Kamala Harris Gushes Over Pennsylvania Implementing Automatic Voter Registration

Kamala Harris Gushes Over Pennsylvania Implementing Automatic Voter Registration

23 states plus D.C. has this system. Does it shock you that most of the states on the list are blue? I’m not.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced the state will automatically register people to vote:

Pennsylvania will now have automatic registration for eligible voters when they renew or receive their driver’s license or ID at a PennDOT or photo license center.

Shapiro announced the rollout of automatic voter registration in the commonwealth Tuesday morning. Under the measure, residents have to provide proof of identity, residency, age and citizenship when renewing their licenses – the typical personal information required to register to vote.

“When running for governor, I made a commitment to bring automatic voter registration to Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said in a statement, noting it was National Voter Registration Day. “Automatic voter registration is a commonsense step to ensure election security and save Pennsylvanians time and tax dollars.”

Did you know 23 states and Washington D.C. have automatic voter registration? I did not.

I’m not shocked to see that most of the states are blue.

Oregon started the trend in 2015.

In a visit to Pennsylvania, Vice President Kamala Harris gushed over Shapiro’s move. She pushed others to join:

“For everyone who has not yet registered, please use the celebration of today as a way to get registered,” Harris said during an event at Reading Area Community College.

On the third stop on what’s billed as a “Fight for Our Freedoms” college tour, Harris told an audience of mostly students and young adults, “Don’t let anything get in the way of your leadership.” She also praised Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro’s announcement earlier Tuesday that the state’s transportation department would be implementing automatic voter registration when would-be commonwealth voters get driver’s licenses and state IDs.

“I also want to give a shout out to the governor, because today they have announced that if — when you renew or when you apply for your driver’s license or state ID — you’re automatically registered to vote. So let’s make sure that we let everybody know,” Harris said.

But Pennsylvania Republicans criticized Shapiro. I think they’d have a problem with it no matter what, but our border being open causes more problems:

“Voting is a right for properly documented citizens of our state, and with the flood of people crossing our open borders under the Biden Administration, we must be able to ensure those who participate in our voting process are who they say they are,” Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward, Majority Leader Joe Pittman and State Government Committee Chair Cris Dush said in a statement. “Unfortunately, this move by the governor generates more questions than answers and creates uncertainty for Pennsylvania voters. More importantly, it does little to promote free and fair elections.”

Well, of course she did. They can’t depend on actual live humans casting votes, Right?

I wonder how many Democrat votes are just cast without the voter even knowing.

    The dead never know

randian in reply to MarkS. | September 20, 2023 at 7:16 am

Not just the dead. Cast votes for live voters who you think won’t cast a real ballot. People complaining they couldn’t vote because a vote had already been recorded for them was reported a lot in the 2020 election.

MattMusson in reply to randian. | September 20, 2023 at 8:50 am

You can buy daily feeds from the election boards of everyone that has not yet voted. You create mail in ballots for those people and drop them off in drop boxes.

        It’s not rocket surgery.

Concise in reply to geronl. | September 20, 2023 at 8:26 am

The real insulting joke about this is that it hinges on getting an ID, which is what democrats have always claimed (and will continue to do so thanks to the magic of hypocrisy) that IDs were too onerous a burden for voters and infringed on the right to vote. Of course the burden on the inconvenienced illegal voter is more than likely lessened considerably because I suspect no real proof of citizenship will be required. Probably just check a box or nod yes if asked.

I don’t see how we vote our way out of this

This is why D strategists no longer care about polls or the opinions of voters.

D’s have figured out how to control the ballots.

The starting point for this is to have tens of thousands, or more, registered voters than actual voters. The more the better.

You can’t manufacture fraudulent votes on a large enough scale to reverse election results without a large pool of registered voters that you know do not actually vote.

randian in reply to Aarradin. | September 20, 2023 at 7:18 am

You can’t manufacture fraudulent votes on a large enough scale to reverse election results without a large pool of registered voters that you know do not actually vote.

Sure you can, if you don’t mind reporting more votes then registered voters. Happens a lot in black districts in Florida.

If there were an actual election day when people vote in person, this might be workable. In the age of mail-in ballots, drop boxes, and harvesting, basically the end of trustworthy voting in PA. Congratulations to the democrats on destroying democracy. That was quick.

All you need is a Soros-backed governor.

      txvet2 in reply to Tel. | September 19, 2023 at 11:45 pm

Or, as in Arizona, a Democrat Secretary of State overseeing a governor’s race where she’s a candidate.

        Milhouse in reply to txvet2. | September 20, 2023 at 12:42 am

So who should oversee a race in which the SoS is a candidate? Including races for SoS, when the incumbent is seeking reelection?

Stuytown in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 1:23 am

          Someone else.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 1:41 am

Who, exactly? Supervision of elections is the Secretary of State’s job.

It’s not as if the AZ SoS was personally overseeing the race. She had responsibility for it, because she was the elected official whose job the constitution makes it. The department did the actual supervision, just like always, and it answered to her. So if you think that races in which the SoS is a candidate should be transferred into someone else’s jurisdiction, please specify who you think that should be, and why. And how that person could constitutionally have such responsibility.

