State of Emergency: Massachusetts Governor Calls On Residents to Open Homes to Illegal Immigrants

State of Emergency: “if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family”

https://youtu.be/WkxAbMOZ6PU

Earlier this week, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency over the influx of illegal immigrants to the commonwealth. Now, she is asking residents to take illegals into their homes.

I’m sure that people in places like Cambridge, Wellesley and Martha’s Vineyard will be all over this.

FOX 25 in Boston reports:

Governor Healey asks residents to house migrant families amid growing shelter crisis

The state’s shelters are reaching capacity and now the governor is asking residents to help by opening their doors. That was part of Governor Maura Healey’s announcement–as she also is looking for help from the federal government.

The governor said anywhere between 10 to 30 migrant families a day are coming into Massachusetts. There are 40 hotels across the state helping to house them, but the governor is now pleading for help from the federal government—as well as you.

Governor Healey says close to 5,600 families are currently housed in the state’s emergency shelter system. That number is 80% higher than one year ago. Massachusetts is the only state in the country with a right-to-shelter law that guarantees homeless families access to emergency shelters. She says Massachusetts has been spending around $45 million a month to help assist these families. The situation is so bad, the Healey administration is now asking people to open their homes and businesses to help people in need.

“Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. Housing and shelter is our most pressing need and become a sponsor family,” said Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll.

See the video below:

WBUR has more details:

The state did not immediately respond to requests for information about the vetting process for hosts, and whether there are site visits to assess the safety of host’s home. The state also did not provide information about how many families have been paired with hosts since the Family Welcome Center opened in late June. Local aid groups tell WBUR that several families have gone to host homes.

Advocates briefed on the program said host families are not compensated financially, but they are provided with things like gift cards, groceries and baby formula to help support the family that’s being hosted.

Massachusetts is already short on affordable housing and this is just making the situation worse.

Our Governor, who is a lesbian, is moving into the home of her girlfriend whose husband is moving out as they are getting divorced. The relationship started when the girlfriend worked for the Governor when she was AG of MA.

The people of MA voted to become a sanctuary state, they deserve what is coming their way.

Fat_Freddys_Cat | August 10, 2023 at 11:12 am

This will be a throw of the dice. Yeah, you might get some good family that just needs a hand up, and they’ll go on to cure cancer. Or…

Your house may end up as Gangbanger Central and you’ll have absolutely no legal authority to have them removed even if they threaten you, rape your children, etc.

That’s what I first thought when I read “information about the vetting process for hosts.” For the hosts? What’s the vetting process for the illegal aliens?

Martin in reply to WTPuck. | August 10, 2023 at 12:48 pm

They’re good people. You know that because they left their homes and risked their lives to break the law and enter two or three countries to get here.

You must be a racist to even question them.

A court date and a free Obamaphone.

“if you have an extra room or suite in your home [and are willing to assume the risk of being robbed, beaten or even murdered], please consider hosting a family [as that will hasten the downfall of America as we can add more Democrat voters to the rolls]”

First the government asks, then it demands.

Soon they will be seizing homes to quarter migrants.

My response to this inept leftist Governor, who spent her entire tenure as MA AG suing Donald Trump, GFY…sideways.

The churches brought them here, open them up

Better yet

SEND THEM BACK

Gonna guess that the same folks in Massachusetts who continue to endorse and approve of sanctuary policies and open borders are not gonna leap into action to host illegal immigrants/asylum seekers pending hearings in their homes. If anything it will be the local religious communities and the same sort of folks who sponsor little league baseball or donate to local charities that step up.

The state did not immediately respond to requests for information about the vetting process for hosts, and whether there are site visits to assess the safety of host’s home.

And what about the “vetting process” for the illegal aliens, or assessing the safety risk these illegals pose to the host family?

Not to mention the issue of no apparent compensation.

Hell no. What idiot comes up with these ideas?

And they say the 3rd amendment isn’t needed.

Arrest and deport. It’s only the price of a charter plane for a bunch at a time.

But not Catholics. Catholics aren’t allowed to foster illegals.

Hey, Gov. Contact your President, who is letting them all in. Did you think the Martha’s Vineyard stunt would last forever?

Lucifer Morningstar | August 10, 2023 at 12:02 pm

Yep. As as I said in the previous post nows the time that the Southern states need to step up their game and start transporting even more migrants illegals to these states that so sanctimoniously declared themselves “Sanctuary States” for “migrants”. Put the pressure onto them. Make them us state taxpayer money to fund each and every illegal that shows up in their state. Food, Housing, Education, Medical. Make them pay.

Seems to be plenty of places these migrants illegals could be sent so why aren’t the Southern states doing so is beyond me.

“Massachusetts is already short on affordable housing and this is just making the situation worse.”

I bet they don’t have any stupid zoning rules in Massachusetts 🙂

How many homeless Americans in MA have they declined to help?

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Martin. | August 10, 2023 at 12:28 pm

“Massachusetts is already short on affordable housing and this is just making the situation worse.”

Affordable Housing being a euphemism for Section 8 Housing. So all Massachusetts needs to do is spend more of their state taxpayer money to build high density housing for all these illegals that are flooding their state. Problem solved.

