The Biden Administration Marked 9/11 by Celebrating a Deal With Saudi Arabia and Giving Iran $6 Billion

“The White House commending the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the anniversary of 9/11 while the Kingdom is still actively fighting the 9/11 families & survivors in federal court is something….”

While Joe Biden observed the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 in Alaska, as physically far away from New York and Washington, DC as possible, his administration marked the day by celebrating a deal with Saudi Arabia and giving $6 billion to terrorism sponsor, Iran.

Optics are really not their strong point.

FOX News reports:

Biden admin strikes deal with Iran to swap prisoners, release $6 billion in frozen funds

The Biden administration has struck a deal with Iran to swap prisoners and release $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds.

Per the deal, Iran will release five American citizens detained in Iran and the U.S. release five Iranian citizens being held in the U.S.

The deal creates a blanket waiver to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money from South Korea to Qatar without fear of violating U.S. sanctions. No money is going directly to Iran and no U.S. taxpayer funds are being used.

The United States classifies Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed off on the deal late last week, but Congress was not notified of the decision until Monday, the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to the notification, which was obtained by The Associated Press.

White House National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson tweeted about the Saudi Arabia news.

This article in Newsweek makes a good point about the Saudi Arabia news:

This year, Biden became the first president to bow out of participating in any 9/11 memorial events. The president did deliver remarks honoring the lives lost in the 2001 attacks from Anchorage, Alaska, later in the afternoon and made posts to social media accounts remembering the 2,977 deaths.

“On 9/11. During the first presidency to not commemorate this day at a 9/11 site. I cannot even understand this,” Democrat Lindsey Bolan wrote in response to Watson’s tweet.

Some users on the social media platform called the spokeswoman a “disgrace,” while others called the timing “tasteless,” “unbelievably tone deaf” and “politically inept.”

“The White House commending the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the anniversary of 9/11 while the Kingdom is still actively fighting the 9/11 families & survivors in federal court is something….” political strategist Brian Walsh tweeted.

Survivors and the families of 9/11 victims are still fighting a long-running federal lawsuit in New York to hold the Saudi government responsible for the attacks. For 15 years, the lawsuit had been blocked because of the “sovereign immunity” protection for foreign governments in court. Congress cleared the way for the lawsuit in 2016.

Could they possibly be any more tone deaf?

It boggles the mind.

Question to Mr. 10%:

How much of the $ 6 billion will be given to Palestine Liberation Organization to fund terrorism?

Half of it has been earmarked for flying lessons for young able bodied men looking for adventure.. They had originally planned to give more but it was reduced by half since they didn’t need to learn how to take off or land the plane—just fly.

It’s Iran’s own money that’s just being unfrozen.

Aside from that 9/11 is a commercial profit center (even here! a clickbait headline via virtue signal) and ought to be dropped.

What about the release of five Iranian prisoners in U.S. custody? A ridiculous and unnecessary sweetener.

Iran is an enemy of the United States, and whether we realize it or not, it is at war with us.

When you are at war with another country, if you happen to capture one of its weapons depots, you do your best to keep it from returning to that enemy’s possession. This is applicable to the money that has been released to Iran.

The Biden regime doesn’t even realize that China is an enemy of the United States and that we are at war with China so why would you expect them to realize that Iran is an enemy of the United States (and chief funder of terrorism in the world to boot) and that we are at war with them.

Giving the arsonist back his gasoline. Returning the money means one less leverage point against Iran (finally) going nuclear, Iram has attempted to launch missiles from container ship and they all fail around 100 miles up….. if you think that is a good outcome… think again.

It still is illegal without the consent of Congress. One more little item to add to the impeachment total.

      Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | September 13, 2023 at 6:37 am

I don’t think it is illegal, since the money isn’t going directly to Iran. But since money is fungible, that makes very little practical difference. Assuming Iran would have spent this amount of money, over the course of time, on food and medical supplies, etc. it can now spend this money instead, freeing up the other money to fund terrorism and kill US servicemen.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | September 13, 2023 at 6:41 am

Yes, it’s Iran’s money, which is frozen for a very good reason, and it’s the height of irresponsibility and lack of patriotism to unfreeze it.

The money this frees up, which would otherwise have been spent on food, medical supplies, and the other benevolent purposes to which this money must be applied, will go to buy bombs and bullets to kill our servicemen and those of our allies, as well as civilians, and to wage war on us and our interests in other ways.

>>. . . celebrating a deal with Saudi Arabia and giving $6 million to terrorism sponsor, Iran.

Is that correct? I was under the impression that the United States is releasing $6 BILLION to Iran along with five Iranian nationals for the release of five Americans held in Iran.

$6 Billion to Iran who supplied money, equipment, training and personnel to help kill US servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Remind me how much emergency aid/assistance the folks in Lahaina HI received.

A “decent interval” of 21 years. Heck. Only about four years after Germany stopped gassing gypsies, defectives, Jews and Slavs, we were buying their VWs, Rolleiflex and Leica cameras, and made them an ally.

The Iran deal is one thing. But I really can’t show any outrage over Saudi Arabia. There are dozens of incidents and dozens of reasons indicating it was unreasonable for the past 40+ years of presidents — Democrat and Republican both — to continue to fete Saudi Arabia publicly as the “#1 BFF of the USA.” And we all know why they did it — oil.

Biden’s unique malignancy is his habit of impoverishing the US by destroying the legacies of all former presidents that enriched it. His perpetuating their unanimous hypocritical idiocies is regrettable, but hardly enraging.

If Qatar gives this money to Iran why aren’t they on the “state supporters of terror” list too? For that matter, why aren’t they on the list now, for money laundering in Qatar banks?