Please don’t say that it should be run by the department without answering to their boss, because that is the very definition of the Deep State.

mailman in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 3:49 am

It’s quite simple really, if you have skin in the game the. You shouldn’t have any role overseeing the election you are taking part in. This isn’t rocket science or that difficult to understand.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 7:59 am

So the whole department that oversees elections should give way to some other department without experience in them, just because the incumbent secretary of state is running for something (including reelection).

Again specify which department the election should be transferred to, and should that department oversee only the race in which the SoS is a candidate (whichever race it happens to be), or all the races that year? And what if the incumbent secretary of that department is also running for something?

I really want to know how you imagine this could possibly work, and how such a provision could be written into a constitution.

Because I suspect that what you’re really saying is that it should be left to the professional bureaucrats, who have no agenda but public service and know what they’re doing and don’t need to be responsible to a mere politician. In other words, goo-goo, or as we now call it, the Deep State.

          txvet2 in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 1:24 pm

Somebody honest. Yes, I know, it’s her job, and she could have done it fairly and honestly, or recused herself and/or appointed a neutral overseer.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 10:52 pm

Again, she wasn’t personally overseeing it. She had ministerial responsibility, as the elected official with constitutional responsibility for it. The people doing the overseeing answered to her, and the buck stopped at her desk.

So she did her job fairly and honestly. There’s no allegation that she didn’t. What does “recusing herself” or “appointing a neutral overseer” mean, other than what she already did routinely, by having her department oversee it in the normal way? Unless you’re saying she should have renounced her constitutional responsibility and allowed the people doing the overseeing to act independently and not answer to her? And that is exactly what the Deep State is.

Concise in reply to Concise. | September 20, 2023 at 8:20 am

I should walk back the “workable” comment, or add the parenthetical (with proper safeguards.)
But the whole point of this so-called reform is to eliminate safeguards. What proof of citizenship is required during the license registration process? I suspect the “proof” will be decidedly minimal. maybe just checking a box on a form. Or answering “Yes” when the clerk asks you if you’re a citizen (in whatever language the applicant speaks of course.

Milhouse in reply to Concise. | September 20, 2023 at 10:53 pm

That’s all that’s required when registering to vote too. So this is no different. Again, the point here is not registering ineligible voters, it’s registering eligible ones who won’t vote and can thus be used for fraud.

Concise in reply to Milhouse. | September 21, 2023 at 12:14 pm

I think it’s both. And I don’t believe it’s the same automatic process when registering to vote (although someone should look at their regular process if it is so lax). And this latest scheme has the additional problem of being unilaterally imposed by the governor’s order. This is not a statutory change.

In a twinkling of an eye, we could put voting back at the top of the list for trust. All we have to do is implement photo ID, paper ballots and voting in person. Absentee ballots only for those who request them.

Pennsylvania (like most states) already has absentee ballots only for those who request them. There are very few states where they send you a ballot without being asked, and PA is not one of them. But the point is that requests will be received from these newly registered voters who have no interest in voting. And the ballots will be returned, so they’ll be listed as active voters, and there will be no way to identify them and clean them off the rolls.

Absentee ballots should be strictly limited to the most urgent cases. And we should do like they do in places like Iraq, and make voters dip their fingers in ink that takes at least a day to wear off.

I believe in Israel, they bring mobile ballot boxes to hospital patients, so they can vote in person from their beds, rather than absentee. (Absentee voting in Israel exists only for diplomats stationed in foreign countries.) We should do that here too.

The open border is a red herring. Under this measure only people who are entitled to vote will be registered when they get their licenses or IDs, so new immigrants, whether legal or not, will not be registered.

But that misses the whole point of this. The point is to register a whole lot of people who are perfectly entitled to vote but who have no interest in doing so. That way they will never show up at the polls and find that they’re listed as having already voted. That’s where the fraud is; that is how Democrats have done it for over a century, and this new system makes it easier for them.

This is what I mean when people like Danny ask where’s the evidence of fraud, and I point to things like this and ask, why would the Dems do this if not to enable fraud? The fact that they’re doing this is strong circumstantial evidence that fraud abounds. It’s not even close to the sort of evidence you need to overturn an election result; but it’s enough to show that a close result for a Democrat is likely stolen.

scooterjay in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 4:59 am

Sounds like a good way for Democrats to discourage sending illegals to Democrat states.

Milhouse in reply to scooterjay. | September 21, 2023 at 2:14 am

How so? The more illegal immigrants and other non-voters a state has, the more its valid voters’ votes are worth. The constitution says states get representation for all persons present in the state, including non-voters. So every non-voter in a state adds to the weight of the votes cast by its voters. That’s why the slave states wanted their slaves to be counted in the census, and the free states didn’t, and why they compromised on counting 60% of them.

(No, slaves were never counted as 60% of a person; rather, 60% of a state’s slaves were counted as 100% of a person and the other 40% were not counted at all.)

