs, I blackballed Apple acrost 15 divisions. Apple greatly lowered support costs by intentionally limiting product capabilities.

I checked this iPad out from the local library. All of the library iPads (58) are brand spankin’ new.

I’m a Apple noob and am only now getting accustomed to it.

“Musk’s postings angered many in the EU establishment, with some demanding more censorship and regulations on social media.”
Just once, Musk should call the bluff of at least one of these assholes, and just shut X completely down in their country. Then issue a press release: “If you want it turned back on, let know at .”

The EU is dominated by Germany due to their economic/financial power. The current Italian govt isn’t doing what the EU wants re accepting waves of illegal immigrants. The German govt is funding ‘NGO’ (though once a private entity begins taking $ from the govt they ain’t exactly a Non Governmental Org anymore b/c the $ talks and the $ comes with strings) These govt funded ‘NGO’ then assist in the recruitment and transportation of mass groups of illegal immigrants to Italy as punishment, at least IMO.

Musk pointed this out and the current German govt is pissy b/c the political opposition has been gaining steam by making this same sort argument with elections on the horizon. Eff them if they believe their policies are a force for good then what’s wrong with spreading the word about how much ‘good’ they are doing? Perhaps it’s b/c they know their policies are BS and that if enough voters figure out the scam then their hold on power will be taken away or at least restricted.

What’s funny is that Germany’s economic and industrial clout is undeniably diminishing and is poised for minuscule growth, thanks to Merkel’s and her successor’s closure of nuclear power plants and other assorted and self-destructive “green” policies, driving the cost of energy through the roof.

CommoChief in reply to guyjones. | October 2, 2023 at 8:53 am

Yep. The foolish embrace of grid level ‘green’ energy well before it was ready for Primetime coupled with choosing to remain dependent upon Russia for cheap Nat gas, diesel and oil has set them up for failure.

FWIW Russia recently announced no diesel exports which comes after they and Saudi cut an additional 350-500K bpd of oil production on top of OPEC existing OPEC production cuts. Russia is poised to make a higher profit on oil exports since the ‘sanctions’ were imposed than before.

” (though once a private entity begins taking $ from the govt they ain’t exactly a Non Governmental Org anymore)”

I think that’s the entire dogwhistle semantics behind NGO. There are millions of orgs not receiving money from the government. But nobody calls them NGOs, they’re just Os.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | October 2, 2023 at 8:56 am

IMO all NGO should be run on private donations and be bared by statute from accepting govt funding whether a grant, a contract for services or otherwise. The first $ of govt funding should automatically convert them out of their tax status and into a C corporation with all the pain that brings.

Italy should just load all the migrants on to trains and send them to Italy and post military to prevent their return.

Hopefully Greece and Spain (after gal elections) will do the same.

“Here’s @elonmusk spreading support for the extreme right AfD.
No illusions what role he’s planning on future elections: actively undermining democracy.”

Is “democracy” the new word we’re using now to mean socialist tyranny?
Sorry, I guess that was a stupid question.

The EU Council through the use of the EU Commission control Europe, not Germany. Parliament may hem and haw a bit over trifles, but pretty much rubberstamp Council-commission policy measures. Parliament codify what the Council desires.

The process may seem German controlled by design, but decisions are simply EU consortium-based marxist doctrine overlayed by a democratic front. Of course the Germans have weight to throw around, but what about France? No matter what happens, France will never cede any of her power to Germany.

Musk’s Twitter coup monkey-wrenched an important pillar of the EU-US conspiracy to control public speech. He knew exactly what he was doing, and knew he would end up as political lightning rod.

NGO’s should never get government funding

henrybowman in reply to geronl. | October 2, 2023 at 12:20 am

But then… how would governments commit the necessary fascism?

Milhouse in reply to geronl. | October 2, 2023 at 3:10 am

Huh?! You can’t possibly mean that.

tyrfing in reply to Milhouse. | October 2, 2023 at 6:48 am

The idea is that a “non-governmental” organization that receives government funding becomes influenced by the government – and hence should be known as a “governmental” organization.

Many of these NGOs get most of their funding from the government. It’s easier to get a few grants than to do fund-raising from individuals.

Milhouse in reply to tyrfing. | October 3, 2023 at 2:28 am

Take the example of the Salvation Army — an NGO that receives a significant part of its budget from the government, and is free to do things that the government can’t do, such as deliver an expressly religious message to inspire the people it helps to better themselves.

Does geroni seriously think the nation would be better off if the Salvos were banned from receiving government funding?!

Unbelievable! The AfD’s top candidate for next year’s European elections has just been revealed as head of a long-running Chinese influence operation.

I bet Elon is crying in his soup over the German’s being mad at him.

Not.

Now I understand why they haven’t impounded those boats, which should have been a gimme.

If the real NGO”s goal was to save lives, they should return the illegals to the nearest shore and then go to save other illegals.

Can you imagine the disease, crime and chaos that is landing with these illegals, and if this is a positive move why is the German government concerned about their people knowing o f their “good works.” seems to me that this support is something they need to emphasize in their political campaigns.
