Trump After Court Appearance: ‘This is a Very Sad Day for America’

Trump After Court Appearance: ‘This is a Very Sad Day for America’

“And it was also very sad driving through Washington, DC and seeing the filth and the decay…this is not the same place that I left.”

President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty.

‘Sad Day’

Trump spoke before he boarded his airplane:

TRUMP: “This is a very sad day for America. And it was also very sad driving through Washington, DC and seeing the filth and the decay…this is not the same place that I left.

“This is the persecution of the person that’s leading by very substantial numbers in the Republican Primary and leading Biden by a lot. So if you can beat them, you persecute them or you prosecute them. We can’t let this happen in America.”

Not Guilty

Trump has pleaded not guilty.

‘Election Interference’

Trump’s legal spokeswoman spoke to the media:

Speaking to reporters outside of the Washington, DC courthouse on Thursday afternoon, Alina Habba repeated suggestions by several Trump allies that the timing of his indictments were made to distract from negative media attention on the Biden family.

“This is not a coincidence. This is election interference at its finest against the leading candidate right now for president for either party,” Habba said. “President Trump is under siege in a way that we have never seen before. President Trump and his legal team and everyone on his team will continue to fight. Not for him, but for the American people.”

She would not say directly whether she thought the case should move forward before or after the next presidential election, but said, “I think that every court needs to look at this as a whole.”

“It’s not about the Jan. 6 case. It’s about the fact that in the matter of a couple of months, we have seen them try and tie up – and me as an attorney, I’ve never seen this – tie up one individual… who’s running a campaign, in a campaign, running for office for president, so that he is in court in depositions and distract him so that he won’t properly run for 2024. And frankly, it’s not going to work,” Habba said.

Courthouse

Trump arrived at the courthouse. His hearing is scheduled for 4:00 PM ET.

More Posts

Landing in DC, Trump posts a video against DeSantis and a video of DeSantis praising him. I have to admit I’m laughing.

Trump Posting Online on Plane

Trump is on his way to DC but still posting on Truth Social: “Biden and his family steal Millions and Millions of Dollars, including BRIBES from foreign countries, and I’m headed to D.C. to be ARRESTED for protesting a CROOKED ELECTION. UNFAIR VENUE, UNFAIR JUDGE. We are a Nation in Decline. MAGA!!!”

He also reposted a chart from Elise Stefanik showing the timeline proving the government targets Trump whenever bad news about Biden’s family appears in the news.

Trump then posted a video clip of Newt Gingrich saying, “This is so blatantly disgustingly political — that is has no business being in the Department of Justice.”

It seems upon landing in DC, Trump posted a video against DeSantis.

Departure

Trump left his Bedminster, NJ, residence around 1 PM ET:

I AM NOW GOING TO WASHINGTON, D.C., TO BE ARRESTED FOR HAVING CHALLENGED A CORRUPT, RIGGED, & STOLEN ELECTION. IT IS A GREAT HONOR, BECAUSE I AM BEING ARRESTED FOR YOU. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

Earlier this morning, Trump wrote, “I NEED ONE MORE INDICTMENT TO ENSURE MY ELECTION!”

He probably won’t need it. He spent far less last time than Clinton.

If at trial, he is allowed to present evidence he can keep the focus on the election shenanigans for quite a while. The independent voters have been bombarded with media telling them that Trump is propagating the big lie with challenges to 2020 voter issues.

Unfortunately, only a few conservative voters have heard and seen the rebuttal evidence that there was massive irregularities, violations of state laws, and outright fraud.

Trump will be able to present a lot of that especially if he gets a change in venue which I think he will as the Supreme Court probably won’t want it to look like he got railroaded which would trigger massive unrest and nationwide contempt for our Justice system.

The 2020 election issues along with video and discussion will dominate the news media before and during the trial.

He won’t be able to present much of a defense, ala Steve Bannon,

He won’t be *allowed* to present a defense, you mean. Most of the prosecution’s claims hinge on “Trump knew the election was perfectly fair and beyond any criticism, therefore all of his actions were corrupt.” Even a casual glance at his public statements and media throws a rock right through that window, so no rocks will be allowed.

The Feds called J6 an insurrection…… Bambi met Godzilla. The irony is that the Left would be “justified” to do whatever they wanted if the roles were reversed. The Left will not allow unopposed peaceful protest and would react with “direct action” fully supported by the present administration and “law” enforcement. They have their street armies ready… and in many cases…. battle proven. I can see a sea of red flags ready to be unfurled.

I would hope that those so inclined would realize that the problem is not a building, rather those that inhabit those buildings

Nobody in the entire Dem Party or the mainstream media wants anything bad to happen to Donald Trump. They know that if he wins the primary, which they hope and pray that he will, then they will have won the next election. This is exactly what they want to happen.

