Fauci Worried the Public Won’t Comply With Masking Recommendations Over COVID

Fauci Worried the Public Won’t Comply With Masking Recommendations Over COVID

“When you’re talking about a population level that the data is less strong than knowing that if you look on a situation as an individual protecting themselves or protecting them from spreading it, there is no doubt that masks work.”

Good Lord.

COVID is supposedly coming back with a vengeance. We’re hearing whispers of masking “recommendations” due to it.

But not the flu. Never the flu or colds because COVID is super duper special or something.

Well, the national sweetheart (#sarcasm) Dr. Anthony Fauci is so worried people won’t comply with these recommendations:

FAUCI: “That is not so. When you’re talking about a population level that the data is less strong than knowing that if you look on a situation as an individual protecting themselves or protecting them from spreading it, there is no doubt that masks work. Different studies give different percentages of advantage of wearing it but there is no doubt that the weight of the study — and there has been many — indicate the benefit of wearing a mask.”

It gets better:

FAUCI: “Mandating I don’t think will happen. There may be local mandates and people keep thinking that the federal government is going to mandate that you wear a mask. That will not happen. There may be individual institutions, organizations that will say, if you want to come to work, you have got to wear a mask. Nothing the federal government can do about that if they want to do it locally. I think people need to realize it is unlikely that you will see a mandate, for example, on the CDC. They have no authority to mandate anything with regard to masks. They can only recommend it people can do what they want to do based on their own evaluation of their own risk.”

Dude. Where is the magic where it won’t happen in a big group but only individually?

Also, the CDC doesn’t mandate anything? Oh, sweet summer child. Why else was everyone in a mask for almost all of 2020?

The Wuhan ChiCom Flu comeback will be a great concern starting in December 2023 to January 2024, which will lead to efforts to protect the public from exposure while voting. It will hit full crisis status around 1 September 2024.

Amazingly enough the virus’ virulence and spread will closely mirror the political calendar. Funny that.

“Why else was everyone in a mask for almost all of 2020?”

Forgot: They were? Guess my neighbors and I out here in rural Texas missed that, Maybe that’s why the local barbershop kept operations semi-concealed until the Governor finally overrode county orders and eliminated closures, etc.

Exactly. Let’s call it the Election Variant. More mail in voting with no ID.

    countryboy1947 in reply to Edward. | September 4, 2023 at 10:16 am

Why should anyone believe anything said by a lying government bureaucrat who put millions of dollars into his pockets while profiting from the scam he helped initiate and carry out. Thousands of people died as a result of his machinations and thousands more are going to likely die in the future due to his wonderful vaccines. In my house he is thought of as just a common criminal. If there ever is justice maybe he will pay some day……but I doubt it.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to Edward. | September 5, 2023 at 9:10 am

Ahh, The Election Variant. So, how good does an election variant have to be to guarantee that the Democrats win. This isn’t about ballot harvesting, since they are doing that anyway on a permanent basis. No, the variant must selectively take out enough Republican voters from the electorate to assure a win. If you are talking about a margin of 100K votes max in PA, WI, and MI, then nationwide it will be about 20x that. So the variant has to kill about 2M republican voters net to guarantee the election. So, if they have a virus that kills Republicans over Democrats 2:1, then it needs to kill 3M to guarantee results, and it has to do its work by Sep 1 2024. That means it needs to be about 3x as lethal as the original COVID-19, spread as fast as Omicron, and do a better job of doing what COVID does anyway – kill older, fat men. Since young women poll D+37, this should be very doable. I suspect this effort has already been outsourced to Wuhan, and is well under way.

Also, the CDC doesn’t mandate anything? Oh, sweet summer child. Why else was everyone in a mask for almost all of 2020?

He’s right about that. The CDC can’t mandate masks, and therefore never has. Everyone was in a mask because their local authorities mandated it.

JRaeL in reply to MarkS. | September 4, 2023 at 10:39 am

The key word is guidance. Now local and state authorities having jurisdiction or legislative bodies can adopt that guidance into laws, rules, and/or regulations. But unless they do the CDC guidelines remain just that, not the law.

CommoChief in reply to JRaeL. | September 4, 2023 at 11:09 am

There are two key words you left out. Influence and liability. The outsize influence of the CDC recommendations impacted Rx being filled by Pharmacists, DR willingness to write the Rx (ivermecton), the policy decisions of all entities re mask mandate both public and private.

