If you missed his comments, you can see them here.

Prof. Russell Rickford initially refused to apologize and defended his comments.

Now so much heat is on him, he has issued an apology.

From the Cornell Sun:

RICKFORD | A Statement Regarding My Actions From Oct. 15

I apologize for the horrible choice of words that I used in a portion of a speech that was intended to stress grassroots African American, Jewish and Palestinian traditions of resistance to oppression. I recognize that some of the language I used was reprehensible and did not reflect my values. As I said in the speech, I abhor violence and the violent targeting of civilians.

I am sorry for the pain that my reckless remarks have caused my family, my students, my colleagues and many others in this time of suffering. As a scholar, a teacher, an activist and a father, I strive to uphold the values of human dignity, peace and justice. I want to make it clear that I unequivocally oppose and denounce racism, anti-semitism, Islamophobia, militarism, fundamentalism and all systems that dehumanize, divide and oppress people.

Sounds like it was written by a damage control firm. If it “didn’t reflect my values”, why did he say the words?

Apology not accepted.

Kindly go ahead and f—- right off.

Read between the lines of this patter
In response to his hair-raising chatter
He picks up some new words
Like a battlefield sword
And his message is clear: “All Lives Matter”

“Activist” is part of his identity, how he thinks of himself. That tells you all you need to know. He doesn’t identify as a rational, moral individual, he identifies as an “activist.”

Fuck you, professor. You meant everything you said. You thought you could get away with it because you thought you had cover.

You thought wrong.

If he retains a job, then we will see the selective enforcement nakedly that we all expect.

His apology also left out one -ism to denounce and that’s terrorism.

Too little, too late, too fake.

When did places like Cornell start offering FACULTY APPOINTMENTS to such full-grown children

Hey Cornell — you are aware, are you not?, that you’re not running a K-5 grade school?

His father was a tenured Stanford linguistics professor. The father-son team wrote a book about “Black English.” He later went on to get a PhD in Black Studies from Columbia. I am sure that affirmative action did not play a role in his appointment or award of tenure.

Apologizing when forced due to public pressure doesn’t mean squat. Too late, terrorist sympathizer

How many days did take for Pollack to call him out?.
How many national papers and media carried this as lede?
Now the administrators release that the Infidel Prof. is “currently reviewing it consistent with our procedures,”. It should be termination documented even if in the fine print of any standard contract. No significant act goes unrecognized. He wanted to vent and he got his audience, only it was much larger then a patch of grass outside a Campus class room. He wanted the stage and added the theatrics to put it across. He went for stage presence and he got recognition. The results were of his own making which now he claims that is not who he truly his…yet…as they say actions speak louder than words. Yet he was able to incorporate both. No way should he be able to walk this back as ‘miscue’.

This is not an apologgy or a critique of the actions of Hamas-he should be fired

“I was just kidding.”

Useful idiots such as this arschloch will be the first to either kneel down or be shot down if Iran and Hamas have their desired ‘victory’

Apologies are like assholes. Everyone always has one at the ready and both produce the same thing.

Note that virtually none of these awful people stick to their guns once called out.