‘Election Interference’

Civil War.

When the history books are written, the Second American Civil War will be recorded to have started with the illegitimate 2008 Precedential campaign of Barky. Traitor Joe will figure prominently as the worst American ever, surpassing even Benedict Arnold, by leaps and bounds. Barky will be seen as the exact element that the Founders tried to defend against with the “Natural Born Citizen” requirement.

And the RINOs will go down as the worst useful idiots in all of human history, while the modern Western Left will be recorded as the most insane, sociopathic population to have ever been puked onto the Earth.

Future history is not going to be kind to us … and it certainly should not be.

I’m not sure the American peole have the will

They saw us mask amd cower over a virus that may make 99% of the people
I’ll, but only 1% die… and they encouraged that 1% by putting the elderly frail with Covid together in the NH amd finishing off the rest they could with ventilators amd Remdisivir

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | August 3, 2023 at 6:46 pm

The same ventilators that Trump leapt to provide under the Defense Production Act to force more private sector production in April of ’20 after running through the stockpile? Same N95 masks his Surgeon General said don’t buy then admitted lying about? Same Defense Production Act invoked to produce more of those N95 masks?

      The same Remdesivir that Trump:
      1. Called promising on 19 March of ’20?
      2. Granted orphan drug status, locking in seven years of exclusive production and potential profits to Gilead Sciences a week later?
      3. Granted an Emergency Use Authorization for in early May of ’20?
      4. Purchased 100% of production in July ’20 and 90% of both August ’20 and September ’20 at $3,100+ per course of treatment?
      5. That he very publicly took in early October of ’20 on a Friday evening then praised on Sunday morning?

Trump did many good things in office. His response to Covid was not one of them. He allowed a set of totalitarian weirdos lock the Nation down and crush the economy, run up $6 Trillion+ in Covid era debt, caused an white cohort of students to be set back among other things. He provided cover for them and the Blue State Governors and blue city Mayors instead of telling Fauci and Birx to STFU. He aggressively went after any Governor or other leadership who defied his lockdown strategy by ‘opening up too early’.

gonzotx in reply to CommoChief. | August 3, 2023 at 9:01 pm

It was very early in Covid, governors were screaming for them amd Fauci and scarf lady were telling him it was the only way to save people

Dear God don’t be a revisionist

He tried to get early treatment, and was successful with the monoclonals, probably cause he got them and told the world, but them roasted him on HCQ, Ivermectin and demonized Drs

        So stop with the lying

          You first.

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | August 4, 2023 at 7:36 am

          gonzotx,

Not one thing I presented was a lie. Nor was it revisionist. You are the revisionist b/c you consistently minimize or ignore facts that make Trump look bad re Covid.

The man was the Chief Executive and it was ultimately his call on whether to take the advice given or balance it v the trade-off of shuttering the economy and the rest of the dreadfully bad Federal Covid policies.

You always do this crap. You want to make a ‘hit’ against X then when called out b/c X was actually supported by Trump you rush to call folks liar or revisionist or ignore it completely.

Trump is not and was not perfect. Stop seeking to deflect any responsibility or accountability for what he did and what he failed to do.

It’s like you got a call from the principal at your kid’s school telling you your kid did X. Your response is always some version of ‘my kid didn’t do it, if he did do it there were reasons, it isn’t my kid’s fault.

Mauiobserver in reply to CommoChief. | August 3, 2023 at 11:08 pm

He should have fired Fauci and never allowed Pence to head up management of the covid response.

Actually, he should never had Pence as VP. Don’t know why he was selected, perhaps he was forced by the GOPe much like Reagan was with Bush 1 with whom he had very different political views and goals.

Azathoth in reply to CommoChief. | August 4, 2023 at 8:50 am

“Not one thing I presented was a lie”

The lie that pervades and permeates your post is the lie that implies that Trump knew what the future would hold.

Doctors say they need ventilators. Trump tries to help them get ventilators –exposes that the previous admin took money for them but failed to spend that money where it was meant to be spent.

Did Trump know, beforehand that ventilators were a bad idea?

        No.

“Same N95 masks his Surgeon General said don’t buy then admitted lying about? Same Defense Production Act invoked to produce more of those N95 masks?”

Fauci WASN’T lying when he initially said not to buy the masks, that they were useless for civilian protection.

        That was correct.

But the peepul needed sumthin’–so a lie was crafted– ‘different’ masks DID provide protection. And the face diaper was born. Eventually it was a required sign of compliance.

But, at the beginning, Fauci told the truth.

Trump was flailing throughout covid. He had no clue what do –AND he’s a germophobe. Covid was the perfect foil –which is why it ‘leaked’.

He still, with covid ongoing, and with St Floyd rioting going on, managed to avoid the proffered ‘dictatorial power trap’ and he not only avoided collapsing the economy, but managed to start the upswing before September was over.