Automatic voter registration and mail voting is the perfect crime

Democrats are working in Pa to allow illegals driver’s license, 16 states do already

Milhouse in reply to Skip. | September 20, 2023 at 1:46 am

Irrelevant. There is no reason why illegal immigrants shouldn’t have drivers’ licenses, but no state allows them to register to vote. For that matter, every state gives drivers’ licenses to legal aliens, and yet no state allows them to register to vote at the same time. There’s no reason to suppose illegal ones would be treated differently.

The post explicitly says this. “Pennsylvania will now have automatic registration for eligible voters“. Not for anyone else.

Again, the problem with this is not related to the border crisis. This is not about registering ineligible voters, it’s about registering eligible voters who will not vote, and whose votes can therefore be safely used by the Democrats.

Maybe in theory, automatic voter registry will get illegals voter registration, you can’t possibly make me think PennDot employees will follow every rule not to allow that.
And automatic voter registration will put a address to a voter ballot, person moves vote ballots are sent to same old address.

Milhouse in reply to Skip. | September 20, 2023 at 8:03 am

They’re no less likely to follow the rules than any other government department, including the board of elections.

And I have no clue what your second point is meant to say. Every voter registration has an address! How does this change that? And what do you mean by “voter ballot”? What have ballots got to do with this? Ballots will of course be sent out only to those who apply for them, and to the address at which they’re registered, of course. Where did you get any other idea?

Point being, get out the voter registration just piles on a address to send auto mail voting, no matter how many move afterwards and the percentage of real voters is no where near the potential voting could be.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 10:56 pm

There’s no such thing as “auto mail voting”. Ballots are only mailed to people who apply for them. Or rather from whom an application is received. The plan here is to identify these uninterested voters, and send in application forms in their names. Or to mark them off as having voted in person, and process a ballot for them, at select precincts where there are no Republican observers who can complain.

scooterjay in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 5:01 am

I have to ask…if voting is so free of fraud then why are they attempting to take the leading candidate out of the race and ignoring the majority?

I’ve always been against “motor voter” laws. The way I figure, if you’re too damn lazy to drag your arse to the village clerk or whatever to register to vote, you don’t deserve the privilege of voting.

It’s not a matter of laziness. It’s a matter of not caring about politics and not being interested in voting. Someone who doesn’t want to vote shouldn’t be registered, because the only reason to register him is so that someone else can vote in his name.

Automatic Voter Fraud

Bring back poll taxes…it will cost $10,000 to enter a voting booth, and you get it refunded when you show a property tax bill after voting.

Milhouse in reply to scooterjay. | September 20, 2023 at 8:09 am

That’s not what a poll tax is.

POLL TAXES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH VOTING. A poll tax is a tax that is a flat amount each person must pay. And there is nothing preventing a state, or Congress, from imposing a poll tax today, if it were politically acceptable.

I don’t believe any state or locality in the USA (or anywhere else) has ever charged money to enter a polling booth.

This isn’t about making voting easier, it’s about making it easier for Democrats to vote on behalf of people and to harvest votes.

The Gentle Grizzly | September 20, 2023 at 9:36 am

I’m a grouchy old man who believes a return to them there olden days is called for.

If you want to vote, you jolly well get yourself down to the registrar of voters and sign up. Or, find one of those little old ladies outside the supermarket with her card table and two bridge chairs, deputized to register voters. That’s how I did it. And, thank you Mrs. Rabinowitz, wherever you are.

Motor Voter was and is a wide-open source of fraud and other shenanigans. Same with mail-in ballots. So, before I yell at you to get off my lawn, hear me out.

1) In-person voter registration. No mail-in post cards, no union-bound Democrat DMV clerk doing it for you whether you want it or not.

2) Your own action taken to register. See #1.

3) One day for elections, and here, I say have the stations open for 24 hours nationwide, with all opening and closing at the same time, adjusting for time zone. NY opens at 3AM, CA opens at midnight, say, and both close at the same time 24 hours hence. This cuts off tampering with things like the networks “calling” the election for so and so before the western zones vote. This is especially so for multi-zone states like FL and TN., It also means no one can say their work (or non-work) hours conflict.

4) Photo ID to register, photo ID to receive a ballot.. If you are convinced by your reverends, local tribal chieftains community leaders, or Democrats that you are too stupid to get an ID, then you ARE too stupid to get an ID and have no business in a polling station.

4A) None of those ballots, the name of which I forgot, allowing people who “just moved” to vote. You missed the deadline for registration in your new precinct? Tough. Wait until next time. (“Provisional”?)

5) Paper ballots. Or, physically scannable ballots. No button-pressing into a computer where who know what happens.

6) Counting must be finished within (n) hours of the polls closing, and I’d make it fairly tight. There are so many places to vote that four hours should be more than enough to count a few hundred ballots.

7) Check count of ballots cast with signatures in the voting roster.

Now, two more things:

1) I can hardly wait to read Milhouse’s excuse-making or sophistry. I often upvote you, Mil, and was concerned about your recent absence but there are times you try my patience.

2) Get off my lawn.

She’s spent her entire career gushing.

I thought voter suppression was a bad thing. Thats what the left has screamed for years. When anyone can vote you watered down the legitimate votes so its voter suppression.