Why the influence? B/C everyone knew that deviation from the CDC guidance would potentially result in liability. This played into two other common human failings. First the precautionary principle was jacked up to eleventy by scaredy cat, risk averse, lemming leaders. Secondly plenty of folks, especially bureaucrats, like telling other people what to do, these totalitarian twats had an excuse to let their fascism flag fly and they did.

So while the CDC guidance was only a de jure ‘recommendation’ it was in reality a de facto order. Refusing to accept that or impart that as the context is incredibly misleading.

CommoChief has it perfectly right. If the CDC issues ‘guidance’ that everybody needs to wear a chicken on their head to avoid Covid, every state and locality will enforce that with the power of law, and every company who *doesn’t* go by the ‘chicken guidance’ will be shut down and/or sued into bankruptcy.

And thus we all wind up wearing chickens on our head because of idiots at the CDC.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to Milhouse. | September 4, 2023 at 9:08 am

And the jackbooted thugs in police uniforms carried out the mandates. Funny though. Subjective enforcement.

Church gatherings and worship – NO! Arrest them!

Antifags and Black Lives Don’t give a shit? – Acceptable.

Visiting sick and dying relatives in retirement homes? – NO!

Moving family members into hotels so they wouldn’t be killed by loading up same retirement homes with COVID patients? Acceptable.

Federal agencies including DoD forcing people to lose their jobs if they didn’t get the Fauci Ouchie? – Acceptable

Governors closing local stores, but allowing Big Box stores to stay open? – Acceptable

Concise in reply to Milhouse. | September 4, 2023 at 10:08 am

That’s true but they used the CDC as the basis for their dictates. And government can condition a lot things on those taking their money.

caseoftheblues in reply to Milhouse. | September 4, 2023 at 11:44 am

    Can and DID issue orders……

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an Order [PDF – 11 pages] on January 29, 2021 requiring the wearing of masks by people on public transportation conveyances or on the premises of transportation hubs to prevent spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. This Order was effective February 1, 2021 and was published in the Federal Registeron February 3, 2021.

BobJustBob in reply to Milhouse. | September 5, 2023 at 6:40 am

And what do you think those local authorities used as their justification? That’s right…CDC recommendations.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to Milhouse. | September 5, 2023 at 9:13 am

They mandated them on planes, buses and trains.

Azathoth in reply to Milhouse. | September 5, 2023 at 12:50 pm

“He’s right about that. The CDC can’t mandate masks, and therefore never has. Everyone was in a mask because their local authorities mandated it.”

What you say is only true if one accepts their semantic game as reality.

In point of fact, much federal pressure was brought to bear by the deep state (which operates at different levels than the nominal federal and local governments) to see to it that state and local governments, as well as businesses enforced mandates.

The vile bureaucracy doesn’t vanish, particularly if one leaps in and accepts their blather as fact.

The CDC mandated masks. Illegally and via many alternate channels. But they did mandate masks.

fool us once … shame on you …
not going to fall for that BS again
period.
not a lab rat … will not submit to being a labrat… pure blood and proud of it.

The GOP need to hold congressional hearings immediately. Wait… they already did that and Fauci was unphased by any of it. Now we get to see his face again given faux authority by the corporate media that serves his employer, big pharma.

Why should We the People believe anything that the government (in general) or Fauci (in particular) says? They have lied, and lied, and lied… and we know it.

Because sooner or later Lucy has just got to leave the football where it is.

Bruce Hayden in reply to JRaeL. | September 5, 2023 at 11:23 am

But why should we believe that this is the time that they are telling the truth? They very likely are not. They still have not shown that masking provides any benefits, and there is evidence that it is detrimental, at least to elementary school kids. Respiratory viruses tend to get milder and less deadly over time. Why should we believe that isn’t the case this time? Esp since the CDC doesn’t know.

The boldface quote is incoherent and ungrammatical. It seems Fauci also favors masking the English language.

“Where is the magic where it won’t happen in a big group but only individually?”

Tragedy of the commons, for example.

Standing on your toes to see better.

The paradox of thrift (everybody can’t save at once).

JackinSilverSpring | September 4, 2023 at 8:47 am

Faux-xi is a liar and corrupt from the get-go. He denied funding gain of research at Wuhan, he denied the lab leak hypothesis, he bribed researchers to follow his lead on denying the lab leak theory, he pushed masking after saying that masking didn’t matter, and then to top it off; he anointed himself Mr. Science. Why he has any shred of credibility is beyond me. At least the NY Post has zeroed in on this grifter.

