GA State Senator Demands Emergency Session to Investigate Fulton County DA Fani Willis

Willis brought the charges against President Donald Trump. A grand jury indicted him this week.

Georgia State Sen. Colton Moore (R) wants Gov. Brian Kemp to declare an emergency session to investigate Fulton County DA Fani Willis.

Willis is the one who brought charges against President Donald Trump, including a RICO charge. A grand jury indicted him this week.

Moore wrote on Twitter:

As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis.

America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors politically TARGET political opponents.

The letter states:

We, the undersigned, being duly elected members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia Senate, and comprising 3/5 of each respective house, pursuant to Article IV, Section II, Paragraph VII(b), hereby certify to you, in writing, with a copy to the Secretary of State, that in our opinion an emergency exists in the affairs of the state, requiring a special session to be convened under that section, for all purposes, to include, without limitation, the review and response to the actions of Fani Willis.

The letter says, “We, the undersigned,” but I only see Moore’s signature. I’m guessing he expects others to sign it.

Moore has been asking people to sign a petition to investigate Willis:

Corrupt District Attorney Fani Willis is potentially abusing her position of power by pursuing former President Donald J. Trump, and I am calling on my colleagues in the Georgia legislature to join me in calling for an emergency session to investigate and review her actions and determine if they warrant impeachment.

The politically-motivated weaponization of our justice system at the expense of taxpayers will not be tolerated. I am demanding that we defund her office until we find out what the hell is going on. We cannot stand idly by as corrupt prosecutors choose to target their political opposition.

Cliff Maloney, who runs America First Georgia campaigns, told Breitbart News:

“Finally, a leader who is stepping up and fighting back against the epidemic of corrupt District Attorney’s that are drunk on power,” he said.

“Colton Moore is an absolute patriot,” he added. “He must win this battle and I encourage every liberty loving American to support him.”

Trump faces 13 charges in Georgia, adding up to 76.5 years in state prison.

“sit back and watch”

Sit back to watch.

Like “try and do” it’s formally hendiadys (coordination for subordination) but it’s actually just substandard English.

    You callin’ Suthrun substandard?
    Bless your heart.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | August 17, 2023 at 7:53 pm

No, I don’t think it’s hendiadys or substandard. I think it’s correct English. Sitting back is not necessary in order to watch. It’s not a preparation for watching. Rather they are two things that a passive person would do, and that he declares he will not.

rhhardin in reply to Milhouse. | August 17, 2023 at 8:02 pm

Is she saying she would she sit back and not watch, or not sit back but do watch? Both are negations of sit back and watch.

What she’s saying is she’s not going to sit back to watch. Nothing about negating watching.

Try it both ways and see which is more lively English.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | August 17, 2023 at 11:47 pm

No, he is saying that he is expected to do nothing but sit back, and watch. And that he refuses to do either of those things. He is going to do something about it. Whether there’s anything he can do is another question. But he seems to be of the mind that “I must do something; this is something, so I will do it”. Which has exactly the same effect as sitting back and watching, but you end up feeling better about yourself because “at least I did something”.

You can also sit back and close your eyes (not watch), but you don’t need to sit back in order to close your eyes.

He’s just an asshat looking for trouble. I’d humor him no further.

    PÆDANT!

It cracked me up during the meet and greet following a concert when someone would say to me “I admire what you were tryin’ to do up there” … like, I was tryin’ to sing and play – and where I wrote the damn songs – what the hell? Thankfully I’ve never heard that after making love to a woman.

I sympathize with you, and prefer the more logical “to watch”, but both are correct. Both usages go back centuries with writers of the first water. More concerning is the employment of attorney’s as the plural for attorney.

From the “descriptive” not “prescriptive dictionary, Merriam Webster:
“William Shakespeare often used hendiadys. For example, his character Macbeth, speaking of the passage of life, says “It is a tale / Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, / Signifying nothing.” For Shakespeare, the construction “sound and fury” was more effective than “furious sound.” The word hendiadys is a modification of the Greek phrase hen dia dyoin. Given that hen dia dyoin literally means “one through two,” it’s a perfect parent for a word that describes the expression of a single concept using two words, as in the phrase “rough and tough.” As you can imagine, hendiadys is a common element in everyday speech and writing.”

This seems excessive on Moore’s part.

And it’s exactly what we need.

There is no line the Ds won’t cross. Political prisoners held without trial. Terrorists burning down cities let go without punishment. Every government arm weaponized against their political opponents.

As flimsy as the case for impeaching Ds may be, Rs need to start punishing their enemies with the tools they have in their hands.

Nuclear war might be excessive, but this is actually entirely too mild. Remember that Biden has discussed dropping nuclear weapons and using fighter jets against Americans.

    Wake up, dude.

It’s not likely to get anywhere because there’s nowhere to go. What’s wrong is violating an unwritten rule about opponents being opponents and not enemies.

As Bush Jr said added about Al Gore at the Al Smith dinner, lifting the sentiment from somebody else I think, that he couldn’t wish him success but he does wish him well.

If there is nowhere for this to go, then you admit that our system is an adequate to deal with evil. If so then it must be reconstituted.

Our country was designed for a moral people. Clearly a large portion has decided to abandon morality.

If there is nowhere to go, then it is up to us to make a new trail that leads to restoration of Americans’ freedom from these powermad wanna be tyrants.

I am completely in favor of dismantling the sexual harassment laws, the civil rights laws, and all laws that prohibit us from discriminating in hiring firing sports national origin etc. in any arena.

I realize that this last paragraph is not completely on point with the original topic. However recent experiences have brought it very much to the forefront of my mind.

It’s simple, either make women more self-aware or take away their vote. It’s women that vote for feelings over structure, and men that vote for structure over feelings.

People are comparing Fani Willis to that Duke Lacrosse guy, Mike Nifong.

He damaged some innocent young men. She can destroy our nation.

Fani Willis is really digging the attention. This is her 15-minutes. She will ride this as long as possible.

You have NO IDEA what you’re talking about. Get a clue before you embarrass yourself further

MarkS in reply to Fatkins. | August 18, 2023 at 7:44 am

Her job? Get a grip, man, she trying to convince us that telling people to watch TV and asking for a phone number are RICO violations,…she should be writing for SNL

Fatkins in reply to MarkS. | August 22, 2023 at 9:44 am

How to say you neither of you have any idea how RICO works. Maybe read the indictment and understand what is meant by in furtherance of a crime.

Can you imagine the damage this will do to Democrats if she’s kicked out and the indictments are dropped….it would be delicious watching the left eat itself in real time hahahahhahaa.

Sadly, this will not happen. There is too much at stake for Democrats to lose here.

Gov. Kemp is elitist and a leading anti-Trumper who is more than happy to align himself with Soros DA if, in his deluded judgment it helps to get rid of Trump. This special session is not going to happen. People of GA should remember and send this arrogant pol to the dustbin of history.

Dolce Far Niente in reply to peakcat76. | August 18, 2023 at 11:07 am

” People of GA should remember and send this arrogant pol to the dustbin of history.”

And by that statement you are assuming that it was the people of Georgia who actually elected Kemp, and not shenanigans in the counting of votes..

I don’t make those assumptions about elections anymore.

    Milhouse in reply to peakcat76. | August 19, 2023 at 12:49 pm

No, the special session is not going to happen because there is literally no possible way that 3/5 of both houses are going to sign this stupid petition.