I’m still laughing at those silly Dems that are getting what they voted for

henrybowman in reply to MarkS. | August 10, 2023 at 1:04 pm

Now we get to see “when Marxist useful idiots finally admit there’s a problem with Clown World.”
When clowns appear in the statehouse? Obviously not.
When clowns appear on the TV news? Clearly a no.
When clowns populate the street? Apparently not even then.
When clowns come knocking on their front door with boarders in tow?
    Hm? Hm? Hm?

It doesn’t say specifically, but any bets on whether or not the governor or other high state officials are taking any of those criminals into their homes? I’m betting not, but hey, take one for the team even when the team won’t take one for you.

Whiskey1Bravo | August 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm

I wonder how many illegals Governor Maura Healey has at her home right now? Bet its a big fat zero.

WWG1WGA

Lessen the prison population as well move them into citizens houses too.

$10,000 a month per family? Seems like an awful lot for emergency shelter.

Progressives won’t like this at all. This is someone else’s responsibility to them. They are far too important screaming at the govt about all of the free things the govt should provide to take time for actual benevolence like this.

What happens if you take a family in and the ask them to leave—and they don’t? What’s the law? How much will the legal proceedings cost you?

Subotai Bahadur in reply to Stuytown. | August 10, 2023 at 6:16 pm

I’m pretty sure that in a Leftist state that once you let them in it will take years and thousands of dollars in court costs to get them out . . . if you can. Letting them in is functionally giving them your house while you retain all legal and fiscal liabilities.

    Subotai Bahadur

I wonder whether this counts as an unintended consequence of the commonwealth’s right-to-shelter law. I also wonder whether I’ll be going to Hell for laughing at Governor Maura Healey.

Clearly, if Catholics cannot be foster parents in MA, they cannot be hosts for illegal immigrants either,

How much do you want to bet that WHEN she starts mandating that people take in migrants, she will force it first on Republicans – to PROVE they’re not MAGA racists?

MajorWood in reply to Eric R.. | August 11, 2023 at 8:18 pm

According to “Stuff White People Like,” they will welcome anyone who also brings a great ethnic restaurant with them into the neighborhood.”

Sweet Karma! Made more sweet by the governor’s hilarious plea for the sanctimonious libs to offer their homes as quarter for illegals. It will be a cold day in hell when that happens! Instead the libs are frantic for a proper solution for this filthy influx. A Boston version of Cabrini-Green. A slum within a slum. And they will sell it as an immigrant paradise!

“Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family.”

Because illegal alien families are used to living in one room. It may even beat the quality of the accommodations of their former homes.

BigRosieGreenbaum | August 10, 2023 at 9:21 pm

So if MA is a state that hands out driver’s licenses to illegals, what happens when your “guest” gets one with your address? What happens when the cartel coyotes come calling because the guest owes money or maybe they found out he’s living with a nice accommodating American sucker?

Should be mandatory that all democrats MUST take in at least 10 illegal aliens. Should the illegal aliens commit any crimes, those democrat hosts should also serve the time for the crime.

Cape Ann can easily take in 50K “Obamigrants” and feel blessed to them.

Capitalist-Dad | August 11, 2023 at 1:20 pm

I guess the citizens of the Blue garbage heap of Massachusetts are supposed to be grateful the governor didn’t just issue a diktat (deemed an emergency order) simply confiscating excess rooms for illegal immigrants — your children are out of college, so you have far more space than you need and can afford to share. The Democrat Marxists could even claim it was constitutional, since the 3rd Amendment only bars the quartering of SOLDIERS in private homes in peacetime.

” we’d like to help, governor, but our 28yr old son moved back in with us–after he got his 2nd gender studies degree he only owes $180k and his payments will be starting again in october–what’s a parent to do?–if we don’t help, HE’LL be in a shelter “

Like drinking at the office Christmas party, housing a “migrant” is all downside risk.

I support this only because it draws some of the burden off of Portland. Every place that does something retarded indirectly makes my situation a little better via dilution.

I posted a comment on Youtube recently stating that “every farm kind knows by the age of 6 that if you don’t want rats, you stop feeding them. The smart people won’t need this explained.” Lots of upvotes which is heartening, but oh, the vitriol from those who come from the “needs it explained to them” camp. 😉

I find it ironic that the state in which events in Boston occasioned the 3rd Amendment is asking, at present, for its citizens to house illegals. As I often say, the voters in states like this make such looniness possible.

ugottabekiddinme | August 12, 2023 at 9:26 pm

OK a little reality check here: most home mortgages get closed with a warranty as to how many residents there are in the mortgaged property, and usually allow guests to stay from 30-60 days. These folks welcoming in illegals could end up violating their loan covenants and inviting foreclosure. Too sweet.

RepublicanRJL | August 13, 2023 at 8:36 am

Maura Healey should house all those illegal aliens in all Massachusett’s state buildings including offices.

Problem hidden, problem solved. Unless you work in those buildings but wouldn’t all who work for the state agree it’s a solution?

How many of those Beta-type individuals behind her have opened their house to the MS-13, sex traffickers, cartel members, and overall just crappy people. Yeh, I thought so!