The worst part is that the mask, distancing, and quarantining were only about selling vaccines (not public health). The NIH made $125 billion in one year on one vaccine. They had nothing to do with the vaccine development, but the pharma companies put them on the patent to get approval. Then the NIH takes half the profit, because they are on the patent (according to RFK). I’m not saying the vaccines were effective; everyone knows they weren’t. But it was the NIH’s job to sell them.

Fraudchi is full of crap. Nobody should pay any attention to that little goblin.

If you bother to do your homework you find even “Science” in the beginning didn’t think masks would do anything and he was correct.

And in addition, now evidence that Covid variants are being manufactured. This is getting out of hand.

gonzotx in reply to Concise. | September 4, 2023 at 10:29 am

    I always thought that

    Do you have a link?

markm in reply to Concise. | September 5, 2023 at 6:11 pm

No one needs to manufacture COVID variants. It’s a very unstable and rapidly mutating virus. As long as it is widespread, several new variants a year will emerge naturally.

markm in reply to markm. | September 5, 2023 at 6:20 pm

But don’t forget: the only reason COVID became widespread is that a lab in Wuhan did gain of function research on it, using genetic manipulation to replace a coat protein specialized to infect bats to one specialized to infect humans – and was sloppy about containment. This was gain of function research, which Fauci arranged to pay the lab to do with US bioweapons research money – although it does not seem to be exactly the research Fauci paid for, but probably a parallel project arranged for a Chinese agency.

So, Fauci was a lifelong fool, then he was a liar trying to cover up his most foolish action, and then the lies slipped into interfering with containment of the epidemic, contributing to millions of deaths. Or to use the legal term, millions of counts of felony murder.

“Comply with” doesn’t go with “recommendations.” So we can interpret this as just another lie—akin to the ones that say the vaccines are safe and effective—and that in Fauci’s tiny mind “recommendations” means mandates.Non-compliance should be the rule.

    CommoChief in reply to Capitalist-Dad. | September 4, 2023 at 11:15 am

Exactly. Fauci recommendations are functional equivalents to stiffing your mobbed up bookie and they send Paulie Walnuts to ‘recommend’ you pay up what you owe +interest immediately.

Given that the masks are actually the modern symbol of progressive marxist cultism (rather than a medical precaution) Fauci has every right to be worried that only the extremists will be wearing them.

He needn’t worry — we won’t.

Fauci of course did not cite any studies showing that masks work on an individual level because NONE exist… just like no studies existed showing the vaccines keep you from getting or spreading Covid

This sounds incredible, but out of the 22 people we employ, every single one got Covid in spite of 21 being fully vaccinated. Two developed myocarditis and now have pacemakers. You think we’re about to be drawn into another drama filled fiasco?

2nd Ammendment Mother | September 4, 2023 at 11:57 am

I think they are trying to stir up a grassroots panic this go around. The following are 2 Facebook posts by the former managing editor of a large city newspaper. These postings are just weird….. and they don’t really match the author’s known writing style. They are so difficult to wade through that I’d almost grade them as AI.
I tried (a little) to avoid covid, though a good number of family members came down with it after her big fat family get-together last week.
Went to Walgreens, for what I thought and hoped was going to be a Covid booster and new flu shot.
Seemed weird that I was the only one in a line of more than 20 with a mask.
Turned out, the Covid shot was unavailable from Walgreens but I got the flu shot.
Now I understand the latest Covid shots ARE available through the city and maybe the county, but I didn’t make it to that line.
My first two Covid tests came out negative this past week. But the third one yesterday was positive – and I’m feeling it tonight. It’s not nearly as bad as the first time in ‘22 (I think).
What I wasn’t told by Walgreen’s is the latest Covid shots are available — but through the city, I think. I do wish I’d gotten in THAT line, but it’s too late now.
My Covid seem so bad this time around, but it also seems there was a lot of information lacking for the public and way too few masks out there.
What agency said if Covid comes around again, don’t worry about masking up??
I don’t think the problem is what they did say. I think the problem was what they did not say. And now we’re in it and we’ll see where this goes.”
“Still positive after four days in the malaise and brain fog. Nine days earlier, I was at Walgreens looking for a flu shot and a Covid booster. There were 20 or so people in line and I was the only one with a mask. I got my flu shot, but the Covid vaccine was unavailable and still is I understand. Eight days before I came up positive, we had a big family reunion with 18 or so at one long table. A few days later, a good number of them were testing positive and staying home.
I think this is my third go around, and it’s not as bad as it was before, but I am surprised there is not more of a public campaign to get people vaccinated and wearing masks again. I guess we’re past that.”