When you act as if he should have known literally everything beforehand to deal with covid— and that’s how this comes of, not as if you’re pointing out that the man’s not perfect, but rather, suggesting that his imperfection is his lack of prescience– you are lying.

By creating a thing that did not exist, could not exist, and taking that thing to task.

CommoChief in reply to Azathoth. | August 4, 2023 at 11:14 am

You are as full of shit as a Christmas Turkey.
Projecting and ascribing motivations to me when you have zero evidence to back your implications. You won’t find that evidence b/c it doesn’t exist.

Ima help y’all out. IMO, Trump faced two defining moments in his Presidency.

          1. Secure passage of funding for the Border Wall and get it built, which was his signature campaign promise.
          2. Covid Crazyness.

When Trump was presented a budget that didn’t have border wall funding he could chosen to impose his Veto. He didn’t.

When Trump was presented Cray Cray recommendations for Federal Policy response to Covid he could have brought in outside experts in the beginning like DR Atlas and Dr Bhattacharya to counterbalance the Crazyness of Fauci and Birx.

In both cases he folded to the pressures of the political environment. With the border funding he would have potentially caused a govt shut down (boo hoo, NOT) and perhaps been able to break the DC establishment hold on power. In any event we will never know b/c he allowed Ryan and McConnell to bend him over and make him like it.

With Covid once he chose to allow Fauci and Birx to run wild without getting an outside opinion from folks untainted by membership in the DC Establishment, folks who didn’t have a political or policy ax to grind in a self serving manner he ceded the narrative to the ideological DC swamp creatures.

Until y’all come up with better answers to why the hell he made such bine headed decisions to Refuse to Fight the Swamp in these to pivotal moments y’all are tanks continue to be viewed as kool aid drinking Trump sycophants who absolutely refuse to hold him accountable for his two clear failures in the most decisions he would make as President.

It only takes 2% of a population to effect a successful revolution.

You are nuts. To think that this is going to lead to a Civil War is delusional. You really need to see a doctor.

You are worse than the John Birch Society during the 60s. There is not going to be a Civil War over this. You need to crawl back under the rock you climbed out of.

thad_the_man | August 3, 2023 at 4:56 pm

I recently had a revelation. Many speculate that this could cause all of Jan 6 to be re-litigated, that’t the opinion of many pundits. If that’s the case then that makes the Jan 6 tapes discoverable. They can’t be put under seal because they have already been released to Fox news.

That means that Trump could put them out there to crowd source looking at them to us.

From what I understand, Fox was given *access* to them in a controlled environment, not just passed a collection of DVDs. We’re still waiting on the actual footage other than the dribs and drabs that have leaked out.

Wow. Jamaican. I had no idea.

I have not been able to find any information on when she was naturalized. For some reason no biography thinks that is an important fact for a federal judge’s life. All I can gather is that she was born in Jamaica and, somehow, came here to attend George Washington University (it’s a long way to go to attend a second rate – at best – school). But no information on how or when she became an American (on paper, at least).

Third world … it’s not just hyperbole.

Well, I wasn’t born in America either. My father was a U.S. Army combat veteran in World War II and served under General Patton in Europe. My mother was a Red Cross Nurse during the War. They met in Germany after the War and got married. I was born in a U.S. Army Hospital in Munich, Germany. So I was “not even born in America” either. So go fuck yourself, gonzotx. Go to hell.

Oh how we swear when we have nothing

My father served with Patton also

My FIL was a Ranger with Patton

      My brother served in Vietnam
My uncles served in Korea, my great uncles in WWI

My Great Great great Uncle in Civil war, Union

Oh, my husband served in Vietnam war
      As a medic

My nephew served in ME twice

I am an RN with 40 years experience and have worked with many a veteran unit both medical and PTSD
      Should I go on?

Does that make you or me a better person, I don’t get your drift

She’s foreign born who has given extreme sentences to American citizens, more than even the corrupt prosecutors in Jan 6 asked for

I don’t think she has America or Americans at heart

But you go on and continue being foul

It has nothing to do with your service, which is admirable. It has everything to do with your worship of Trump as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. You are nuts and a false prophet.

Also Democrats: House Dems Ask Judges’ Group to Allow Televised Trump Trials

More than a dozen top House Democrats—including former members of the Jan. 6 committee—have penned a letter to the Judicial Conference of the United States asking for the federal court system to allow live television coverage of court proceedings in the pair of cases currently pending against former President Donald Trump. The representatives implored the conference, a group of senior federal judges who make policy for the court system, to allow the changes because of “the historic nature of the charges brought forth in these cases.” They added: “If the public is to fully accept the outcome, it will be vitally important for it to witness, as directly as possible, how the trials are conducted, the strength of the evidence adduced and the credibility of witnesses,” the lawmakers wrote.