I really hope masking mandates come back in blue states.

I just like to watch them burn at this point.

The vile Fraudci should be considered an expert solely on matters of mendacity, self-enrichment and the benefits of being a corrupt and incompetent multi-decade career apparatchik.

On Smercomisch, he was the morning drive time radio for me in Philadelphia, the day he said ( second election) he was voting for Barky was last minute I ever listened.
Later he claimed every radio talk show person was playing a personnel.

This blog is called Legal Insurrection. Can you please offer me a bit of legal not-advice but opinion:

I want to manufacture masks. The cheap kind. Should I state on the package that it will prevent the wearer from catching or transmitting a virus? It would really help with sales.

henrybowman in reply to George S. | September 4, 2023 at 2:30 pm

Harbor Freight sells masks that specifically say on the package that they’re really not good for much of anything, especially that. It didn’t dampen sales one bit. As P. T. Barnum observed, you’ll never go broke catering to stupid people.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to henrybowman. | September 4, 2023 at 3:03 pm

That, or a source of masks that are cheap to buy, used by folks KNOWING they don’t do any good, but need them to get into the stores to shop, or doctor waiting rooms.

I’d like to show up somewhere where masks are required, wearing a mask of Fauci. “The sign says masks and this is a mask, sweetheart!”

        good one GG
I keep a paper mask in the car
also keep a gator which is easier to breath thru … if I have to wear one to shop … ok … other then that … no I am not wearing one.

      AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to henrybowman. | September 4, 2023 at 10:38 pm

I bought the 10-pack for $.89 and sold them individually for $1.00 in front of the store. Spoke
Noticed I had them, and needed one.

Not a sustainable enterprise, but I was surprised how quickly they sold.

      The_Mew_Cat in reply to henrybowman. | September 5, 2023 at 9:15 am

Harbor Freight N95s are really good for scooping kitty litter and spraying paint so you don’t breathe the dust or mist.

Funny word: mandate.

Not a law. Never drafted and voted on by a legislative body. Never signed by a chief exec. Just decided by an appointed person for the “common good”.

And here we are.

Any business requiring masks should be 100% boycotted on day one.

Any school requiring masks should have all childten removed by parents on day one.

Any employer requiring masks should be the target of an immediate employee walkout.

If all three of these are followed, this silly mandate game will be over in 72hrs.

Because We The People really are the United States.

No need to worry, Tony. I definitely won’t comply.

“Fauci Worried the Public Won’t Comply With Masking Recommendations Over COVID”

Fauci needs to be worried that some random Chowder and Marching Society is going to recognize him, drag him down to the end of a dark alley, and march out without him.

That is a nonsense quote. If the masks work individually that will be reflected in population-level statistics. If the population-level statistics show no value then you making an individual bet on them is silly.

They have no authority to mandate anything with regard to masks.

That may be, but I couldn’t help but notice every hospital and doctor’s office nearby mandating masks based on mere CDC “recommendations”. They only recently got sane and dropped the stupid masks, if CDC again “recommends” them the stupidity will reappear.

people can do what they want to do based on their own evaluation of their own risk

Well, no. That’s the point of CDC “recommendations”, to prevent anyone from rationally evaluating their own risk in favor of institutions forcing masking on them.

Two things not mentioned:
– Trump is the one who elevated Fauci to Sainthood, frequently having him with a prominent position on Trump’s 1+ hours long Covid press conferences in 2020.
– IMO the reason the Dems want a panic over possible new Covid variants is primarily related to voting, not health. They want the most liberal standards possible in all future elections.

thalesofmiletus | September 4, 2023 at 8:32 pm

I’m worried that Fauci isn’t behind bars for funding GoF research that created Covid-19 and then lying about it to Congress and the American people.

In a more just society this tiresome garden gnome would have already been strung from a lamppost.

It’s disingenuous for Fauxi to state that the CDC didn’t mandate masks. True, not expressly. But it was the CDC’s apparent authority and the incessant and continued insistence of their efficacy that led to the widespread folly and local jackboots.

Fauxi knew this would happen.
